Playing ADC was never fun.

No matter how fed you were and how in rape mode you were, the amount of champions that could just instagib you despite them feeding for 25 minutes straight is sickening.

I've always loved ADCs, and it always pissed me off that non ADC players would complain about their strength without realizing that, with the exception of coordinated teams, instakilling an ADC was RIDICULOUSLY easy. The whole "ADC IN 2K17 OMEGALUL" meme revolved around clips of ADCs getting instantly killed under tower and the like. Even a slight misstep in positioning got you CCd and killed, but because they do a lot of damage, suddenly they're overpowered and need to be nerfed.

We complained about them being too strong because of 2 things: A. Not every midlaner/jungler wants to pick an assasin just so they can kill the ADC B. The splitpush and objective-taking were too good for ADC C. Too much damage coming just from autos. You can't dodge autos and ADCs were burst per second instead of DPS like they are supposed to be.

You've never needed an assasin to destroy ADCs. Actually even certain supports can do it with not much of a problem, IE Zyra. Not talking about pure mages in the midlane. Annie can shut down an ADCs entire life during the whole game.

I'll go one by one with these;

A. You don't have to pick an assassin to kill the ADC. Your name is RyzeTheSmurfMage, so I'm assuming you play Ryze. That champ in particular was awesome for killing ADCs, as spreading his E then bouncing his Q did a huge chunk of damage. Aside from Ryze, plsnty of mages and fighter junglers can kill ADCs as long as they can gap close. B. ADCs can't split push. Split pushing implies being in a side lane by yourself attacking towers. An ADC would die as soon as a couple people show up, as most ADCs have no escape mechanic and can't outrun fighters or tanks or whoever is responding to the split push. Next, objective taking speed is one of the reasons you choose ADCs. It's one of their strengths. You're basically saying "oh this class is good at this thing! Needs nerf!" which is silly. That's like getting mad at Fiora because she's "too good at split pushing." It's one of her core strengths. C. This one I'll agree on. They did do too much damage for minimal effort. However, if you just let them free hit in fights, that's your own fault. Engage champs force ADCs to reposition, and if you can't get to the back line and force them to reposition to cut off their damage, that's on you and your team, not ADCs as a whole. They did need a damage nerf, but a lot of their damage was from teams allowing the enemy ADC to free hit instead of pressuring them to kite or leave the fight temporarily.

I love how you are trying to force into thinking marksman not adcs are alone. You try jumping on a marksman when they have 1 or more tanks because it’s not easy at all you literally get cc’ed to death. While the marksman would auto you for 1k.

Atmosphere3 votes

I'm basing it on 1v1 fair play. Of course if you try to 2v1 or 3v1 an ADC and their tank/support, OF COURSE you're going to lose that fight. If you factor in other teammates, there's too much variation to ever say what's good and what's not.

God I literally hate this justification so much. Classes that had similar mobility levels or more than mages, easiest and highest sustained damage, and cheap items and gold funneled and you all act like they weren't strong

Lol people constantly jerk mages off like they aren't strong. Half of them can kill an adc from out of auto range with like 2 abilities and they do massive aoe damage. Mages aren't hard at all to play unless you have parkinsons and cant hit skillshots.

lmao at least you have skillshots instead of right click highest damage in the game. Thank god there are finally some games at least where adcs aren't in the match or they aren't automatically the most dominant force.

Theres a reason in pro games its always adc circle jerk fest and they outdamage some ryze on their team 10 times over.

People complain that they can die in 3 seconds for an adc, but this is true for any adc throughout all the game. People complain that they can die in 3 seconds for an adc and so they should be nerfed and guted and deleted, but that only can happen at 25 or more minutes of game when an ADC is full build. It will be in a team fight environment and even then teams usualy have ways to sefely 100-0 any adc, they only buy minor forms of resistence.

Sure there is peel but every team had a goalkeeper (support), defense(team peel) and striker (adc)... it was fair play.

Riot should had tuned bot lane influence in the game without cripple class viability, but they failed on that, like they failed with Jungler like they are failing with the game.

