I distinctly remember a game in my first season of ranked (S4). I played Hecarim jungle at the time, and was getting pretty frustrated (I wouldn't say tilted because I was still personally doing well) that despite having good objective control and an excellent KDA and map pressure all around, I had something like a 30% win rate on him (meanwhile on champions and roles I felt weaker in, I was maintaining 60+ % win rates). It wasn't even that I got outscaled or made mistakes late (not saying I didn't make any mistakes, just that being silver at the time I was playing above that level throughout the game) and just could not win on him.
Then I had a game, the team was doing pretty badly overall with me and one ally keeping us in it. It was over an hour in to the game and the two of us caught them at Baron. We engaged 2v5 (with our allies following behind us), got 3 kills before our allies arrived and we died, ended up making the fight a 5 for 2. Death timers on the 5 enemies were all over 70 seconds. Our team turned to do Baron. My top laner and I were constantly typing "END" in chat and pinging the open mid inhib and nexus. The mid laner listened pretty quickly and left, but the feeding bot lane just stayed on Baron. I eventually started typing "END" in all chat and that seemed to wake them up, with 34 seconds until the enemy respawned they finally stopped doing Baron and went for the base (mid laner solo took inhibitor before they got there) (and honestly, I think they stopped baron because they were almost dead from tanking it for so long because our ADC just didn't have the damage, had like 100cs in an over hour long game). They still managed to end, although 3 of the enemy respawned right before they killed the nexus. Had it taken them 2 seconds longer to go finish the game, the enemy would have saved it. Absurd. How do you not know to end the game when the enemy team is aced for OVER A MINUTE?
In low elo, it has nothing to do with who you play. Player knowledge really decides it. You can carry bad players a lot easier than you can carry dumb ones. I mean, at least most bad (but knowledgeable) players are smart enough to realize who is carrying and listen to their calls. Hell, I feel like I'm a decent player in the game most of the time, but when I'm having a poor game and an ally starts shot-calling, I'm listening to every call. I'm clearly not playing my best, I'm also not used to being behind (i.e. even when the team is behind I'm normally at least even myself) so I'm not super experienced in that situation. If the 14/3 carry is going to call the shots, I'm going to listen. When the whole team listens to the guy who's carrying, you can come back more often than you'd expect. Surprise - he actually knows what he's doing.
