Champion balance and elos

I am making this post to provide general information that people should consider while contemplating whether a champ is "OP" or not.

As we all know certain champs get picked in LCS and other champs don't. this doesn't nesscary mean a champ picked in LCS is necessarily OP, in fact many of the most broken champ don't get picked in LCS.

im goign to discuss what makes certain champs good at certain elos

im goign to base this around 2 champion champion that many people consider to be OP in their perspective elos. one in bronze and one in high level play

lets start off with bronze we have MasterYi , so why is yi good in bronze. lets start off with the most obvious reason that everyone already accepts. master yi has a low skill cap. Yi also scales very well a full build master yi is much stronger than most other full build champs and is a very good late game champ not only that in order to beat a master yi that is say bronze 3 you probably need to have bronze 1 mechanics.

another important fact is that master yi is a champ you can pretty much pick into any team composition or enemy team composition. master yi is VERY efficient with items and snowballs very hard. a full build master yi is stronger than most other full build champs. another important factor is yi doesn't really NEED his team after he gets fed. as long as yi has a kill advantage he can 1v2 or even 1v5 depending how fed he is.

master yi likes to be around players who can get him fed easily, he doesn't need a team to help him once he does get fed, and once people start getting teamwork they can properly shut him down

that is why yi is strong in bronze. but for the same reason master yi is weaker at competitive play.

master yi is a champ that needs to get kills to snowball, if he DOESN'T then he wont be much use. (im going to ignore theitem 3931 item 3124 issue for the moment)

once players reaches a skill level where they can communicate and not feed master yi no longer becomes an issue. hence the statement "dont feed the yi"

now lets talk about champ that are very good in high elo next we haveNidalee

nidalee is a champion with a very HIGH skill cap nidalee does NOT need to get fed in order to do damage. early game and mid game she can dish out a lot of damage with minimal items.

but unlike a champion such as yi.. nidalee does require teamwork, first off because of the vast amount of commonly picked nid counters, you can just "lock in nid" into any team. second nid donest get much stronger when getting kills and extra gold.. but gets a LOT weaker when the enemy does.

nidalee has next to zero ability to shut down a fed champion by herself.. and is heavily reliant on her team not to feed.

a nid needs a team that can peel for her. allow her to jump in and get out to do continuous damage. without a decent team nid is next to impossible to teamfight woth

she also has HORRIBLE late game scaling. almost any champ in the game can 1v1 a nid when both champs have full build

now this is great in LCS. a very strong early game and mid game, the ability to work with minimal items and an abundance of teamwork from teammates who dont feed, and how know how to teamfight to protect her. she can be in a team that is designed to work with her, to give her peel, this is the perfect situation for nid to be in; it plays to all of her strengths and counters most of her weaknesses.

if your bronze player and you see an enemy nid, you dont really care, even if she gets 10 kills, as long as you get fed you can shut her down easy as pi. if high level skill you see a yi and you dont really care.. you can your team can eaily prvent him from getting fed and becoming an issue

if you a bronze player and you see a yi.. you start to get really scared. sure you can get fed yourself, but if yi gets fed, chances are you can't take him down alone. as a high level champ and you see a nid.. you got some trouble. chances are she knows how to land that spear and how to gank properly.. she has very good mobility and as long as her team is there to support her she is going to be a real pain early to mid game as long as she can land that spear she is going to win most trades. your not going to feed her but that doesn't matter, until you start to reach late game she is going to be a real pain the the @$$

so is either champ op? if your in bronze your nto goign to waste a ban on nid.. she is worthless even if she gets fed. but yi.. damn he is OP, he's ganna 1v5 you. if your in challenger.. you dont give a shit about yi, you can prevent him from being an issue.. but nid.. damn that stupid kitty and those damn spear as SO FREAKING ANNOYING.

she needs kill gold. a lot of it.

what she needs is for the other team NOT to be fed to do damage. she doesn't need items to do damage as much as she needs her opponents NOT to have items.

it dones't matter as much how far you are AHEAD as nid.. it matters much more on how much gold THEY have.

its doesn't matter if you have 28k gold. if they have 16k gold your still going to lose.
