Riot has not released a new tank in 28 months
Its almost as if ignoring a significant part of the rock paper scissors aspect of your game for 3 years is like... not good or something.

because the moment a tank is viable people cry a fucking river about it
hashinshin for example has been bitching and moaning for over 6 months that tanks are trash in the last 2-3 weeks he has been bitching and moaning about every tank he encounters poppu ornn mao etc
tanks and tank meta is the best part of the game because they extend the game and action it's not about who throws the first punch it's about who navigates the fight and game properly and that kind of gameplay doesn't adhere to the adhd demographic of the player base
Why is this post getting downvotes? Its true, riot wants to genocide the tank role
I really hope they have a plan to rejuvenate the tank role
Because if riot would give every champion +1 armor people would start crying tank meta.
I was thinking about it the other day. They started to twist this game into a deathmatch/fighting game a long ago.
Now they're about to release a "juggernaut" (by coincidence another weeb-friendly champ, for skins), and I'm pretty sure he's gonna be another 100-0 champ, with no actual tanki-sh features. We will see.
Almost like they know it wouldnt work because itemization is kinda trash
Several reasons:
Riot doesn't know how to make a proper tank feel good. Look at Zac, Poppy or Mao. Really hard to kill, really frustrating to deal with. and will often be in top 3 highest damage in the game. Because all Riot balance team knows is damage, too little damage = buff, too much damage = nerf (unless you are Akali apparently).
Tank items are garbage, a new Tank will have all the same problems tanks have now. Basically more Tanks isn't the solution, better Tank items is.
They aren't flashy enough. Tanking damage is not exciting and its power can not be seen in a K/D ratio. They want that 20/3 Aphelios. The flashy Tanks like Malphite now just build damage instead of tank, they are more like suicide bombers.
The community doesn't know what it wants. They say they want Tanks, but then complain when they can't 100-0 an ADC or duel a fighter. Despite what the community says, the majority WANTS this absurd damage. They don't want Tanks, its mostly the long time players that want Tanks because they remember when the game was strategy based and Tanks are key to this.
Tanks are too simple. You don't have 5 passives, at least 3 mechanics that break the established rules of the game, or an overly complicated ability for no reason other than it looks flashy. Tanks are too simple of a concept, not much you can do with them. They take damage, they CC. Thats it.
Maybe Riot should figure out a new, fresh and original design for a tank instead of the brainless homogenous "Dash into the enemy team and CC them for 2 years" tanks we have now.
I understand that is the role of a tank champion, but that does not mean that every champion in the tank class should be the same champion re-branded.
is the only viable tank that can put up a decent fight against most meta top laners. But i fear for his safety.
Why would you play tank when you can play more survivable champs like Ekko or Akali who can one-shot your whole team than just press R to get out.
They also remove hadora, and tanks lost a different item to build... frozen heart, randuin and thornmail has the same passive... the tanks items are repetitives and most of them actually are weaks... I already enjoyed playing tank, today I avoid to not get angry.
Yeah. We need interesting tanks.

It's been longer since they released a Jungler.
