The way everyone else has. We were all there before.
That means someone on his team is a smurf who is as good or nearly as good as a diamond player. The system can tell if you're a smurf and will match you with them. The matchmaking sorta tries to even things out. If one team has a superstar the other team usually will to, at least in low level games like this one. If you happen to be abnormally good at the game even as a new player you'll be queued with the smurfs.
If hes playing normals, then the diamond player isnt diamond in normals in normal MMR. The queues have different MMR backings.
Not to mention they likely are playing with a friend.
