well, i spent months away from league playing HotS

and i have a completely new perspective on league.

i used to hate league because it was full of ragers/quitters/people who just didn't care if they won. and sure. it is. just like heroes is.

but here's the key difference.

_In league, there are noticeable differences between divisions/tiers. _ say you play in bronze 5. the players there are real bad. but say you climb up to silver, the players get substantially better, make better decisions(sometimes), and have a general knowledge of the games. you can generally assume someone in high platinum has a high MMR

now, in heroes they go by a rank system AND an mmr system. the rank system, i.e the whole reason you play competitive is a complete joke.

a rank 1 in heroes, the mmr range goes anywhere from 2000(silver mmr) to 4000(master mmr). these players are considered the top 2% of players in the game based on their rank. the issue, is that the game's matchmaking is completely luck based, and based on queue times. there are players who are in the top 70% players with 3k mmr who are at rank 35 only because they were'nt lucky enough to go on a big win-streak for these guys.

it's a completely garbage system, full of easily exploitable loopholes(like creating a smurf, stomping low levels, and doing mildly well in your placements while duo'd with a high rank friend. so what you get, is a bunch of people with less than 300 games sitting at rank 1 while having an average MMR at best, while the people who have been playing since beta with 1000+ and a good mmr(2500+) sitting at the lowest ranks in the game because mmr has NOTHING to do with your rank. it's also damn near impossible to just carry your team no matter how good you are. so you get extremely high ranked people matched together, and there's massive glaring skill difference between them even though they may share the same rank.

in league if a diamond is playing with bronzes, odds are he's going to carry them regardless of how bad they are.

in heroes, your whole game is dependent on the weakest link on your team. teamfighting is extremely prevalent due to global objectives, and since everyone shares levels, if one guy isn't doing his job the whole team suffers because of it

tl;dr blizzard is really shitty at pvp and heroes is a massive disappointment because of that.

i guess a better summary would be this

heroes has the potential to be a better game. but due to blizzard being a bunch of morons, being slow about fixing issues that have been brought up since alpha testing, and being more concerned with realeasing cash grabby nostalgia catering heroes, it's a much worse game.

what league has over heroes is infrastructure, and a general idea of what direction it's going in. also personal skill makes a big difference too which is always a plus. even if you're terrible at league, the option of getting better and carrying yourself into higher ranks always exists. meanwhile in heroes, it doesn't matter how damn good you are. the only thing that matters is which team has more dead weight.

Also from my understanding Heroes does not have items so they only way to get stronger is global objectives or leveling which again if you have a teammate that is not doing well you will get set behind.

HoTS is a better game with better potential. But like Scarn said...they are more interested in making money off the game than making the ranked play more specifically for ranked players.

Hots has a lot of great ideas an good potential, but IMO it's wasted by the shared exp "feature" that causes the weakest link issue you mentioned. the level-up perks are cool and give some diversity to your hero, the fact that you can choose between 2 completely different ults is awesome, but the game just has massive issues that blizzard seems to be completely unwilling to fix, which is a damn shame. oh well, at least theres still dawnga-oh.. wait.. nevermind. Interesting. I love to hear that I made the right MOBA choice, so I'm biased into believing you, but I have heard complaints about it.

From what I understand, it just isn't designed as a competitive game, really. It's a for fun game. Kinda like how Smash Bros. is not designed to be competitive, necessarily. It's just supposed to be stupid fun. People play it really seriously, but I get the impression that the designers didn't really consider that too much when they were making the game.

They intentionally added "fuck you competitive" elements in brawl via RNG tripping. And the tripping is random, there's a video of a dude running around with 3 identical marios all hooked up to the same controller, thus doing identical things. Tripping is random among them.

I'm so glad that Nintendo actually admitted that tripping in Brawl was a terrible mistake when they were first revealing SSB4. It shows that they're at least able to learn from their mistakes.

its all because there is less players, more players = more toxic, its not the game, its the people, make hots have the same number of players as league, you do the opposite thing