LOL 3 seconds? ROFLMAO!!

sure maybe it would take you 3 seconds to kill a full tank Rammus or aMalphite as adc in season 7/8. or a 10k hp Chogath .

belive me.. if it actually took 3 seconds for the adc to kill us... you would have seen ZERO complaints...

Are we comparing 1 ADC auto attack with an Veigar Ult?

How many seconds do you want to survive vs a full build character that ONLY buys damage? They were made to do damage. no?

The counter play was delete them before they had the chance to deal damage. It still is.

Late game damage on ADC is stronger now. If they can manage in the early game they still can kill in 3 or 2 or 1 seconds (you choose).

... there is a different between champsions who is designed to be a burst mage one shotting you very quickly. anda class which is desinged to do sustained damage in a fight after all cooldowns have been blown.. bursting you just as fast.

and before u say "veigar R" isnt a skillshot. of course its not.. veigar is a_ late game scaling burst mage_.

if u let the game go to 50 min vs him.. he is GOING to 1 shot you. that is what he is DESIGNED to be.

adc are not SUPPOSED to burst people. when they do so.. then its a problem...

rtbf2234347211 votes

Veigar can buy tank itens and still insta kill. Veigar dont need to be full build to insta kill. Veigar dont need to play 30 minutes of the game to start one shotting players. This does not apply only to Veigar, it applies to many champions with burst.

ADC need to be full damage, need to be full build and need 30 minutes of game to reach the point he can "insta kill with burst" like u say he does.

The only time one adc becomes able "to burst" just as fast as a burst mage or assassin is in the late game after 30 minutes of game when he is full build.

Unlike burst champions, adcs are always more vulnerable at all times of the game.

By the time one adc reaches full build at 30 minutes of the game everybody is full build, ADC build is the most expensive.

Its not burst its all the damage itens combined. It is not burst, he still need to auto 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 times, but the AS is so much ppl think is burst...

This problem of the late game insane power of ADC's was not solved, they can do the same thing they always did in the late game. Even better now, that riot is buffing their late game.

Yes and what about mid laners and multitudes of other champions whos main role was also damage and could never even come close to ADC?

Conveniently ignore that I suppose. Have one tiny type of champ become the required and forced constant damage carry role in EVERY single game all the time. Such fun and varied gameplay. Glad riot is at least moving away from the stale "meta" this crap game has had for years and years.

FIGHTERS LOVE TO DUEL A balance of power and defense, Fighters are born to brawl, preferring their bouts up close and personal.

TANKS CAN TAKE IT Resilient bruisers, Tanks excel at shrugging off blows that would obliterate lesser allies.

ASSASSINS CRAVE THE HUNT Masters of precision, Assassins are agile hunters on the lookout for the perfect kill.

SUPPORTS HAVE YOUR BACK Stalwart defenders, Supports control the battlefield by augmenting allies and locking down enemies.

You think that everyone that deals damage have to make the same amout of damage? You believe that all roles that were made to deal damage should do de same damage of an adc? You think that all roles work the same way?

The game is made to provide you with champions with diferente roles, and inside those roles you can chose champions with diferent play styles. But you need to play inside the role, with the role strengths and weaknesses.

In a game normally everyone have a purpose, and in league you can choose many ways to fulfil the purpose you want to fulfil. Some are better than others.

In football terms: You can't have a "Left wing" or "Right wing" doing the same thing a "Centre forward/ Striker" does.

rtbf2234347211 votes

Easy?

Its easy to reach the highest sustained damage? Its not easy and you need to work hard to reach there.

Adc is the most weak role of the game in terms of survivability, generally the most dangerous late game adcs (crit users) dont even have the ability to duel properly or self peel, they cant be on 1vs1 situations in early game and suceed. In the early game they don't have any relevant damage and the build available to them is the most expensive.

You only reach the highest sustained damage playing adc after u play 30 minutes of the game. You are babysited in the early game because everyone can abuse you. You have to rely on your team in mid game because one mistake and you die. You SHINE in the late game and you FINALLY you can be considered to be self sufficient... after 30 minutes. And even after 30 minutes you can be deleted by burst damage if u miss position yourself.

