riven is still a god

i just played a game as her, and mind you i RARELY play riven. like these last two games in the past day have been the only 2 games i've played as her in the last 7 months. but holy crap as long as you're smart about your q's and dashes, you seriously have to try really hard to lose. her damage is just huge, and her cc she has at level 3 is an absolute nightmare for any melee to go up against. not to mention all i do in teamfights is just wait until the squishies show, cc them into oblivion, then laugh as i r them and see them die.

one of the more fun/rewarding champions to learn/play imo.

You have to be careful about calling Riven too strong. This board has a large number of Riven mains who like to pretend that Riven is a hard champ and not way overpowered. They come down hard on people who point out how easy Riven is to play, how safe Riven is in lane, and how much damage she can do without mana and that an AD ratio shield is complete BS.

Riven mains start a jihad every time someone points this out. If she was a new champ those people might admit it, but they have become addicted to her freloo ways.

I do not play riven but honestly she's not that scary.

Anyone with half a brain should be able to watch their positioning vs her, abuse cooldowns and win as a result.

Riven who doesn't get fed early game really has to work for a win mid/late game (flash engages from behind to get onto squishies). Obviously that's different in lower elo where you can abuse anyone with high damage to just rack up crazy free wins but in higher ratings she's pretty mediocre compared to other picks.

Riven doesn't really need to get fed early, being how she has 200%+ ad scaling on all her moves with low cd and no mana/energy cost. Put it this way, if ya took the scaling from Katarina's ult, tossed them on QWER for katarina, you would have riven :p

Riven is still good, she's always been good. The changes to Riven were to separate the bad Riven' from the good ones. As you pointed out, if you're smart about Q and dashes, you're all set. There aren't many champs that can really dominate a good Riven in lane, she's a strong pick.

True, they often say people like "nasus, garen, or teemo" can kill riven, yet Im not sure you can often fight something face to face who can mash keyboard for the constant stuns, shielding, and dashes that Riven can pull off, let alone she gets bonus damage ontop of her scaling with her passive.

Shes a very strong pick, all ya gotta do is time skills right and its like a cake walk to victory

It's possible to beat her with them, though don't expect an easy time. Riven has the bigger all in potential compared to most other top lane champs. Without an even bigger all in potential, she will win every trade. There are three, maybe four that could out trade her if you play right. Darius Olaf Renekton Pantheon But again, this is a big skill match up.

it may be a skill matchup with them but its to the point where riven relies heavily on constant stun, popup, shield along with the super heavy scaling the ones you listed do not have... Comparing to if they both built ad or whatever comp you choose, riven gains more benefit than every single one of them in AD as its all she needs

Because she doesn't have much other than that. Her only CC is short lived, she has no innate tankiness other than her shield and she has to hit almost all of her skills to really do damage. Not to mention properly comboing her Q with basic attacks. Meanwhile the four listed are able to go short trades or simply poke her out of lane. I'm not saying she isn't strong, she is, she's scary strong in the right hands, but so is Darius, Olaf, Renekton or Pantheon.

Heck, Rene is one of my mains, I'd rather face Riven than Darius any day of the week.
