corki's ult

Okay I don't play corki, don't own the champ, but I played him 3 times now in arams. Now before I begin, I am in no way saying corki sucks overall as a champ. I don't play him enough or at a high level to judge. That being said, I feel like corki's ult sucks ass. I have legit reason for this whether I am unskilled or not. The fact that corki's ult has several charges makes each shot do no damage. The scaling is pretty garbage and since it's magic damage, you can only make it hit harder with magic pen since the scaling is so bad. Then what makes his ult worse is that not only is it a skillshot similar to ezreal's q where it will only hit the first enemy it comes in contact with, but it's even worse than ezreal's q because the cooldown is slightly longer for the fact that you have to wait for charges, and the biggest problem with corki's ult is the hitbox. It's so small, it feels smaller than ezreal's q. At least with ezreal's q, you can still hit people with the sides of his q, but corki's ult if you don't aim straight at the person it will just miss. If you are slightly to the side it will whiff. If you take into account that most people aren't going to just stand still and let you hit them, it makes it even harder to land on a moving target as well as one hiding behind minions. But to top it all off, even if you land your ult it does no damage. It would almost be like making graves ult do only 10 percent of the normal damage but letting graves cast it 10 times. If they made graves ult work like that, it would only be worse because you'd have to land your ult 10 times to deal as much damage as you normally would with just 1 ult and it opens more chances to dodge his ult. One extra thing about corki which is not a big deal to me, but his package is kind of stupid because does riot want corki to dive in as a squishy? Or does riot want you to go tank ap corki and dive with package every once in a while since package only comes every so often?

TLDR: That's how it feels with corki's ult. It's like they chopped down the damage so you have to cast it multiple times to make good use of it, but also the hitbox is crap along with the fact that it only hits the first unit it comes in contact with so dodging it is very easy, and even when you get passed all of that the damage is crap and has zero cc or utility to it.

Corki is one of the best midlaners right now, his ult sinergyzes with sheen passive very well and when he is ahead it also does great poke damage.

Oh well I haven't kept up with the meta since season 5. But wow I guess you are right that corki's ult does synergize with sheen with how low the cooldown would be from his ult once you store up enough of it. Although, wouldn't ezreal's q be a better sheen synergyzer than corki's ult? But I guess that's unfair to say since corki's kit does not revolve simply from his ult as I can see he has a lot more wave clear compared to ezreal.

To me his ult just feels underwhelming. Shouldnt the ultimate be the flashiest sbility in the champions kit? It just feels exactly like an ezreal Q with a 3rd hit bonus.

Yeah that's how it feels to me as well. And also, I forgot but ezreal's q actually is a lot better because not only can he get it at level 1 as opposed to corki having to wait till level 6 and having to wait for charges, ezreal's q applies on hit effects, scales with both ap and ad, and deals physical damage so it benefits from cleaver, lethality, armor pen. With on hit effects, he can get even more damage with sheen items and can proc bonus damages from duskblade, ludens, deadman's plate, shiv etc. I feel like the only thing corki's ult does better than ezreal's q is a longer range but I think ezreal's q is much better since it has a bigger hitbox, scales with a lot of items, has higher ap and ad scaling, and thus deals higher damage.

His ult was always like, when he was broken and when he was useless as fuck. Which is why I never really played him. His ult doesn't feel like an ult.

yea his ult does not seem like an ult and seems pretty weak imo. I'd rather his ult you can only use up to 3 times or use it only 1 time and then it goes on cooldown, but the damage be as much as landing all those 7 or 8 smaller shots into one and maybe a bigger hitbox. Now that would be a better ult imo.

Every 3rd shot is significantly better in damage and AoE size (something you failed to mention when compared to ezreal q is that corki r is AoE). Magic damage sheen procs are incredibly strong and the package is an amazing roaming/flanking ability.

That is true that every 3rd shot is a lot better, but that means you have to waste 2 random shots before you can get an actual good one. But even then, the 3rd shot is not all that impressive. Yes it has a bit more damage and is aoe, but ezreal's q hit box and damage on every single q is a lot better especially because it's every q with the fact that ezreal's q scales higher than corki's ult on both ad, ap, and procs on hit effects then ezreal's q is much better and outweights corki's 3rd ult rocket. Corki's ult just seems underwhelming for the fact that it doesnt deal that much damage and requires such high precision of a skillshot. Why try aiming corki's ult several times when you can just play blitz, land 1 q and if you land it, it's much more powerful because it has higher base spell damage, higher ap scaling, and pulls someone ccing them and bringing them to the team to get collapsed on. And it's not even an ult. Why use corki's ult when you can just play annie and press r with a fat tibbers than can aoe stun along with bigger burst damage than corki's ult? Corki's ult just seems like ass. If they made his ult into his basic spells, it needs a larger hitbox or higher damage because it lacks both.

