so pinging may not be enough

Pings are not always taken into account, it's like the story with the shepherd who keeps screaming ' wolf wolf!! ' all the time but when people show there is no wolf so when the wolf shows up he screams bit everyone thinks he is lying again and they don't show up to help.

Some people excessive pings can become ineffective while some people don't ping enough to really warn you about a threat.

This isn't the problem tho the problem is that the enemies missing ping '?' Isn't very effective.

First of all its the lowest sound ping in the game. A mia ping needs to be louder and have a more distinct sound so people can get the message easier.

Maybe the game needs a different kind of ping that is much louder and clearly states the mia. Also i think people need to really type it in chat if they think that a gank maybe going bot, or top or mid. If you really want to be effective even if this small distraction may lose you a creep or two. Its definitely worth more than a double kill. I have been in many occasions ganked by an enemy while my wards were down and when i asked my midlaner he said that he pinged. I looked in the chat and he had indeed pinged once the thing is when so many pings are thrown around it's really hard to understand which ones are the most important ones, while someone physically typing, 'gank coming bot' is more powerful and effective.

I like make a trail of "?" pings showing what lane they're roaming to. It's pretty effective.

While that may be true to some extent, but if you are mid lane and you're facing a mid laner that is very good at roaming (like Leblanc, Kat, Zed etc) and you see them constantly go into the side bushes over and over...It's not easy to have to keep typing that all out every 20 or so seconds, it's just much easier/faster and honestly safer to just quickly ping the ? ping. Although, if you know which side bush they went through, I see no reason for your mid lane to first ping the ? ping, and then ping the ! (danger?) ping in the river of the lane they are going to.

Also before you or anyone else says it, yes it's ideal for you to follow that person to the lane they are ganking, but if you are a squishy immobile mage (and not very good at ganking or even team fights) and the person that is roaming is an assassin, it's not smart to just wander through the river to catch up because like 90% of the time, that person didn't go bot/top lane right away and is waiting in a nearby bush to gank you.

But I do agree on the ? ping needing to be louder though

Or League can use a system of more diverse pings to communicate specific actions such as "Retreat" or "Enemies here/inc."

Of course, Rito's argument is that the game would be too polluted with these pings and no one would know what is going on. (Despite support from the community)

The method I do currently if I think my teammates won't notice my ping is to ping on them first with the generic "g" ping. Once I have their attention, I follow up with my desired ping (such as mia) and ping again in their lane.

I find that a single ping generally isn't helpful because people don't know who it is for. However, with my method they are more sure to notice the pings.