Be required in any game?

Riot did this. The players never wanted to make ADC an obligation to the game. Riot developed that meta and designed many adcs to work in that meta only. Now they are destroying the class they designed to work in the meta they created themself's.

Riot should create a game were every champion they create and design can have a way to play, contributing to the game in a fair environment. But its always more easy to buff and nerf champions and enforce gamestyles or metas to their players than actually solve problems.

Not just because they do a lot of damage. Everyone does and still did. Just that the game centered around ADCs, they were the only mandatory class, they were starting to get to a point where it was difficult for even assassins to kill them, and (outside of arguably skirmishers) they were just outscaling and outclassing all the other carries.

Even a slight misstep in positioning got you CCd and killed, but because they do a lot of damage, suddenly they're overpowered and need to be nerfed.

Hey this applies to mages too, but they have less dps, worse siege, are more risky, and have worse itemization. They only beat ADCs in terms of burst (not rly with crit), cc and waveclear. They're far worse carries.

Don't get me started on Juggernauts. Almost the entirety of that class is always obsolete.

Outclassing? They always had their weakness and their strength. They always were 0% defence and 100% offence. They always had a horrible early game and exceptional late game... that's how they were designed to work. Now they have nearly no early game presence and they have an even better late game... I always gave my ADC a lil defensive boost if the game was going long.

item 3022 or item 3025 for self-peel.

item 3078 or item 3071 for kiting/chase down.

item 3026 for enemy Execute abilities.

It's all about the Situational item once you get fed like that. It's only a matter of time before you'll get ganged up on when you think you're ok.

HàrrowR4 votes

Some people already mentioned this, and i wrote a post about it recently, there's no rule that says you need to buy only full on offensive items, look at the LCS,even with a professional team,a dedicated support that is again a professional gamer that will follow you around and peel for you with the rest of the team, what do ADCs on those teams buy as their first and fourth item? item 3047 item 3026

Trust me,i always hated being one shotted or not being able to 1v1,although some ADCs are good at 1v1 and some aren't Vayne /Jinx , all ADCs can be built to not be squishy..

Like i always say i'd give up 25% of my damage for 25% more surviveability, but the catch is when you build items like item 3047 item 3026 item 3072 as opposed to a full damage build, and i tested it,you lose around 15% of your DPS while being basically 40% - 50% harder to kill, when you factor in only resistances and shields, not even counting GA revive into that.

Its basically a matter of preference, some times you'll maybe need that extra 15% dps to take someone down faster,or kill a tower/baron,but i realized that most of the time it pays off more to survive and keep doing damage than to die while being able to potentially do more damage. I mean since i started doing this build i had people chase me through my whole team trying to kill me,leaving me on 200 hp and then losing the game when i heal back up.

Just try one game with Vayne with this build item 3047 item 3095 item 3046 item 3026 item 3031 item 3072 you basically have only 2 items that don't help your surviveability,i guarantee you you can 1v1 anything with this build and the difference is you won't kill someone in 4 seconds but in 5,but you won't get insta deleted so you can actually do the damage.

Just remember, these are your friends item 3047 item 3111 item 3139 item 3026 item 3156 item 3072 item 3046 item 3071 item 3091 ,you can fit at least 3-4 of them on any adc

Im sure the problem of ADC right now is not the lack of defensive options. ADCs are struggling because riot nerfed their resistances and increased the gold of their itens. They can't retaliate properly before they buy their core items.

If you cant hold your ground as an adc in lane to farm and buy your core itens you can be pushed so behind that the game will end before you can catch up and be relevant to your team.

You need to play lets say 10 or 15 minutes to have gold to buy the core items, one tower can be destroyed in 7 minutes. If you get pushed out of lane too many times in early game... you will have a hard time playing with one adc champion.

