How I Would Balace Yasuo
I really don't have a problem outplaying
(who really just seems like the male version of
to me), but his low CD, no resource skill spam is annoying.
First off, I'd only use 1 of the following, because using more than 1 would gut him
-
Get rid of whirlwind, instead making it a upward slashing blade motion that catches everything in short/thin cone in front him. It'd function like Cody's "criminal upper" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RWoD11DzbYo (start video at 4:45) or Katana's fan lift https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=48Qve0WS6n4 (start video at 2:25). Sweeping blade would still work the same.
-
Gathering Storm should have a static cooldown after whirlwind is used. Meaning, after he uses whirlwind, he can still spam his Q, but he'll have to wait 10 seconds before he can get more Gathering Storm stacks.
-
Make Steel Tempest similar to
's Broken Wings in CD functionality. After his 1st Q, he has 6.5 seconds to cast the second, then 4.5 seconds to cast the last one (with a 2 second mini CD in between, so he actually has 4.5 seconds to cast the 1st, and 2.5 seconds to use the last), then it goes on a 11 second CD before he can use Steel Tempest again. -
Remove the critical strike bonus from Way of the Wanderer, the shield is enough (of course that means giving him normal crit damage).
-
Remove the
effect he has for 15 seconds after using his ultimate, which would force him to actually build armor penetration. -
Increase Steel Tempest cooldown to 6 seconds and remove the AS CDR for regular CDR.
-
Passive shield can only recover by damaging enemy champions with Steel Tempest. He gets a 3rd for each strike (still automatically gets shield after ult though).
-
Give him energy or mana. I'm sure he'd be 10x less appealing to people if he had to start with a
early game or became exhausted after a whiffed combo or spams too hard (
)
Yasuo himself is a healthy champion. It's the combination of passive buffs (100% crit, 50% bonus armor penetration, Steel Tempest getting CDR from attack speed) that make him a nuisance.
