Champions who have interesting potentials

I feel like some champions have a really cool label, or vibe to them but the potential just isn't reached. An example would be Sona. A bard like character (and no I don't mean the champion I mean a music based support type character). A real bard would be playing songs buffing allies and weakening foes, yet all Sona brings to the table are small aoe buffs, q poke, and some clutch ults. I've always thinked Sona has so much potential to be an amazing champion, but when I have brought this up before, a Rioter stated that she is a staple support and changing her would be a bad idea. But wasn't Taric a staple support at one point? Now look whats happening to him.

Another example would be LeBlanc. Everyone probably most hated illusionist. But is she really an illusionist? The main thing in her kit that has illusions in it would be her passive and maybe you could say her dashes/blinks but it's a stretch. With an ult that's basically a ctrl v ctrl c with more damage, I feel like if she were to be made today her kit would consist of more trickery. For example, her ult could be like the one item in black market brawlers that disguised one champion to look like another, and could lead to some amazing outplay moments.

Now it wouldn't be fair if I didn't mention some champions who have amazing in game fantasies that really make them feel like who they are. Some examples of this to me would be Ahri, Vel Koz, Ekko, Katarina, Nami, etc. These champions really feel like what they are labeled. Ahri with a charm and swift mobility feels like a succubus ready to strike at any moment. Vel koz feels like a, well, mastermind from the void. Ekko really has the whole timewinder thing tied in with his ult. Katarina feels like a sadistic assassin who just wants to kill kill kill. Nami feels like a real sincere tidecaller.

Tldr: Some champions really feel like who they're meant to be, while some could definitely use some in game fantasy improvement. Ps: Please don't hate me, but yes this was built off of that one thread about LeBlanc not feeling like a real "deceiver" like yah she dashes at u, so what? I just really wanted to expand on it, since I'm sure some people would agree.

I feel like you've never really played against a really good leblanc. Not one who can kill people, that's a decent leblanc. I'm talking like a leblanc who utilizes her jumps and passive to the fullest. Jumps around from weird angles, can't chase them because if you do they go some weird way, passive activates and you literally have no idea which is which. She may not have a big ol' "look at me, I'm being deceptive" button but played properly she's amazingly tricky. I have a friend who plays her and he's repeatedly and consistently gotten an entire team to chase him through the jungle for minutes at a time utilizing his double jumps and his passive.

I think it's important to realize that champion fantasies aren't as cut and dry as "this person is sneaky so they have to have stealth." You can be deceptive without stealth and you can have stealth without being deceptive.

on point.

I find it kind of funny that you mentioned Vel'Koz as being one of the Champions who fulfills their fantasy, seeing as how he's getting a minor rework specifically because he doesn't fulfill his fantasy.

That's what riot says though. The community thinks he'f perfectly fine, and have even asked Riot to not touch him.

The forums aren't the entire community, we make up less than a third of it. And Riot's right on this. Vel'Koz is supposed to dissect things with lasers in order to learn from them and what that translated into in-game was "I melt people's faces with lasers, and have a very small reference to learning in the flavor text of my passive". Vel'Koz is very unique as far as Voidspawn go, they're all supposed to be personifications of hunger, and Riot tried to go in a different direction to fulfill that expectation with him by making his hunger an intellectual kind rather than a physical kind, and yet his hunger for knowledge isn't portrayed at all (If you never read his lore you'd likely never piece it together that he uses lasers as a way to collect information).

The thing about Sona is, she used to be closer to what you're describing. It was when they gutted her in 4.13 that this identity was lost. She used to passively play music in the background while allies were nearby, but this was removed during her Visual Downgrade. She used to passively grant stats and debuff enemies. She still does the latter in theory, but her nerfed cooldowns having realistically removed this from her kit for the most part.
