The runes and the numbers, please read.

Here are some facts about the runes for league of legends proving that they are somewhat expensive.

i calculated all kinda briefly so the numbers are not 100% accurate.

NOW FOR 2 ONLY RUNE PAGES! one for ap and one for ad here are some numbers:

AP QUINTS 1025 x3 =3075 AD QUINTS 1025 x3 =3075

TOTAL 6150 IP

MR GLYPHS (1.34 MR) 205 x9=1845 IP

USING THESE FOR BOTH RUNE PAGES

ARMOR SEALS (+1 ARMOR) 205 x9=1845 IP

ALSO USING THESE FOR BOTH RUNE PAGES

ATTACK SPEED MARKS 410 x9=3690 IP

MAGIC PENETRATION MARKS 410 x9=3690 IP

TOTAL 7380 IP

ADDING THEM ALL UP 6150+1845+1845+7380= 17220 IP

Now from my last 10 games, i had 5 wins and 5 losses, i calculated the average ip gain per loss and per win at 85 ip *not including first win of the day bonus

now if we divide 17220/85=202.5 games in order to achieve this amount of IP.

now my average out of these 10 games was 33.42 minutes of game time + 5 minutes approximate for queue and champ select is a total of

38.42 minutes for one game on average.

so 202.5 x38.42= 7780.25 minutes

7780.25/60 = 129.6675 hours

now assuming someone plays 3 hours per day (WHICH IS MORE THAN WHAT PEOPLE SHOULD SPENT ON VIDEO GAMES) and most people dont even play that much we have 129.6675/3 =

43.22 days ONLY FOR 2 RUNE PAGES one AP ONE AD, and using the same seals and glyphs for both.

Now this is alot of time for some cheap and pretty basic runes that wont get you far in the game.

Also note that most people dont even play 3 hours per game. Also note that these runes are pretty cheap compaired to some Quints that cost 2050 for one and some marks , seals, and glyphs that cost 820 for 1 !

Another thing to take into account is how many champions one needs to start playing ranked.

12 x450= 5400 IP for all the 450s and 4 x1350=5400 for 4 1350s so that you have the minimal of 16 champions to play ranked.

That is an extra 10800 ip / 85 = 127 games x 38.42 =4881.6 minutes / 60 = 81.36 hours / 3= 27.12 days!

I think that it is too much and runes should cost less.

ALSO NOTE THAT IT COSTS 6300 IP FOR 1 EXTRA RUNE PAGE

6300/85=74.11 games x38.42=2847.6 minutes/60=47.6 hours/3=15.82 days for one rune page.

NOW RITO I THINK YOU ARE KIDDING US HERE.

HERE IS THE PROOF, WHETHER ITS 100% ACCURATE OR NOT IT DOESN'T MATTER AS ITS PRETTY CLOSE TO REALITY.

What do you think is it unfair that we have to spent so long for runes not to mention buying decent champions to play ranked with.

Frankly I don't see why this would be a big deal. You're omitting the fact that you have to have a level 30 account to even be slightly elligible for ranked play in the first place. That amount of play tends to give you enough IP to buy a main champion and a couple "padding" champions to satisfy ranked's requirements.

And of course things sound ludicrous when lumped all together with First-win bonuses being disregarded in the equation, but then again it's easier to ignore the variables such as "first wins to time played per day" and raise the cry of unfairness.

Now for why costs are just fine... As I see it, runes are not necessarily mandatory. Last season I accidentally brought my half-assed AD runes and masteries for midlane Xerath and won the lane by a landslide, despite my "disadvantage". And if we're talking about new players, first we need to make sure they understand not to buy runes until the T3 runes are available to them, since the rest are worthless. That's the reason I claim that going from Summoner Level 1-30 will grant a player enough IP for their preferred main as well as some "padding".

I'm not as eloquent, or patient, or passionate as you are about this topic, so naturally my argument will seem less impressive or "more stupid". The only reason I can see that this would be an issue is for the people making smurf accounts, since they can't just have their runes and main and just powerhouse to ranked to toy with the poor bronzes and first-time-ranked players, lording over these lesser beings by stroking their e-peen over how good they are in comparison and making sure the entire match knows it.

Long story short... unless you no-life League like it's your job when it's not, there should be no issue with the rune costs because chances are if you want to hop into ranked as soon as you hit level 30, you're probably smurfin' it and wrecking the experience for the players who won't give a crap about this until they've gotten a few hundred matches of experience.

3 hours a day? That's nothing. Come on, be realistic.

You all know that t1 and t2 runes arent really expensive anymore right? One could fill their page with t2 runes (which aren't much worse) Quickly because quints cost 100 and the others cost 35 ip.

Then as you PROGRESS and get better you can slowly replace those runes.

Also what's wrong with taking time to finish something? People these days are so obsessed with having everything HERE AND NOW.... but why...?

So I like the math but it's missing a major factor. This is kind of like doing a cost efficiency analysis of a product and ignoring a market analysis for demand. If the product is stupid expensive, but you're the only one who can do it, and people really want it (think top tier heart surgeon or something where really the best is the only one you want and people are willing to pay extra for), then the cost of making the product and the fact that it is expensive and might not sell if demand was less doesn't matter.

Similarly you did a cost analysis of runes specifically focused on the TIME it takes to earn that much IP.......... without looking at EXP rates and time to get to level 30. While maybe there should be an explanation/disclaimer of "save half your IP earned from levels 1-30 for rune pages, the thought that runes are over priced w/out addressing the IP you earn incidentally while leveling to 30 is kinda ignoring an important fact. If you can earn enough for min champs required, 2-3 basic rune pages and one or two high cost champs (play them on free week to make sure you pick the right one and use your 3 refunds if you really need to switch it out), then the argument here would be null. If you can't play ranked when you hit 30 with out grinding another month that's a different story.

You have to calculated the first win of the day bonus.

I mean, when I was grinding IP, I made sure to play one 7-10 minute bot game a day in the morning. Cost about 5-7 hours of time to get 6300ip, and that's just from the first win of the day bonus, not any extra IP I was getting from just playing.

I'm not saying that Runes are reasonably priced. They're not. But there are better ways to grind.

Not reading the replies, and didn't read the whole post so maybe this has been addressed but it would be a huge flaw in your calculations if you don't include win of day bonus, to the point that I didn't bother reading once I saw that
