Vayne's range is low (compared to other ADCs) because she does not have any abilities that affect enemies beyond her autoattack range. Pretty much every other ADC has one or more abilities which affect targets beyond their autoattack range.

Lucian has Q, W, and R. Sivir has Q. Graves has Q and R. Urgot has Q and E. Varus has Q, E, and R. Corki has Q and R. Ezreal has Q, W, and R. Draven has E and R. Quinn has Q. Ashe has W and R. Caitlyn has Q and R. Jinx has W and R. Kog'maw has E and R. Miss Fortune has Q (when bounced) and R. Kalista has Q.

The only other ADCs I can think of who can't affect others beyond autoattack range are Tristana and Twitch, who both have extended autoattack ranges (permanent and temporary, respectively).

Because her range is truly low. And they need to say something why their main is not broken.
