Something to note about Death's Dance.

Since it is entirely impossible for a player to die to one of their own effects (ex: Mordekaiser Aatrox Zac can't commit suicide by casting an hp-cost ability at 1 hp), a player can't die to the bleed effect from DD. That is to say, if that Syndra R was anything less than 30% overkill , you'll live. Even without using the AD spellvamp to heal through the bleed like Rito most likely intended, it just straight up ensures they always have to land at least one more spell or attack than should actually be necessary to put you down. In my last match I got hit by something that should've killed me, bled down to 2-4 hp... and stayed there bleeding for "200" more damage. I'm pretty sure when you take 200 damage at 4 hp you die, but I guess not.

Can you make a video of it? DD's bleed is considered the enemy's damage (notable in that it causes turret aggro). I would be very surprised to see it not be able to kill the owner.

I'll get the replay when I can, I'm not going to say I wasn't mistaken, but I'm pretty sure I shouldn't have lived where I did.

I just tested it. You absolutely can die to bleed itself.

Sounds like a bug to me. So what you're saying is that if I'm at a health low enough that the bleed would kill me, it won't?

I've died from my own item 3812 plenty of times. Either its bugged, you had alot of regen or something, or it got changed purposely but wasn't in the patch notes. Its probably one of the 1st two.
