Cassiopeia hits level 2

That's what happens when retards beg for buffs on a newly reworked champion with hardly any practice on them.
Retards? That's uncalled for. And it wasn't that the champion needed practice, it was literally that she was utter sh*t. You couldn't do any damage whatsoever until late. And than, you'd powerspike and do stupid amounts of damage. Playing her, was literally playing farmville for 30 mins.
Now I agree she is in a messy place right now. I'm pretty unhappy with it as well. But this is completely uncalled for.
Besides. People didn't ask for buffs. We asked for another rework.

Lol
At this rate she could just stand to be nerfed. Your playstyle changed, boo hoo. It's going to happen to all the older champions eventually, even my main Nasus, will be reworked eventually and his playstyle will change. I might not like it but it will be what it will be. Generally, with teworks, riot gets it right. And if they end up being a bit overtuned, like Cass is currently, simple nerfs will suffice.
You know who's playstyle has never been changed, despite being approximately the oldest champion in League and having an update?

You know who has the only playstyle that was officially deemed toxic and ban worthy if used?

Gotta choose your examples well.
When did that happen and who did it?
Also, ever heard of Denyplank? Google it to learn what is really toxic.
Proxy Singed. Got very popular for a short while, then they came down on it hard.
I've heard of it, wasn't around for it though. Something about using his Q to deny your own creeps Dota style, if I recall correctly.
Proxy Singed? I know I proxy farm with him frequently. What is it that you think proxying is? I wouldn't consider proxy farming a ban worthy offense (or an offense at all).
And yeah, GP deny was ridiculous; you can look it up on Youtube. You could basically eliminate most of the gold from your minions (as in all of your melees in first wave and then tower farm while denying your cannons from there).
As weird as it sounds, the guy that supposedly started the trend of proxy-farming as Singed was banned for it. I forget what Riot technically called that playstyle, but it did get him banned. When it happened there was a massive outcry on the old forums about it. Here's a thread that explains things more. http://forums.na.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=3539887
The dates on those posts will show you how old this was, and I think Singed was nerfed and the way enemies earned gold from kills was reworked to make it less viable. I remember it being a pain, but I didn't see much of it in my games. After the first few bans went out, people stopped doing it for a while.
According to the thing you linked it looked like the issue was that when the strategy didn't work it looked to much like intentional feeding. So he wasn't banned for proxy farming, but for what the strategy looked like to those unfamiliar with it.
I never played Cassiopeia ever, but I would always see people get raged at in pre game for picking Cassiopeia post rework.
Was Cassi really THAT bad before her post-rework buffs?
Well I think it was back in season 2 where she was consider one of the strongest mages. I mean theoretically she is one of the strongest mages since she can hypercarry. After her post rework people hated the new cass the first couple months. Her poison dmg and early game was reduced to a ridiculous level, all in exchange of an even stronger late game, which she already possessed. Her passive sounds good all in paper, but it was technically a farming phase like nasus for her to hit 400 stacks. Until they changed to to 500 stacks, with 1 stack adding every 6 seconds. But anyways, old cass was not bad. It's just meta changes, and people prefer to play champions who are more mobile, burstier and snowball extremely fast, like assassins. Not to mention, not many people know how to properly play cass.
Before the buffs, she didn't do anything until she had the full 300 stacks, when she had seraphs/rod/rabadons (remember this is off almost no damage) + zhoynas in a perfect world, and then she was great... but that was at 30 minutes, you were 3 dragons down from fighting a bunch of 3v4's and 4v5's; her Q didn't do damage because the E's didn't stack ticks of poison (the way it actually works is a weird % buff to poison damage, right?), the Q speed was really low early, and the scaling on everything was worse than it was now (despite the only viable build being "get 1.5k AP or feed") It was a nightmare to play, and picking Cassio, a pre rework niche, but playable, champ, felt like damning your team to a surrender at 20. I agree that now she's in an unhealthy place with the good old "level 2, you die" and should probably have to give up some sort of safety she has, but I have to think it's better than just not playing league for 30 minutes of every game. (the also change the way stacks work; it used to be on poisoned minion kill, not just how long the game's been... it was sooooo slooooow).
That's what happens when retards beg for buffs on a newly reworked champion with hardly any practice on them.
I don't know why you keep getting downvoted. Literally everything you are saying is true.
I don't know why you keep getting downvoted. Literally everything you are saying is true.
But it's not true. Talk all you want about the problems with Cass and her balance but the idea that she didn't need buffs after her rework is ridiculous. She may have gotten buffed too much but she was terrible back then, the win rate supported it and the theory that people just didn't know how to play her is idiotic. Nobody has discovered a new way to play Cass, they're doing the exact same things with her that they did before the buffs, except with actual success. What evidence is there to support the idea that Cass wasn't actually bad but people just didn't know how to play her, exactly?
This isn't one of the times where Riot releases a new champion that looks awful at first and gets buffed before people figure out how to play them. There was basically nothing new to learn about Cass outside of shifting towards greater focus on Twin Fang, it's insane to think previous mains could have simply forgotten how to play her.

