I would also like this clarified.
However, my girlfriend, Mizuki, is a Support main and even with KDA's that aren't amazing has gotten an S+, she has now earned a lot of S's on almost every support. Just to clarify we're both not particularly amazing players in anyway, we're both Bronze and tend to stick to normal games. Some of her S games:
- 7/0/11 (Understandable S here)
- 2/3/17
- 7/3/19
- 2/6/37
There have been KDA's not as good as these and awarded an S.
Now, what absolutely baffles me, is that I perform just as well and sometimes better in KDA as an ADC, and only occasionally go negative. We're always together, so, nearly always if one does well, the other does too (at least until out of laning phase). **But in my entire career of playing League, I have never achieved an S rank. A+ at the most. **
Some of my own KDA's:
- 21/1/2
- 14/3/8
- 8/1/5
- 15/3/8
I've also had games go much better than these I just picked out my history, often getting Quadras and Pentas with Jinx (it's nearly always jinx).
Something a bit more dubious? Mizuki also got an S playing one-off as an ADC and me as support with 13/2/4.
On another thread just now, someone just got an S using Nidalee with 11/8/8.
This worries me, as despite my wins or how good my KDA's may be, I have no idea what I need to do get an S. I'm sure there is some sort of complex algorithm behind this, but it would be nice if it was made a little less transparent - especially since the introduction of ranks 6 and 7 which depend on S ratings.

I've never gotten an S with 10-20 assists...I've only gotten S's on supports with AT LEAST 20+ assists.
Like, I hate it how it seems to focus more on kda. I might go something like, idk, 2/3/15 for example. I could've had some REALLY great plays, and some REALLY great saves, but the system won;t know that, it'll just look at my kda.
I don't think it accounts for match length too. I only usually get 20+ assists if the game goes on for a long time or we happen to be teamifhgting a lot. If the enemy forfeits or the game ends pretty short, I'm not gonna have 30+ assists, but for the time that we played I'd think I had a lot. I don't think it accounts for the length too.
To me, it seems, it just looks at your kda, but I've heard kills count more than assists, so I've been having a tough time getting S's on my supports because I'm not gonna be taking kills in order to rank up lol.
I don't know, I son't think anyone from Riot explained how it works so we are all just kinda guessing at this point. It doesn't seem to be consistent either.
Like the other day, my friend who was playing Blitz went 7 kills 1 death, while our Kha went 9 kills 1 death. Blitz got an S, Kha didn't, but he had a better score.
Our Blitz did have a couple more assists, but our Kha had more kills, which I believe count more, so I'm not really sure how it graded it.
And then I went 5 kills and 0 deaths and only got an A :c