CapnMorganFr3man4 votes

Think about it this way; for the past four or five seasons, what other champ role has to be autoincluded in a team composition for it to be viable besides ranged marksman? What other champ role besides ranged marksman has to be played in the bot lane otherwise itd be considered trolling until recently? If I said one of your teammates was required to pick one of fifteen champions regardless of the elo you're in to actually be able to play the game; doesn't that scream unhealthy considering theres 100+ champions in the game? Maybe ranged marksman isnt the strongest role in the game; but the impact its had in the game for the longest time has been way too strong.

Nope. There are plenty of non mage champions that fill the gap just fine with their damage. Akali Diana Fizz Mordekaiser Singed Nidalee are all solid alternative forms of AP damage and none of them are considered mages.

Pika Fox1 votes

.... Singed is the only non mage you put. An AP assassin is still a mage.

CapnMorganFr3man3 votes

An AP assassin is still a mage.

So by your reasoning Kayn Zed Talon Pyke Khazix Rengar Pantheon Nocturne are all adcs because they deal physical damage? Mages are defined by Riot and the community as "ranged spellcasters," not "champions who have ap damage." Seriously, go look up which category each champion falls into before you try to argue something as stupid as 'it deals ap damage so it must be a mage.'

Pika Fox1 votes

A mage is any champion who primarily deals damage and builds AP. An ADC is any champion who builds AD and is meant to carry the game. While ADC is most commonly used as a standin for RADCs, assassins can fit the lable of an ADC, although theyre more volitile.

CapnMorganFr3man3 votes

Since you don't know how Google works I'm just gonna post this here for you.

http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/Template:Champion_classes?useskin=oasis

You can see from this that slayers/assassins, marksmen and mages are 3 distinctively different classes. You're trying to argue that the definition of the mage class is anything that deals damage and uses ability power... which is a hilariously generalized statement. But sure if the silver player wants to argue that his theoretical champion class which makes up roughly 50% of the champion pool has an impact in every game, he's right. However, the community/game developer definition of a mage has in no way made the regular appearance in every game the way marksman have until recently.

Alright since you're still not clicking the links I'm giving you here is the list of champions categorized as mages by the company, Riot Games, the creators of League of Legends and not Pika Fox, the hardstuck silver player who's been in the game for maybe two seasons. The list of all champions considered mages are Jayce Lux Varus Ziggs Xerath Velkoz Anivia AurelionSol Cassiopeia Karthus Malzahar Morgana Rumble Ryze Swain Taliyah Viktor Vladimir Ahri Annie Brand Karma Leblanc Lissandra Lux Orianna Syndra TwistedFate Veigar Zoe Zyra.

http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/Mage here's the source just in case you want to read it but I know you probably won't

Now I'm telling you, as a seasoned player who actually plays this game regularly since its creation and has a pretty deep understanding of how game compositions work for it, you have almost never been by any means obligated to have a champion from this list somewhere on your team (even as long as this list might be) since there were other champions who could provide reliable AP damage on your team. The marksman class, however, despite containing only 17 champions, was always autoincluded in every team composition because of how ridiculously good/reliable their damage output has been until recently.

Not doing yourself any favors, as ive never player more than like 20 games of ranked, and ive played since pre season 1. So again, mages are AP based spellcasters.

If you've actually been around since beta I find it extremely disturbing that you still cant differentiate between classes. Now I've used sources to prove that you're wrong, but if you want to willingly choose ignorance and essentially argue that 'bananas are fruits, therefore all fruits are bananas,' who am I to stop you I guess? Understand that your deeply flawed definition of the Mage Class is shared with neither the game developers nor the community members at least.

If you talk about adcs on this patch, yes adcs are too weak. If you talk about adcs before the adc nerf patch, hell no. Yes there are a lot of champions that can oneshot at 25 min, but you need to be way out of position first and then not dodge a single skill of them. Yes most bad players were pretty good at accomplishing this and then crying about too much damage, but there were enough players who used these advantages.

After all staying alive somehow rewards you with damage that can match the damage output of all 4 other classes/roles combined. Potentially able to oneshot the whole team. (Hi Twitch)
