I feel mages shouldn't have the AP bonus vs structures

Every class has their strength. Mages obliterate teams. AD's provide consistent damage output. Assassins have high burst. Tanks absorb damage.

But did you notice? Mages kill turrets faster than the consistent damage output class.

doing 400 magic damage on hit every second to a turret really just shouldnt exist.

Ziggs passive/Lich bane i feel is fine, just not the passive 50% of ap is applied as magic damage.

You're a mage, not a sieger. You shouldnt be destroying turrets so fast.

Get a lategame ADC and right click a tower.

Yeah, no. Even with that AP bonus it's nowhere near as good as actually building AD, mages are still relatively slow at taking towers compared to AD counterparts. Do you just expect mages who built lichbane to push waves and just stand there taking 5 years to take a turret?

When they can rotate a kit and kill an entire team in the span of a second? Yes. Thats exactly what I expect them to do. Give them a weakness.

Requiemsfire1 votes

They do have a weakness, it's the literal fact that they rely on a rotation to deal damage appropriately which generally are gated by cool downs and skill shots.

4 second cooldowns are not significant cooldowns when it takes 4 seconds for a melee to walk to you double that if you have cc and even more if you are kiteing.

That's only Ziggs.

And its because of his passive+lichbane+W.

It has very, very little to do with the AP bonus damage to towers.

If one champion is a problem, you'd have to be really, really stupid to target nerf a factor relevant to ALL champions in a group instead of target nerfing that one specific champion.

Nah not really. Sona late game, full build can two/three-shot a tower via Lich/Powerchord/AA damage. Pretty much any mage can attain a similar output.

No, towers take 50% of your ability power as magic damage on hit, no exceptions.

What? No matter how you look at it, how does it make any sense that someone with a gun/bow/crossbow would take out a magically fortified stone turret faster than someone who has control over elements, has magical bombs, shoot obliterating lasers and so on?

ADC's are already important enough as a damage source, i'd say the opposite. Nerf ADC damage VS turrets so mages always have a place on the team.

Because they aren't casting spells on the tower to kill it, they are using a basic attack.

MAGICAL basic attacks. Still likely more potent than an arrow.

If were going to hold this game to logic, how come ashe doesnt get anivias frostbite from holding her own bow, why cant bristle run away like skaarl, why dont ziggs bombs kill him, why hasn't urgot killed himself yet, could keep going.

mages do not kill towers faster

._. unless you didn't build to take down towers of course

then again it makes more sense for the one with the magic to destroy structures than it does the gal with the bow and arrow just saying

I think the original issue was when you would be a mid AP champ vs an AD champ where the AD champ could take your tower very quickly but you as a mage/ap champ (aside from ziggs cery specific champs) did it very, very slowly in comparison, allowing your mid tower to fall fast but theirs to stay up for much longer, therefore allowing your mid to go open and put you at a disadvantage if enemy team could start sieging just from that, so to give them a chance to fight back in the tower destroying race in mid, they added that magic damage bonus on basic attacks on towers for AP champs.

that is of course if I'm recalling this correctly.

So you are telling me that a ranged champion had a disadvantage versus a melee champion in a lane comparatively so they had to sure that up but melees are still out ranged and get poked out of lane and out of farm.

AD champ could take your tower very quickly but you as a mage/ap champ did it very, very slowly in comparison, allowing your mid tower to fall fast but theirs to stay up for much longer

before the change where magic damage effected towers which was part of the reason to ever go melee ad mid compared to safe ap mage but now aps take towers just as fast or faster once they reach more ap than ad in their kit around level 7. only at full build can an adc really match it and thats 12 hits on a tower compared to 5 hits from a mage in the same amount of time and more for the adc if you have to dodge in and out of tower range while the time for the mage remains the same because their damage is front loaded while adc damage is consistant. dont even go to fighters who are supposed to be better at taking towers too and assassins who both straight up get beat.