Which is compensated for by the fact that Corki has longer range and a lower, per shot, cool down if Ezreal doesn't hit his q to maintain a low cool down. This translates into a lower risk ability.

Yes it has a bit more damage and is aoe, but ezreal's q hit box and damage on every single q is a lot better

The hitbox is roughly the same and I would argue ezreal's q is worse in several ways. It is a longer cool down when missing as mentioned, it is physical damage vs magic (magic has less natural resistances and items, making it a preferred damage type for a carry type character), and the potential damage through AoE is much higher.

the fact that ezreal's q scales higher than corki's ult on both ad, ap, and procs on hit effects then ezreal's q is much better and outweights corki's 3rd ult rocket.

This is incorrect. While the on hit effects might add up to more raw damage, Corki "big one" does have both higher base damage and scaling than Ezreal q late game. Regular Corki r's have higher base damage and are, again, magic damage. This does make a pretty big difference in damage output (look back at runeglaive Ezreal, it made his q magic damage and was immensely broken) and, also again, consistently lower cool down is a big plus for Corki.

Corki's ult just seems underwhelming

Which is intentional, due to his absolutely ridiculously strong passive. Still very strong, but nothing big and flashy.

Comparing abilities in a vacuum is hardly an argument. If you can't honestly come up with a reason Corki has his own strengths when compared to those champions, you are arguing in bad faith or don't understand the game. There is a reason Corki frequently shows up in pro play and in challenger solo queue.

If they made his ult into his basic spells, it needs a larger hitbox or higher damage because it lacks both.

Thinking about this in context now, you are coming at this from the perspective of aram. How the fuck did you have issues with his hitbox on aram?

What are you talking about? Ezreal's q at max rank which he can get around level 8 is 4.5 seconds. If you have 40 percent cdr, it drops to 2.7 which cdr is really easy to get. Even if he misses, it's at a 2.7 cooldown which is a lot shorter than waiting for corki's ult to recharge. Then when you do land your q, the cooldown is even shorter dropping to 1.2 seconds. Take into account that ezreal's q has a bigger hitbox than corki's ult, can use it at level 1, scales better with items, procs on hit effects as well as sheen, it seems way more powerful imo when we are specifically talking about ezreal's q vs corki's ult.

You say that I'm incorrect about ezreal's ult scaling better than corki's ult ad/ap wise? Hah what a joke. Ezreal's q has a 110% ad ratio + 30% ap. corki's ult only scales with 75% ad ratio only at max rank meaning you have to be level 16 and only 20 percent ap ratio. How was i incorrect when clearly the numbers show ezreal has higher ad/ap scaling at all ranks of his q. Only at maxed rank does corki's third ult deal 100 percent increased damage and the explosion radius ONLY increases if you actually land it on something. I've played ezreal a lot and I know you can hit minions and champions with the side of your q. You don't have to have the q directly right on the target. Corki's it's a lot thinner where if you try to hit them with the side, it will whif. There is no actual stats to see the hitbox size, but if there were I bet you would be wrong too as your first claim of corki's ult having higher ap and ad scaling than ezreal's q was wrong yet you called me wrong for that.

