Shield yourself and use your passive boosted autos to win trades. Never underestimate the power of autos early game.

This.

Her passive damage is alot at level one with the pretty decent level 1 shield, running people out of lane easier

Plus, 10 Armor and Magic Resistance are quite a lot at level 1, especially for Orianna who has the lowest base Armor in the game (not counting Thresh who only needs 1 soul to catch up at level 1 and Mini-Gnar at level 18).

especially considering it will block the enemies 1 ability whether it be syndra or tf or anyone

then its even advantage (or even more cause you might still have some shielding)

but they wont win with their autos unlike you

Supposed to auto trade with shield, but people don't. They just saw pros do it and copy.

Shield + Resistances are useful for reducing damage taken when harassing the opponent.

Thunderlord's Decree and her passive-enhanced autoattacks provide sufficient damage.

Yeah people here answered it perfectly. Her E provides a nice shield and resistances to mitigate incoming damage. Her passive allows for auto attacks to gain damage as she uses them . So while blocking damage, she can dish out alot and win the level 1 trades.

I take thunderlord on ori. Leveling e first gives you 10 armor and mr. Q at lvl 1 doesnt give as much harass potential in my opinion. With e, u can walk up and start auto attacking for the bonus damage from passive. use shield to block incoming minion damage or return damage from enemy champ. proc thunderlords and back off
