Unpopular opinion: Ahri's bonus movement speed is fine

you're all talking about her bonus movement speed, but have you ever realised that her Q IS ON FREAKING SEVEN SECONDS COOLDOWN?

Recently i realised that even against Yasuo And this is because while Q has a decent mana cost the cooldown is absurdly low, it makes me able to lower minions's hp while of course having the bonus ms, but then i'm able to come back and do it again 7 seconds later and sometimes he would get it by hit and then the hp i lose sometimes would be back with the passive

it's the same thing against zed, this makes me able to go even against zed while zed used to be a decent pick in lane against ahri

IMO riot should change ahri's Q cd to something like A/B/C/D/E Q cd being increased massively would make her laning phase way harder, it would nerf her safety, nerf her harass, nerf her sustain ect...

It would also nerf her in to not being viable.

Ahri already has the lowest damage of all similar champions in the game (i.e. champions whose primary purpose is to deal magic damage, so excluding ad champs [who do more anyways] and tanks/supports.

Ahri's sustained damage is vastly outclassed by that of real sustain damage mages - e.g. cassio /Ryze or even viktor/Syndra/anivia/etc...

Ahri's burst damage is incredibly outclassed by almost all mages/assassins (she may out burst Ryze or cassio but they'll make it up in sustained dps).

Ahri's zone control / aoe damage is outclassed by control mages (eg viktor / anivia / Lux / etc...) although she ranks more highly on the list here.

Taking a champion's core damage ability and increasing the cooldown by anything more than a second (and scaling it back up) is going to hurt - doing it to one who's supposed to be dealing damage and is useless otherwise (and being good at escaping is not useful to your team if you can't do damage while alive...) is going to make them useless.

This is kind of why I see riot not wanting to touch her. They didn't like pure assassin ahri so they went with well rounded kite mage. Messing with her role in the game is going to see a lot of resistance and no matter what, her haters will still be complaining about her a week later.

You just can't win with the Ahri haters.

nowhere it's written that ahri is supposed to do damage in early game

First - apologies for the phone typo, i meant to type something else (I'm guessing otherwise rather than anyways, as ahri is not presently worthless).

To my point: If ahri is not meant to do damage early game, what is she meant to do? She doesn't naturally out scale her opponent and get the 100-0 ability for free by just farming (like say, Syndra does). She doesn't scale in to a hyper carry (like azir or Karthus for example). She doesn't bring much utility (a 1 second charm on an easy to dodge skillshot if she doesn't flash or r to use it).

Ahri is meant to deal damage - especially early. She's heavily gated by her mana costs - if she wasn't mana gated ahri would get fed early game almost every game. In fact, i pretty much only lose early game with ahri if i overestimate my mana and go for a 1v1 1v2 or 2v2 and go oom before getting the kill (then dying myself). However past 6, ahri loses any duel or skirmish if she doesn't outplay or have numbers. Ahri has potential to outplay (however everyone has potential to dodge charm) and she's good at getting a numbers advantage (can roam well thanks to that Q) - which is what makes her successful. Take away her only reasonable waveclear and simultaneously her poke and dueling damage and she's literally gutted.

If riot nerfs her early to mid game, then they'd have to do something to buff her mid to late game. So that means better AP scaling on her Q and passive.

Ahri has no harass in lane unless you are a potato her range is low compared to every other mid laner and her base damage, scaling, and etc are WAY lower then every other mage. Her sustain is pretty bad, and if you are spending her Q to sustain, you then have no ability to trade and it sucks up your mana In terms of nerfing her safety, imma compare her with lb Do you gank LB when she has W? No Do you gank Ahri when she has Q? No There you go, before 6 she has very little safety and CAN be ganked very effectively, once she hits 6, and she blows it to get away (she is never gonna kill anyone ever during the cooldown which in fact is 110 seconds at lvl 1) Nerfing her Q cooldown like that is like saying, "Lets put syndra's E on a 30 second cooldown because it gives it to much safety) Also, Ahri's Q doesn't go down in cooldown each rank, it is a flat 7 seconds