Then if you take into account all the items ezreal can add to ezreal q that corki can't to his r, ezreal's q does indeed do more damage than corki's r even if it's corki's third r. Statikk shiv alone with ezreal's q does more damage than corki's third r because statikk shiv at level 1 already does 60 bonus magic damage on hit, keep in mind corki's ult at rank 1 deals 90 magic damage. But you have to also include ezreal's q damage with shiv, so 15 plus 60 goes to 75 which is close to corki's 90. Yes corki's third ult does 100 percent extra damage, but don't forget shiv can crit. That's only 1 item and ezreal's damage is almost the same as corki's. Then if you take into account that ezreal can also proc trinity on his q which is 200 percent bonus physical damage, or lich bane for magic damage which basically turns his q into magic damage rather than physical, shiv and another sheen item alone can out damage corki's r. The only item corki's r can do bonus damage from is ludens. I get that corki's r is meant for sheen procs but specifically talking corki's r and ezreal's q damage wise, ezreal still has more items up his sleeve to out damage corki's r. You got duskblade which will deal 30 but up to 150 bonus damage at level 18 and that's not even taking into account lethality raising his physical damage even further. Ezreal's q at level 1 will deal 15 damage. Adding duskblade will give it bonus 30 so now his q will hit for 45 damage when proc duskblade at level 1, but add shiv damage so extra 60 meaning his q at level 1 will deal potentially 105 damage. That alone is more damage than corki's rank 1 ult of 90 damage, and yes if you talk about third ult it's about 180 damage on his third ult. But you have to also take into account that trinity will rack up ezreal's q damage further because it is 200 percent base ad bonus so since ezreal's base ad at level 1 is 60 ad, that means trinity at level 1 will give ezreal a 120 bonus ad on his q making his 105 q turn into 225 on his q if he procs shiv, duskblade with his trinity. If shiv crits, it will deal 285 damage on his q and 120 magic damage to 3 other sources at level 1.

(level 1 ezreal rank 1 q with trinity, shiv, duskblade) 225 damage > 180 damage (corki's third r at rank 1). As you can see, ezreal's q deals a lot more damage. Now a more realistic statistic would look like this. level 18 Ezreal rank 5 q = 115 damage+205(trinity at level 18 base ad x 2)+150(from duskblade)+140(magic damage from shiv which can crit)+126(110 ad ratio bonus damage from his q) =736 damage. Keep in mind I am factoring only base ad and not even the bonus ad from items, and ezreal can also proc more on hit items but just using 3 as example of his q dealing more damage. Now corki's ult at level 18 will do 140+83(75 percent of his base ad at level 18) =223 damage. If you want to count his third ult, it will deal 446 damage.

Now if you look at the two together, ezreals q does 736 if he procs all 3 items as opposed to corki's third ult only doing 446 damage. It's definitely clear that ezreal's q can do potentially a lot more damage than corki's and that's not an argument. If you want to argue about corki's dps overall that is not part of the topic, it's about corki's r and how shitty it is, not his kit all together. As you can see, it shouldn't even have to be explained that ezreal's q hits a lot harder than corki's r as can be seen in game, but since you want proof i did the research and looked at the numbers. If you want to factor the bonus ads and ap, like I said, ezreal's ad and ap scaling on his q os higher than corkis r as ezreal's q scales with 110% ad and 30% ap while corki's r scales with 75% ad and 20% ap so it's clear ezreal's q has a higher ad/ap scaling than corki's r and also procs on hit effects to increase the damage even further making corki's r damage by itself feel lackluster. If you want to factor about how corki deals magic damage instead of physical and magic being better because armor increases per level while magic resist does not, that is not a good enough argument because of the fact that any tank can just buy 2 null magic mantle's gaining bonus 50 magic resist for only 900 gold and negating almost 50 percent of corki's magic damage. The magic damage makes no difference in an ezreal corki situation if corki took 1 hit of ezreal q while ezreal took 1 hit of corki ult. Both their resistances would be too low so regardless, ezreal's q will still hurt corki despite being physical. If you want to say corki can get a chain vest, ezreal can also get a negatron cloak so corki's r being magic damage and being superior is not a strong statement. at 100 armor or 100 magic resist, physical and magical damage is reduced to 50 percent, additional armor and magic resist after that has increasing diminishing return. So the argument for corki's r being magic damage being better is insufficient as you can easily negate a lot of it by buying 2 null mantles for 900 gold.

Also, a tank/bruiser will just laugh at your puny 200(or 400 on third r) max ranked corki r damage because they have somewhere in the 2000 base hp at level 18 so even without factoring in their bonus health, base resistances, and bonus resistances, you would deal about 10 or 20 percent their hp with your ult which is not that much considering you could only do so every few seconds if we are talking about corki's ult alone. This is my argument that corki's ult damage is pathetic and underwhelming. If you aren't using it for sheen proc, it's completely useless as the damage is complete trash. I can't prove the hitbox but trust me, it's a lot easier to land ezreal's q over corki's r imo yet ezreal's q for sure does a whole lot more damage.

You clearly did not read from the start that I never said corki was a bad champion. I just said specifically his ult feels underwhelming. You may think aram should be easy to land his ult, and sometimes I do land a few, but like I said in my opening. Even if you land your ult, it does shit damage and eventually people start to side step and hide behind minions making your chances of actually landing a lot harder. If they are a slight bit below or above where you blast your ult even if it's only 1/4 of a minion away, your ult will miss. As ezreal with q, you can still hit people with your q even if they are half a minion above or below ezreal's q while corki's ult would miss. But even after all that, when I do land his r, it does shit for damage.

