One reason why the gameplay isn't satisfying anymore

Back when I played league in the earlier seasons, there was a lot of carry potential and people carrying teams. It really promoted the idea for players to play well because if you are really good while 9 others are goof balls, you can hard carry and win. It was the reward for playing well and having great outplay mechanics.

This idea always made the game worth playing even knowing that you will lose sometimes because with every loss, you can learn something from that and improve. That's how I always looked at games after losing and it would make me feel better and motivated to keep on going.

But now, it feels like it doesn't matter how good you are at the game individually. I get it, it's a team game. But it feels like doing a really great job means nothing if your team is clowning around or makes terrible choices that cost the game. It feels more like, you do better if everyone plays mediocre but decent rather than you play exceptional while the other four are bad.

This makes the game lose an important part that compelled me to play. It was the part where I could always improve on losses. It doesn't feel that way because it feels like there is nothing I can do to improve. If you have 4 teammates feeding or disconnecting or just making terrible choices left to right, it doesn't matter how much you alone imrpove. That improvement doesn't shine like it did back then with solo carry potential. Now, it just feels like you are completely helpless and there's not point in improving.

Sure, a bit of improvement here and there helps, but ultimately, you winning or losing all depends on your team and not you. Now with every loss, there is nothing really to learn. It's just if you were lucky or not on whether you win or lose. At least, that's how it feels for me.

My issue with gameplay now is, 99% of the time I don’t feel like I’m being outplayed. It just feels like I’m being out championed.

Oh cool this guy Picked lee sin into my Kayn. Guess I don’t get to play this game. Oh someone picked akali into my gangplank. Welp there is nothing I can do to win this game. Hope my team can manage it.

The carry potential is still there but it requires much more to execute. You need better macro knowledge as well mechanical knowledge on a snowbally champion with high damage, tankiness, and utility. Basically you need to be: Aatrox Camille Ekko Fiora Irelia Jax Katarina Kaisa Khazix Qiyana Riven Vayne Yasuo

These are your turret shredding, damage having, tank having, split pushing, teamfighting god champions.

Boards early 2019: "Snowball is too heavy!! Nerf that!"

Boards late 2019: "I want to snowball and solo carry 1v9! Why isn't that possible anymore!?"

So, if 1 out of 5 people on your team are decent, then that means that previous seasons also sometimes rewarded people for playing like shit.

Btw, you aren't always going to be the one carry games. Let's not act like you haven't been carried yourself.

You’re not alone.

They need to add reverse linear scaling gold income from neutrals. This will bring back the ability to solo carry

I think it's good that you can snowball/carry a bit atm, but not 1vs9 one-man-army every game like in earlier seasons. You need to see it from everyones perspective. Imagine you are in enemy team. You do a great job same as 3 others in your team. But only your top suck and fed the enemy Irelia and now she goes crazy and deletes everyone of you 1v9 solo carry although you and 3 others in your team won your lane.

Is it that what you want?

I don't want that.

NOwadays communication is more important. If you think you are better you need to make the calls in the chat and with pings. But not in a cocky way, otherwise the flame starts. Normally it's the Jungler who has best understanding of macro and should make calls like "bot swap mid/top" after they killed enemy T1 turret. Or ping them where enemy jungle is, Baron/Dragon calls, when to split push or when to group etc.

Solo carrying if the other 4 aren't really contributing is nearly impossible Last season and this season, but if you have 1 other teammate playing well and you are playing well you can 2man carry. That said the 2 fed players definitely have to out-perform and the 3 others have to be carryable (aka not go full ape and just run it down).

There is a huge problem here.

Like you see, when everyone looks back with their rosy glasses and are like "yeah you could solocarry by playing well and the game now is trash because you cant" they ignore this tiny issue that they´d have playing something that was basically release Xin zhao or not far off to make it work.

That or being extremely above the enemies in skill to the point where they could never hope to keep up.

If the game is to be even remotely fair then matchmaking has to prevent such extreme discrepancies in skill, and the balance team has to hammer down on such OP champs.

Its not possible anymore? Job well done in that regard at least, now if they would at least get to fixing bugs and polishing up important stuff like hitbox clarity i´d consider it really good overall.
