“Dodge the skillshot” is not an argument [Looking at Lux]

For one very simple fact: good players land skill shots.

This argument also ignores the power of said skill shot. For example, eating a zed Q probably won’t be the end of you - it’ll hurt but his Q is not all or nothing. Eating a lux or a Morg Q is probably the end of you. Both cases have certain power budgets in them but these skills are created with the idea in mind that good players will land them. When we have balance trouble is when players can still dodge these skillshots and you can’t really punish the champions for it.

Again, this applies less to someone like Zed and more to Lux or Morg Q, because they are all or nothing. And yet, for someone like Lux, her Q remains incredibly spammable while she’s also long ranged. So dodging her skill shot doesn’t matter, because you can’t punish her when you do. This is one reason lux can be a bit of a headache because when she’s good, it’s because punishing her is impossible. But punishing her is almost always impossible anyway because of her range and spamability of her spells. So when she’s good, it’s provably because she’s overturned in areas.

Riot should look at increasing her Q and R CDs or decreasing flat damage while buffing scaling, because support lux is doing too well right now and a large part of it is because you can’t punish her.

Morgana and Lux Q travel a lot slower than Zed's Q. They are easier to dodge.

Your statement "Good players land skillshots" is not entirely correct.

Good players land skillshots on players worse than them. If they are landing slow projectiles on you, they predicted your movement and outplayed you.

This is irrelevant. A skillshot can still be too strong even if its dodgeable.

Call it what you want but the end result is the same: good players land skill shots. And it does not make you a bad player to eat a skill shot. It means you’re human. Even Faker eats skill shots.

As a Lux player, I personally think her Q and R are okay, but her W is a bit on the stronger side. Although it's a skillshot, it's one of the more powerful shields in game, and is maxed first on support Lux.

I agree. Lux needs the cooldowns she had back in season 7.

I play a lot of Blitzcrank when I get support, and I only hit about 1 in 10 hooks.

But when I do,.... 😏😏😏

Buy the cleanse?

Do you mean QSS? Even if you mean cleanse, both have long cooldowns compared to Lux Q as an example. I’m not ignoring the effectiveness but chances are you usually won’t have the luxury of having either when it matters: unless you’re really far ahead, in which case lux doesn’t matter. I think QSS is better as an argument against things like Wither, Skarner ult or Malz ult because you more or less nullify these champs when you use it. Lux, on the other hand, just throws out another Q 5 seconds later.

The point of buying cleanses is so you can deal with the mistake the first time. If you fail to dodge Lux Q, you cleanse it. If you get hit again, why SHOULD you have another cleanse unless your support bought Crucible? It's the same as Wither, really. One item shouldn't outright nullify Lux.

As for Skarner: He has a stun on top of his suppression, which drags people into his team. It'd better be effective to QSS him.

As for Malzahar: The ONLY defense to his ult is QSS. It better be effective to QSS him.

In comparison: You can literally buy tier 2s and just dodge the Lux Q on top of cleansing it. To boot, the champion's damage spikes mid game and falls off, so just buying more MR deals with her damage builds (which is why W max is so good). The others in comparison don't fall off as hard and have targeted suppressions.

I agree on decreasing Lux's base numbers while buffing her ratios. High elo support Lux's standard build? Athene's, Ardent, Redemption. 3 items with less AP than a single Deathcap.
