I was diamond 5 17 LP last night - what the hell is this match-making?

Why am I being matched with Diamond 4-2's? Why is there a random plat II in my game?

The thing is, I didn't actually feed in lane. My jungler and mid came top and literally gave Gnar 3 kills pre-6 and he also got first blood before minions spawn when Elise decided to go into the enemy jungle alone. I did well all things considered, but everyone literally fed their asses off.

Can I blame them though with this horrendous match-making? Like literally what the fuck is this? And why did I lose 17 LP for playing against players who are rated as being much better than me? This fucking system needs to be changed, your match-making shouldn't be putting me in these kind of games. That has no shot in hell at being a competitive game, even if it somehow managed to be in my favor with all those different ranks in one game.

This was a joke. I didn't deserve to lose LP over this.

lol so funny hate daddy.... yet Im an unrank scrub who gets matched vs diamonds and plats in my normal games... here you are diamond playing vs diamonds and the random plat guy whos mmr is all really close to each other complaining that match making is broken

You don't think there's a problem with match-making putting a diamond 2, 2 diamond 3's, 3 diamond 4's, a diamond 5 and a plat II in one game together. A ranked game? How can you possibly expect that match to be fair. There's too much variation in skill level.

but its perfect fine for me to lane vs a diamond 2 akali main when I was silver last season and unranked this season ?

im not... but diamond vs unranked is a bigger skill game then diamond 5 vs diamond 2 that is my point

you are playing with players of similar skill levels. they are with in your tier just not your division.

you are playing with players of similar skill levels. they are with in your tier just not your division.

Was your game a ranked game? I have a hard time believing a d2 was in a silver ranked game.

if you would of read what I wrote. you would know im unranked this season and it was a normal game.. however I get it normal mmr and rank mmr are different/separate etc however that don't disprove that a diamond 2 player is above my skill and the match making system shouldn't of matched me vs that player

It's a normal game, not a ranked game. While it is annoying and normal match-making should be fixed too, this type of match-making shouldn't be happening in ranked.

but where i agree match making can use work. i dont understand what you expect to be matched against in your games.... as diamond 5 what do you expect you should be playing against?

They are.... you get a plat and a gold with low enough MMR and a a diamond playing together and they land in low gold high silver MMR

im in complete agreement that there needs to be better match making... but a diamond player vs other diamonds players ... I don't see the issue

Its all based on MMR not necessarily rank. Also it could be that were was a duo or 2 on your team

I understand that - but then why am I losing 17 and only gaining 17 at best when I'm being matched with and against players significantly better than I am?

This is totally normal. You think being matched with people two ranks different from you is bad? I see gold 1/2/3 in maybe a third of my games, and rarely low plats. This is in silver 3.

I also frequently get matched with unranked players with a total of 45 pvp games played, who think you play alistar by building jungle/AP items, exhaust and ghost, and dying to enemy brambleback at 6 minutes.

Rank is a joke and a useless measurement of both skill and the matchmaking system, especially in the current season

To be fair, silver 3 is like the baseline elo where newbs start out at.

All it takes to loose a rank or gain a rank is dumb luck in half a dozen games. The probability is very high.

I know a couple bronze V people that are playing on a similar level to a lot of mid-golds, except they main support or jungle, which are basically impossible to climb with at that level, games are just determined by which team gets the most trolls/feeders/newbs/quitters/ragebabies. The difference between D5 and D2 is all of three hours of luck.

But yes, the matchmaking is pants-on-head.

Diamond is just kinda like that now.

Random d2 and d3's in lower diamond games. Or sometimes ending up in a high plat dynamic vs. dynamic team.