Corki is broken atm, I feel like hes sleeper op. You mainly use his R to proc your trinity passive which inturn lets you deal metric fuck tons of damage, his third shot also deals alot of damage.

You can use the normal shots for sheen passive or to check bushes etc but yah the non 3rd hit deals little damage though I doubt its supposed to deal high damage

I’m guessing you aren’t a Corki main?

Corki is a burst and sustain damage midlaner who has incredibly hard to stop mixed damage. By building Trinity force, Infinity Edge, and the energized items, he gains a powerful mix of damage. Comparing Ezreal to Corki is unfair to both champs.

Ezreal is a poke ADC, reliant on cooldowns and keeping his distance. He has no wave clear, and is reliant on his team late game to push waves.

Corki is an engaged based ADC. He has higher damage than Ezreal (he builds crit) and thus is less reliant on Spells once he has blown his cooldowns. He has waveclear, and he can threaten the back line with his sheen crit autos. His Q R(3) does heavy damage to unsuspecting squishies and doesn’t require any all in. He also has CC, where Ez has none.

Corki is pretty much a jack of all trades. Great bully, but can also scale late. Pre-6 has relatively short range, and post-6 he has relatively long range. He can stop tanks and ADC’s alike. His ult is perfect for him.

Yes I am not a corki main as you can see from my opening that I only get to play him in aram because he is free at the moment with the rotations. This post was never stating that corki was weak, just talking about how I feel about his ult and I don't like the design of it. Everyone has their own opinions but personally I feel corki's r is weak as a poke when you compare it to other champions pokes in terms of damage and the hitbox of the spell considering it's a skillshot that hits only the first target it collides with and only gets a small little aoe and slight extra damage if it hits a target on every third ult. I definitely see corki's strengths because his e shreds armor and magic resist, his q has a large hitbox that can clear waves, has high base damage, and deals a lot of magic damage so overall corki will deal a lot of magic and physical damage. I am just not liking the design of his ult. I feel it's pathetic in terms of damage, lack of cc, lack of utility for how hard it is to land the spell at a high level other than being something used to proc sheen. It's given such a long range but why does it need long range when if you use it as a long range poke, it does no damage. Kind of a dumb idea in my opinion. I'd gladly prefer corki's ult to either have long range and higher damage, or shorter range but a more wider hitbox. This way, if it's mainly for sheen procs, you can just make it short range so that you just need to throw it out and then auto attack but make it easier to land by making the size of the ult fatter. And if it's meant to be a long range poke, since it's so skinny and hard to land because of several factors such as enemy hiding behind minions, enemy side stepping, enemy dashing, you having to use a skillshot, then when you actually do land the r, it should hurt. It should do a lot of damage, or slow someone, or have execute damage, or hp percentage damage or something rather than a small 200-400 damage for landing a slightly difficult skillshot. Take blitz for instance, his hook is relatively hard to land, but when you do actually land it, it's very powerful. Ezreal's q, at least it can potentially hit really hard for a long ranged poke but also serve as a sheen proc tool. Unless someone stands still and lets corki land 8 ults onto that person, corki's ult feels garbage to me and if it's not so bad viable wise, it's at least a bad design for an ult in my opinion.

He and old kog'maw are kinda the same. Their ult is kind of a 4th basic ability, it used to synergyze with both of their build (back back back in the day when kog' built trinity), it's not really an ult in terms of it's budget, but it's a good tool for spell weaving and poke, late game "the big one" also does considerable damage.

Definitely feels that way to me. lmao someone is going around this thread and down voting any comment that thinks corki's ult doesn't feel powerful as an ult. Not saying it's bad for their kit but just saying it's an underwhelming ult and someone will downvote it lol. Anyway yes I feel like corki and kog's ults are kinda like basic abilties rather than ults. Low damage, lack of cc, lack of utility. Kog's I feel is a little bit underwhelming because of how expensive the mana cost is, but at least it has it's use of being something to catch a person running away as it has long range and deals more damage based on missing health of those hit by it and doubled if they are below 40 percent. It has a function in my opinion as a long range execute to secure the kills and every ult is aoe. Even if I personally feel it too is a bit underwhelming it has it's uses. Corki's I feel like is just underwhelming and useless other than being a sheen proc.
