My Gnar Review

For me at the moment he needs to be looked at:

Mini Q Really bugged will often not hit at all, hitbox is bad, will sometime re-curve super randomly aswell. Doesn't seem to do much damage at all, damage should not be reduced (the 50% for all targets after the 1st) and should deal damage on the return trip aswell (to the same target).

Mega Q SO LONG TO CAST. Speed up the animation. Hitbox also abit buggy.

Mini W This is his best part of his kit.

Mega W Hitbox is abit off but mostly fine.

Mini E So buggy needs to make you "untargatable", far to often you will try to E onto an enemy to get away and instead you make it easier for them to stun you and kill you, that's why you should be "untargatable" when you use it.

Use E on Rammus in Q (powerball) form to see what I mean, he's not the only champion this happens on.

Maybe (Big Maybe) Make his E should reset if it kills the unit he jumps on, opening more options to make plays, especially in the jungle.

Mega E Hitbox bit buggy, mostly fine.

Mini R Kinda pointless and really should actually do more.

Mega R Hitbox buggy, but mostly fine .

General

  • His AA is abit off, as people have stated.
  • Mega Gnar is so SLOW. Could maybe increase his base MS
  • Cooldowns should be separate for Mini and Mega.

Overall I think that he gets very annoying at points, he never seems to really shine. It feels like your meant to do a combo in mini form then transform into a mega form and do a combo, but since you don't control it, it makes it every weird to play and kinda ruins him to play as you feel like you get screwed over alot cause of the transformation.

Yes, sometimes it goes perfectly for you but most of the time your in the wrong form to what you want to be, this then makes him feel badly balanced, it stops him from being a really good champion and then making him annoying to play, and far to often you get screwed by the transformation.

His transformation is also massively to advertised, when play against him all you do is back off when he gets close to transforming, if it has to be uncontrollable make it so that the enemy can't see when your going to transform, this way it actually allows you to use the mega form and not constantly have the enemy back off when your near transforming.

Please leave your opinions and comments below on what you think of Gnar and my suggestion above.

I have to agree on Mini E. As an escape it's far too unreliable because unless you're trying to escape someone with literally no stuns, you're going to be stunned almost every time. Try jumping over an Udyr or a Fizz, or a Lee Sin. It will never happen the way you want it to.

Totally agree, the reason I said untargatable is that its the only way to really fix the issue of being hit while jumping on people.

Maybe make it so while your in a Bush even if visible to the enemy they can't see your rage bar or rage animation I have not had to much trouble getting off any combos with him I noticed you can cast his boulder toss immediatly after a stun and as long as you pay attention to your cds transforming isn't much of a problem

I think it should be made that they can't see your rage bar ever but they see Gnar going red (his character model) this way it adds abit of skill to countering it, but still alows people to do it.

There is only 2 real problems i see with Gnar, the first is very simple and that is sometimes when standing still his Q will go off in a random direction or go just past you and you dont notice it will miss until it actually does.

The second problem is how easy it is to notice when Gnar will transform, most people will just back off long before you transform and then poke you down from afar if able or wait for you to transform back or push the lane so the can farm at turret.

Also, its not really a problem its more like me being bad, but i can never use his Ult. It never seems there is a good opportunity to use it or i die before i can or i just waste it and knock them to the side a bit. Anyone else have issues on when to use his Ult?

Now the ult is tricky i find plenty of use for it. So it really is just knowing when to use it, because if u can it really is a great ult.Gnar No Mega Gnar picture :(

It is tricky i have used it sometimes perfectly in the jungle and got triple and quad stuns but you have to literally be in them to do it that well, and most of the time you never can really use it in normal fights.

Cause his mega-gnar is so immobile that it is very hard to position yourself to get a stun ult, normaly if you don't get a really good position with the transformation its rare you will be able to ult proerly and not just "do abit of damage"

If you compare Gnar ult to the next closes, which is Lee Sin's ult (both knock backs that require positioning, look at how often you see a good lee sin kick (and he is SUPER mobile), it is rare to see a lee kick into terrain to his team, most of the time its used as an execute or damage dealer. Now you have to try to do something similar on Mega Gnar who has alot less mobility and once he transforms can't really position except for his E or Flash.

Well i can use it well enough in a team fight or against several people because knocking multiple enemies into a wall will turn the tides of a fight no matter what, but i was talking about in lane 1v1. Whenever im about to transform they back off and then my chance to use the ult is gone, ive only done it a few (2-3) times where they just happened to dive me as i was at 100 fury, but that cant always happen. Since he is so immobile while in Mega-Gnar its really hard to engage because 99% they will just back off, or if they are Yasuo dash around you and stab you to death...
