Mages need more options to itemize against ADs

I'd be happy if you guys would give your reasons for downvotes. Otherwise it kinda feels like weak. It took me a while to write this thread. Be so nice and don't trash it for whatever reasons. EDIT: we got downvoting troll onboard. Unless.. it's my personal hateful stalker.

ADs have: item 3140 -> item 3139 item 3155 -> item 3156 item 3814 (even this could be used item 3091 )

That totals to 95 MR along with very usefull perks (135 with wits end).

While mages have just old & nerfed item 3157

Just this one item with only 45 armor. Has low amount of AP, compared to AD counterparts. On top of that it's active was nerfed for only god knows what reason

I know mages could buy randuins or frozen heart, but it's kind of counterintuitive to play mage yet build mild-damage tank, while AD becomes natural tank with some serious power under that thick magic armor for no reason.

There was idea of introducing Moonflair Spellblade, but tbh i'm shivering on just a though of tanky-AP-divers like Diana buying it (btw what's the point to play Akali, if Diana does her job 10 times better and actually kills & survives?).

Here are my few ideas (for some numbers lets say mages will get 600 AP max per game. That's reasonable, isn't it?): Remember old Xeraths passive? He gets armor for %AP he has. In lategame with around 700 AP he'd get around 80-90 armor from passive alone.

  1. Item: Old Xeraths Guts 30 AP 15% of your AP converts to ARMOR (90 armor) 5% of your AP converts to Magic Resistance (30 mr) Active: You can lock a target which will deal 20% less damage to you for 3 seconds. CD: 60-90s (Something like Phantom Dancer, but less broken) Price: I dunno, figure that out yourself

  2. Introduce mastery: 10% of bonus AD converts to MR 10% of AP converts to armor (there could be also HP->Mana/Mana->HP conversion passive) Anyways, numbers have to be really meaningfull.

  3. Rework Zhonya: Add alot more armor. 90-100 or even more. Gut Ap to something silly 20-30 Remove CDR, cause it's pointless there. Active: CD return to 90s

  4. Or if you don't want to rework Zhonya, add stacking mechanism on active, where whenever Zhonya is used her CD permanently reduces by 2-3s and adds tiny bit of armor (like 3-4 armor per use) But seriously, Zhyona needs more armor. Alot more. OR AT LEAST make this armor count NOT as a bonus armor.

  5. This is probably the most proper way, yet most difficult: Remove powercreep lingering on AD itemization. That also means reverting armor & survivablity-related nerfs for non ADs

  6. Item: Gankplanks phantom Keg of true damage Some Ap, 40-60 Some armor, 30-50 Some HP, 200-300 Active: For 2 seconds you deal only 10% damage, but you also receive only 10% of damage. Can pass trough minions. CD: 90-120s Active CD reduces by 5 seconds whenever you lose more than 10-20% of you max HP in 1 second

  7. Item: Alistars manly breasts Note: You can't milk those Some Hp 200-300 Some Mana 200-400 Some Armor 30-50 Passive: After taking 30-40% of your max HP under x seconds relase cleansing wave removing CC from you and reduce incoming damage by 30% for x seconds. CD 90s. CD is reduced by 1s per enemy minion/summon killed. Enemy champions take 3s off CD.

item 3285 is an excellent anti AD item for mages

If you want AP champs to have more options against AD champs

then AP champs have to lose their range advantage and waveclear.

Zed Talon Akali

All are risk picks because as opposed to a standard mid laner

think Syndra Brand Lux Velkoz ( Picking out common ones i see )

You lose waveclear which is a very important thing to have on a team.

And please for the love of god dont be that fucking person to tell me zed has waveclear.

Late game its way easier for vel koz and syndra to spam their skills at a completely safe distance rather than zed or talon who have to be in melee distance to kill that 1 person.

( Im an adc main and id rather fight talon or zed as opposed to brand or vel koz )

Its a concerted effort by riot to restrict the amount of armor+damage items in the game. I have no idea why but previous track record with shit like Atma's Impaler and Wriggle's Lantern are any indication there could be something about that combination of stats that is problematic.

Positioning is an excellent anti AD factor for mages.

Try it some time.

AD don't really get that privilege vs mages. Especially if they're melee. Its 100% "stay out of range unless they fuck up" as either ranged or melee.

AP champs don't beat AD champs by tanking them. They win by staying out of the AD champ's range.

Zhonya's gives plenty of armor. If you want more, you can buy Ninja Tabi or Frozen Heart.

Lux, Brand, Zyra, Syndra, and Annie don't seem like they need any help dealing with ADs, especially squishy ones.

Also, keep in mind that tanky mages like Swain and Ryze would abuse such an item. Dealing with them can be hard enough for any AD, let alone if they're melee or have 525 (or less) range.

any one else notice how 3 ad mr items were called and 1 ap armor item had half the the armor as they had mr together. Also like how all your changes benifit supposed to be squishy characters into tanks but nothing for tanks really Atamas empailer any one and an ap verison too Make Sion viable again.....(outside of korean support)

I honestly agree but what I have done is built ninja tabis during early to mid game then sell them for pen or cdr. This makes it so I can kill the adc a couple of times before reaching late where they auto me once and im dead

Reaper Soraka12/12/2016, 1:16:55 AM1 votes

Need an item that builds out of Rabadon's Cap + Thornmail.

It can be like: +120AP +120Armor +35% AP bonus Auto attacks against you return 15% of the damage dealt +25% of your total AP to the attacker in magic damage.

I mean you're still going to die because every AD builds 2-3 armor pen items, but at least your thorns will hit them for like 250 in that one auto they use on you.
