Why do pros like Lucian if they never do lane phase?

As the question says

The majority of pros skip lane phase and go straight to team phase by forceing lane swaps and trading towers.

The two major pros to lucian in my opinion are the following

1-A laneing god who almost never loses lane phase -Then since he won lane phase he can now snow ball the mid game

2-A good team fighter from his mobility that allows him to focus down targets

I feel with how pro play differs from solo que, that what makes lucian so good does not really shine in profesional play.

So what is everyones opinion on lucian?

-What do you think makes him a top tier adc? -Why do pros like him despite solo que vs pro play differences -Is he good or just over hyped?

Good to see people are still posting on topics while knowing nothing about them..... You have no idea why lucian is picked lets get that straight. Like your first sentence

" 1-A laneing god who almost never loses lane phase -Then since he won lane phase he can now snow ball the mid game"

just awful. Shows you have no idea how league is even played. So for the love of wasting everyones time stop.

Because Lucian has been and still is incredibly overpowered with no real weaknesses and crazy burst damage and sustained damage output. His range is suppose to be a weakness, but with a low cd gap closer, 40% cdr, and coordination with teammates (this more applies to the pro scene, but is still applicable at lower levels, though not to the same degree) his "low" range isn't really an issue.

Side note: this isn't just me being biased (well maybe a bit). In the 6.4 patch notes they have compared Lucian to graves before the rework and stated some of the things I mentioned above. I wouldn't be suprised nor against Lucian nerfs in the future, and I think they are coming. He is on the radar in a big way. And while the ulti range isn't the biggest nerf in the world, I expect that is the first of a few Lucian nerfs we will see over the next few patches.

He's picked because he can kill minions.

  • Insane safety all game long makes it pretty much impossible for him to be rendered irrelevant
  • Doesn't need to get a lead in the laning phase to do well mid/late - is a mid-game monster and is capable of 1v1ing pretty much every single ADC in the mid game no matter what
  • Huge DPS in the late game thanks to easily accessed 30-40% CDR. Last season he fell off so hard because he didn't scale as well with attack speed as other carries but now that he can opt into the stat he scales best with (CDR) he has closed the gap a lot
  • Buffed ult means he's good in pretty much every situation again. He's incredibly difficult to defend a tower from because he can clear a wave or poke people out with it on a low cooldown and he's also incredibly difficult to push against because he can effortlessly clear the minions you need to push or force you to back by getting you low.

Lucian's early game isn't the reason he's an LCS pick. He was (and is) an LCS pick because of the insane amount of situations that he's good in. Lucian has no real weakness no matter how long the game goes on and that's what pro players want.
