When are promos going to stop being a meme?

Played my promos to P3 three times now and the quality of matchmaking is actually such a meme now it's disgusting.

When is something going to be done? people have always had low success rate with promos I remember there was a stat awhile back of it being in the low 40s, and Riot was even contemplating of removing promos and honestly they should. There was even a YouTuber who did his P3 to P2 promos nearly 20 times, seriously you think if he hit 100 LP that much times he wouldn't of been deserving of P2. I only did it three times but the kind of matchmaking you get during promos vs regular games is actually a laughing joke.

Many people experience this and there needs to be some kind of alternative solution because promos just cause people to rip their heads off.

it really wouldn't be a bad idea to get rid of promos actually... i think between ranks promos would still be decent tho. so that change from silver - gold, gold - plat etc would be a significant achievement. it feels like such a waste of time trying to climb divisions, losing and ending up with 60 lp. ranked needs to be challenging, but not impossible if you can't play all day every day

Agreed with this. Im trying to climb out of bronze 5, and its so hellish. I reached 100 lp quite easily (one trick sona main), and then my promos were one comeback-won game, and two losses. I dropped to 76 Lp, climbed back to 100 lp, got a free win from the last lost promos, and still got chimps for teammates. I got autofilled adc, went jhin with morgana vs blitz and mf. The morgana was even worse than bronze 5 if you can believe it. She would hide behind me, not bothering to shield when blitz ran at us, and started W as her first spell. Needless to say, that was not a good game.

Now im at 99 lp, 3 wins in a row after i dropped to 69 lp and honestly im scared to face my promos at this point.

The thing I don't get is: Say you're in promos to D5 Why are you matched against D4-D5 opponents in your promos. Why do you need to prove you're better than D4 or D5 people to be in D5? They should match you against P1's to prove you're better than P1

Was playing my promo to reach P4... riot gave me jungle (my side role) and gave top to a Gold 4-5 Oo My MMR was one of P4. Seems like i was having so too many win compared to my loss. The system needed balance this [zombie-brand-mindblown]

When you have a high winrate over recent games, the matchmaking system thinks that your games are too easy.

To remedy this, the system puts you in more difficult situations (better enemies, worse allies).

If you are in promos, you are almost definitely on a winstreak, so the system makes your games more difficult.

Promos being difficult is intended.

games should become more difficult by matching you with and against more skilled allies and opponents, not by matching you with a bunch of chimps against 5 people with the same rank as you while your mmr is one entire league above your official rank.

intended or not, the entire system is ass backwards. instead of letting you climb in rank, it makes playing at your current rank increasingly difficult.

no, its not impossible to eventually climb. but the system is designed in a way where it turns 10 games that it would take you normally to climb through a division into the next one into 50 games.

Mmr just needs to be removed entirely.

All it does is artificially slow down climbing. If your mmr is d4 but you are in plat, you might as well be d4 since you're slready playing there...

You do know that MMR is what the entire rank system is based on? If you remove it you have no matchmaking at all, you're just lumping a bunch of random players together. Even Normals, ARAM and so on use MMR to make fair games.

What about matching people based on thier actual rank instead of thier invisible rank? Thats all mmr is. Just an invisible rank.

You can be visibly plat 3 and invisibly diamond 5 or gold 5. Only difference is one affects who you play with/against and the other gives you rewards/determines who you can duo with.

Having both just causes toxicity when people can't climb because they are playing above thier visible rank.

In other games like Dota 2 there is no Diamond or Platinum, they use the actual numbers. Overwatch uses both, although they don't have protection from falling down ranks like League does.

That's exactly what they are. Numbers aren't ranks.

I think you mean they are arbitrary factors in matchmaking, which is true. That's what I think should be stopped. Diamond 4's should match with diamond 4's regardless of winrate. Its not fair to anyone to have a plat 3 on a winstreak be matched against a full team of diamonds. Hell I've even seen gold 1's in full diamond ranked matches.

And its not just in diamond. The same should ap At the very least mmr needs to be removed from promo games if promos are gonna stiply to all ranks, bronze/silver/gold/plat/whatever. ck around.

No game (no good game at least) actually uses the "gold" or "bronze" tiers for matchmaking, it's all MMR for a reason. It's much more accurate in representing your skill than a super wide (and again) arbitrary tier. How fun would it be playing in S5 and noticing one of your opponents has a 100% win rate over 50 games because it's actually a Master player using a smurf account? You have virtually 0 chance to win, and even if you were to win you'd get the same amount of points from a regular win because there's no MMR to calculate that you should earn more.

You don't seem to have any clue why MMR is vital for matchmade game, so you're making quite an ignorant statement without bases.

You seem really stuck on mmr being a requirement for ranked to process effectively.

And you don't seem to understand what I'm saying.

All I want is for our mmr to be equal to our rank actual rank. There. Easy enough? The point is to get people where they belong on the ladder faster. Smurfs are going to exist regardless, so they aren't relevant.

And I'll explain mmr; Its an invisible numerical ranking system used to determine who you play with/against. Thats it. Sure lp rewards are based on it, but that's just because it already existed. There are other ways of determining lp.

I really hope you can be a little more open minded, instead of being stuck on "tradition".
