I like how Lux is suddenly the weakest thing in the game.
Despite, you know, historically being a solid and consistent pick. Definitely doesn't have anything to do with her having an ultimate skin now or anything though, heavens no!

It's because her waveclear is garbage, her sustained dps is poor and she's not particularly good at roaming. Until at least one of those problems is solved then she will remain inferior to other mages who can do one of those things (or all) well. It's hard to justify picking her over champs who just have so much more to offer when all she has is her long-range. If this were a poke meta she might be good, but it's not. It's a tank meta and she's pretty awful against tanks.
So, by that logic, we should buff Zoe too. But she's "broken" right?
Thing is, Lux isn't meant to have high DPS -- she's a burst mage. And to say her waveclear is bad is a fucking lie and you know it.
And no, it's a "who does more damage" meta.

The difference is that Zoe could do Lux's damage on a 5-6 second CD. Lux relies on her ult to do it. But Zoe got gutted (and rightfully so) so I fail to see your point.
Lux's ult now has a 10s CD, so there goes your argument.
And Zoe is one of the most telegraphed, easily beaten champs in the game. If you wanna talk rightfully gutting something, let's look at every ADC in the game, Fizz, Diana, Akali, Trynd, Win Nhao, and so many others that just statcheck you to death or click on you and delete you.

A 10s CD if you have maxed out CDR, IF you get a kill, if you're level 16? That's a lot of ifs. Zoe just required the old 20% cdr morellos. No "ifs".

Pros disagreed, that's why she was firstpick / ban. Important to distinguish between pre-nerf and post-nerf Zoe, though. You keep using present tense but we both know that she's garbage now.
A kill? No you just have to damage them with it before they die now.
And I'm talking pre-nerf. Zoe was never broken, but the fucking assholes in LC$ didn't want to admit they couldn't beat a champ without some practice, so they called it broken and Riot pandered to them since that's where most of their money comes from.

Damage them with it within 1.75 seconds, important distinctions.
Zoe was definitely broken. I mean there were countless instances of her zoning entire teams or her oneshotting people with her absurd burst (which she could then repeat 5-6 seconds later). It takes a lot of hubris to claim the pros just "didn't know how to play". These are people that practice the game for 10 hours a day because it's how they make a living.
They weren't just "calling it broken" they were actively picking and banning her.
'cause that's sooooo hard to do, right?
And no, she wasn't. People just didn't know how to play against her since she is fairly unique among champs. The pros practice against the same predictable champs every day, but Zoe was something new and totally unpredictable because of how her kit worked, and they had no fucking idea what to do. A lot of pros are horrible at microplay, they're just really, really good at macroplay. Beating Zoe requires microplay and reacting on the fly.
Why would her waveclear be good if she is one of the longest ranged mages in the game? Her having good waveclear on top of her range and the fact that she still has her shield would mean that she could effectively circumvent interacting with her lane opponent completely.
While Xerath has good waveclear and long range, he pays for it by having no form of escape or ability to prolong his death or support his team. Unlike Lux who has her shield.

Ziggs has an escape and / or knockback. Vel'koz has an AOE knockup. Xerath has a stun and an AOE slow, plus much better sustained damage. All waveclear better than Lux. Her shield isn't enough to make up for how inferior she is in every other way to these champs.

I'm glad someone understands this, usually only the people that play her. Her biggest problem is wave clear; even though she has HUGE potential for roams- she cant because her early wave clear is next to some of the worst .
I literally dropped her after maining her for 4-5 years now after finding out there's a far better version of her that has SO many less problems and does everything she does- but better (Xerath)
Q = 2.5 second cooldown Lux R (shorter range, only 250 less damage- same AP scaling) W = More AoE damage with a good slow, equally spammable as lux's E E = An amazing stun with great hit box, spammable R = More AoE, long range kill cleaning, short cooldown, more damage if even 2 hit than lux's 1 R
Mana isn't a problem either.
Lux's problems E= High mana cost, 10 second CD, Charging it does 0 good, and the nice "slow" it has is useless because most the time your goal is to detonate instantly in order to damage W= Has cast time (think they're fixing this) No early wave clear, no map pressure.
Something has to give. She's never been weak, and you talk like you want her to be some omnipotent god -- though, now that she has an expensive skin, that's what'll happen.

I mean, I don't think I ever claimed to want her to be a god? I just want her to be able to wave clear with some super simple E changes, hell revert the ult "buff" and take away 10% slow from E, just give it charge time and shes square. The fact you think her ult is OP when Xerath has a spammable Lux ult with shorter range is absolutely absurd to me.
If you have problems with Lux, you also have to have problems with Xerath. If at least thats somewhat true to you, your argument is still somewhat viable- however if it isn't, your own logic has huge flaws in it. I have never thought of her even close to OP, hell countless streamers list VERY similar reasons as I've stated as why Lux just isn't seen a lot in any games a Diamond+ is planning to win (streamers will take her if you relentlessly request it, despite them hating it). As for streamers, Froggen/Scarra are two personally I can name that have said she is absolute trash.
Also I probably only get 1-2 ult resets a game when I did play her. Most of the time they were rank 1 resets (10% then- 30% now) because the team hadn't stacked resistances yet. If 1-2 ult resets is OP, you're going to have to look at a whole lot more champions with reset mechanics/short cooldowns (Yi/Kat/Kass/tons of others).
You're also basing a ton of your argument off of "10 second ults", however a lot of that comes in extreme requirements that need to be met: -Level 16 (Kinda rare in todays shorter games, probably only 30% of games get to this point) -Max CDR (Not difficult, usually reached with her builds- but also this is late game) -Ultimate Hat (Most run Mana flow-band? Lol. 50/50 on this one) -Kill lands within the 1.75 second window (Most kills late game don't fall in this category; reason? Late game Lux should be using Ult to initiate a fight/chunk them in order of hoping to get it back up a second time by the end of it, 80% she doesnt get it, 20% she does)
Holy conditions. You can't base an argument off of extreme outliers, no one can take an argument off these principals very seriously. And lets fucking forget all of that for a second, ALL of those conditions, lets say she does get the reset; what exactly is so OP about that again?
What makes Lux broken is the very thing you want to buff: Her unavoidable AoE nuke that has a <10s CD. Combine that with her mile long snare, her ult that now resets on top of doing too much damage, and her team utility with W... she's just got too much going for her. I'm fine with the ult reset if they lower her E damage a lot (or dramatically lower the missile speed so you can actually dodge it, instead of hoping she misses), but as it is she's way overboard. A competent Lux can't lose lane, and has great roams and teamfighting as well. Something has got to give.
Well, that and also she is a good candidate for pro-play because her plays look "flashy" and "epic".
Yeah, there's that too.
