It's called "Ascension," not "Shrine Collector Simulator 2016"
I know there needs to be some form of out-of-combat points to earn, on the off-chance an entire team decides to disconnect after first blood. But sweet mother of mercy, does sprinting from the bottom shrine to the top shrine, back and forth, over and over, and over, and over, and over, feel more like an actual mundane chore than having fun, the thing you should feel in a video game (Excluding Ranked).
"This isn't team deathmatch LMAO xDDDDD haha play call of duty!!!" Shut up. Shut the hell up. Objectives are nice, but that objective monopolises the entire game mode. There's this big blue bastard in the middle of the map with chronic amnesia who keeps forgetting he got his ass kicked that gives bonus points when killed. The new wielder get nifty stat-boosts, which makes the game fun. I like that! But I've been through games where no one even touches the Ascended thing.
Why is that? Well, two reasons.
- Shrines. If you start a teamfight anywhere, there's a high chance one of your teammates is kindly pissing away to take a shrine, and after everyone's either low or dead, it becomes much more masochistic to try taking it at all.
- Shrines! Killing the Ascended being gives you five points. Being ascended and getting killed gives them five points. In the end, unless you're playing some overpowered horseshit
, you won't even make a good investment on points in the first place. It's pointless. So what would be the only purpose of being ascended? Well, that's simple: making it easier to take shrines!
So I got some ideas that would make Ascension less of a chore.
- Shrines should be worth just one point, each, but they should also grant buffs to the local vicinity to the team that last captured it, such as vision to the bushes, or slight bonus health regen that scales with level. -Simply BEING the Ascended being should grant your team bonus points, on a minuscule amount, to compensate for the shrines. Maybe one point every ten seconds. -Give us some more passive gold. This is unrelated, but I'd like to enjoy a few minutes of being at full build, instead of just one minute of being at full build. Come on, now.
ALL THE TIME!!! I'm pretty sure Riot could do something about that, if they even BOTHERED to look at this game mode one single time in the last two fucking years.