Then you realize that win rates are an absolutely bullshit statistic to reference to make a point, except in massive and extreme cases, Ie, Rek'sai release.

You need more arguments than "lol winrates". Winrates are not to be swore by but when a champion who was realistically only ever played by her mains suddenly has a 44% win rate, there is a problem. I don't know how Rek'Sai having a 55% win rate post-release (5% over 50%) matters while Cass having a 44% win rate (6% less than 50%, i.e. objectively more extreme) doesn't.
I made a variety of points in my post that did not hinge on winrate to back up my view that she was in need of buffs rather than in need of people learning her. You on the other hand have given absolutely nothing to support the idea that she was never actually bad. Do you ever intend to or do you really think you just feeling that she wasn't bad is of more relevance than the facts?
That's ok, I didn't want to lane anyway.
Meh... the only thing Cass can do when lvl 2 is go OOM.
Meanwhile Riven with ignite will kill you, even when lvl 1.
Notes it is on old SR, pre VU.
I wonder... could this be outdated?

What is mana?
Except Cassiopeia early game is terrible and her weakest point. Of course, if you stand still, get hit by her stuff, and then try to walk away, you're gonna have a bad time, but if you can gapclose onto her ass OR if you outrange her, you can probably bully her.
http://champion.gg/champion/Cassiopeia
Her early game winrate is abysmal, precisely because of this. And her main counters are, of course, people who can jump her ass (Zed, Kata, Talon) or people who outrange her and fuck her up (Vel'Koz, Karthus).
Of course, in the tank meta, a sustained damage AP carry is hella strong, so there's that.

So some champions can kinda deal with her early, where she just farms safely and gets a few more levels and bullies them too lol
By the way, she would absolutely maul Zed and Talon at level 2, karthus could theoretically cheese her if he manages to clear the entire wave and land isolated Qs on her. But she could also just poke/kite, rinse repeat.
Some champions can kinda deal with her early, which brings her winrate from 51% down to 45% against these champs, yes. She is very counterable, and a non-fed, non-farmed Cassiopeia is utterly useless since she's one of the most gold-dependent champions.
She isn't healthy, mainly because this game shouldn't be about counterpicks and should be more about counterplay, but the same thing goes for a lot of midlaners, most point-and-click assassins fit this same criteria.
She's far from OP though, and she is more healthy than her previous incarnation.

She's only going to be gold starved if you absolutely shit on her, which isn't easy to do. She's still going to bully champions to all end for the majority of the roster, the only real choice most champs have is getting jungle help. I'm fine with picks/counterpicks being a big thing because it's hard to make it not a thing after having so many champions in this game. I'm not fine with there being limited choices in dealing with her, because she scales so fucking hard as both a teamfighter and duelist. Ultimately, somebody who scsles this hard shouldn't have such power early game against the majority of the roster.
If she was "bullying champions to all end for the majority of the roster" she wouldn't be looking at early game winrate of about 46% (Compare with Pantheon, who is an actual lane bully, sporting an early game winrate of about 57%).
Her early game is terrible, and her relevance is only until much later in the game, if you're having that much trouble, I recommend asking a teammate of yours who's skilled with her to lane against you until you see what's costing you so much, or even playing as her to see what her weaknesses feel like.
She is not hard to shut down, she is irrelevant for a large portion of the game, she's easily counterpicked, but most importantly, the numbers actually support these things that I'm saying. If you don't feel like doing the ballsy thing and picking an assassin against her to try and snowball off her CC-less, short ranged, immobile, squishy ass, you can pick a long range siege mage like Xerath and deny her gold entirely.

