Do people realise athenes has been changed?

i see so many people building it as if it were the old athenes still.

or is it just that gold efficient people like can build it?

eitherway it just bugs me to no end.

It's a case of either:

A. They don't read patch notes.

B: They are buying it for the mana regen. Champions who were standard mages always bought either Morello's or Athene's because mana regen just works better; their abilities cost too much to work well with flat mana. The ones who could afford to go flat mana are mages that either have a refund mechanic, are DPS mages so they can stack a Tear, or were so dependent on late game scaling that they doubled down on mana itemization. So they maybe just eating the cost of the efficiency loss because if some mages buy Morello's now, they are spending ~3K gold for an amount of mana that is insufficient for even 2 rotations of standard abilities.

the new athenes works best on champions like alistar and sona, or champions with a shield who lack a heal like lux or karma.

However, that passive is REALLY good and chalice alone fixes mana problems again.

I only used it on Morgana and Nami . Definitely fun but I still miss the old Athenes...

old as in the original one with the good passive, or old as in the previous version? Because i think, personally, rolling mikaels into athenes at this point is a good idea because athenes doesnt have a niche anymore and mikaels could use a buff.

Old as the one we had just before this update.

The athenes that used to be niche to some champions like Lux Velkoz Ziggs Xerath and that none of them builds now.