She isn't short ranged lol
Her shortest ranged ability is her twin fang at 700, everything else is literally 800+.
She also has a 20% ms boost her Q and it slows, not to mention her ult. She's still relatively immobile but she has ways to deal with it and she has CC and kiting/chasing for days.
I really want to know how they measure the success of a champion early game. Quite frankly, she's not easy to play so I would look at those stats and only use them as evidence for so much. She's oppressive as shit early, saying she's not is retarded. And she shits on most assassins actually, because she can kite/cc them and bully them early when they're weak. Leblanc might be an exception. Not to mention she can also go top lane where she bullies everything in existence not named Irelia.
To be honest, I think those numbers don't mean much of anything because you're pointing at early game winrate, which is something that is impacted by so much shit outside of the champions control. And as I noted, like Leblanc, Cass is hard as shit to play. I suspect most people are just bad with her, yes even in higher elo.
And Xerath would be safe vs her but I seriously don't see him shutting her down, sorry.
You might be doing something wrong, did you look at the site I posted?, It points out her winrate in games that end before the 25 min mark, and in games that end before the 35 min mark. If you look at those numbers, they are really low, which suggests her laning power is weak and she rarely gets to snowball, compare this to Pantheon, he is a true bully, and accordingly, his winrate for short games is very high.
The site I posted is diamond league data, people don't get to diamond playing champions they don't know how to play. If you feel oppressed by her early game you might be doing something wrong, because empirical evidence points against her early game being strong, in fact her winrate is mostly because of those 40+ min games where she becomes, understandably, insane.
In the toplane she's at her weakest, because her immobility and lack of CC means she has little to do when ganked, and since toplane is a long lane, she won't make it to tower before dying. (Lane length is the main reason why escapeless mages go mid, the more you know) This means that ANY char can snowball off her.
Winrate is impacted by lots of things, but over a large enough sample those things cancel eachother out.
You forget that if she misses her Q, she has no damage what-so-ever.
Also take into consideration her power-spike. Yes she can bully hard at level 2, but upon first recall, all Cassiopeia players buy a
. Unless they also have 860 spare gold, they can't buy a
. So for the next 5-10 mins, she's actually pretty weak.
If she faces champions like
or
, who has amazing level 6 burst, she gets absolutely destroyed if she tries to fight.
i dunno have you tried using your ult and landing it?
These are diamond league statistics, are you assuming these guys CAN'T land their ults?.
yeah im pretty they dont mean anything. what board taught me is that even tho you can be a bronze 5 you can still have challenjour game knowlegde and #winratedoesntmeananything hence why leblanc is balanced. i mean its not like sejunai has been the highest winrate champ since forever but lol balanced xDDD and jinx too
I...I'm not even sure if you're agreeing with me, or if it's sarcasm, or trolling...
But yeah, Jinx and Sej need nerfs, Lee Sin and Yasuo are balanced, as are Zed and LeBlanc (who may actually need a buff), and you can't ignore numerical data like some luddite because it doesn't fit your anecdotal stuff.

And you can't also pretend that numerical data means everything. Furthermore. I still want to know how you collect data and determine a champions "early game winrate." To me, there's no way you collect that as worthwhile evidence because it's going to be flawed as fuck.
You want to talk about numerical data? You saying she's short when her spells ranges are 850, 700, 800 and 825 respectively. That's not short ranged. Mordekaiser is short ranged, Ryze is short ranged, Vlad is short ranged. You saying she's ccless and implying she has no way to deal with mobility when she does. Cass can literally kite everything, especially once she gets a rylais. Where in your flaw numbers are you going to point out she can't? I'm not saying numbers don't lie, I'm saying numbers can be skewed and poorly sampled.
Early game winrate is pretty easy actually. You just need to pick a time frame to call early game and then look at games that end around that time period. That or just compare the length of games she loses and see if they are disproportionately the shorter ones.
As far as range, I would call her medium range. However she doesn't get the advantages that a lot of shot/mid ranged mages get in the way of durability.
I think he's doing all of those... At once.
does it all.

Oh Hatedaddy I miss you from the old boards, I think this is the first of your threads I've found myself in since the transition. Up vote because its you.
Now troll away my good sir, troll away.

Yea thats why you see Cass in every game. O wait.
You're forgetting Cassiopeia before stupid rework.
You're forgetting Cassiopeia before stupid rework.
Eh, I don't play
, but her rework fixed nothing that Riot actually pretended to fix (oppressive lane bully) and they destroyed her theme (poison snake lady).
Cass before her rework was perfect.
She had an interesting passive. You had to manage your passive very carefully if you did not want to go oom, so timed aggression was key. Her Q was her main damage. It felt good to use, but it also gave the opponent some time to react and dodge it. Since her main damage was a dot spell, it was perfect for a poison using mage.
Now, compare this to new Cass. You get hit by Q one time, you are done for. She will spam her point and click nuke on your face and there is nothing you can do about it aside sustain it or leave lane. Add to this a boring passive that bring nothing interesting to her play style and you got what I would like to call a "fail rework".
Nobody complained about Cass before. Nobody wanted a rework. Riot did it anyway because reasons. Look at the results.

Sounds like AP
.
But didn't her E CD refresh on poisoned targets even before rework?
They made it more responsive (refresh on cast instead of on hit) so you theoretically have more damage unless they were in melee range so they basically gutted her Q and W (because of the buffs which allowed her to spam E slightly more) and then added that scaling passive to gut her kit even more to try and prevent her from being a lane bully
Though of course on release of the rework she was crap as her E was bugged and refreshed to 0.7 seconds instead of 0.5 so it also was worse then before

Sounds like AP
.
But didn't her E CD refresh on poisoned targets even before rework?
It did. But before the rework, Cass was more a "worn the enemy out" champion then a "nuke" champion.
Cass used to land Q during laning phase, then back off a bit, land another Q, then back off a bit. The damage on her E was lower so she did not feel like she was "forced" to spam E as soon as she landed a Q. This is the case now, and why we see this ultra aggressive Cass level 2 and above.
pre rework there were 2 weaker playstyles, a poking, max Q (traditional) style that had been nerfed out of relevance, and a weird pseudo-carry Max E style. They decided to double down on the "max E" style before realizing that being nuked sucks, so to make it fair they delayed a bunch of power in her passive (and yes, the old passive was dumb, I think this one does a bunch of cool things and probably just shouldn't have the % max AP BS weighing it down).
I'm still trying to figure out why people are crying over the Cass rework. She is by no means under powered.
