Watch all 20 minutes you won't regret it.

EDIT: The video is about damage creep, not bruisers or Conqueror, so instead of circle jerking him maybe actually watch the video

Ok guys. I took the bullet. This video wasn't too bad to be honest. His points were basically this.

  1. Damage from runes is too high. It feels really bad to dodge everything and get hit by stray damage and lose 1/4 of your HP from aery/comet and scorch.
  2. 1 shotting feels bad across the board. But everyone has to be able to in this meta because everyone else can, this is a part of damage creap.
  3. Cc duration should be reduced and damage should be nerfed and defense buffed.
  4. Resolve scales poorly and it's a problem.
  5. Champions recently are unfun by design.
  6. The game is too much like urf which is driving players away.
  7. The design team needs a goalkeeper to keep bad design out of the game if it causes bad experiences for people.
  8. The health of the game shouldn't suffer for an extended period of time for pro play.

(Disclaimer, I don't agree with all of this, however it's a rough rundown of his points)

  1. The design team needs a goalkeeper to keep bad design out of the game if it causes bad experiences for people.

Shouldn't Meddler or Ghostcrawler be doing this?

Automated Riven23 votes

The argument is that they aren't because everyone seems to be trying to one-up each other in the design catagory. He makes the claim that morello used to do that and we need someone else who is charged with it.

Linna Excel12 votes

Yeah. I thought that Meddler took over for morello so I'm wondering if that should be his job.

Automated Riven2 votes

I honestly don't know. I am not sure if there is even someone who would have the authority to make such a call in the design team. Or who that would be.

  1. The game is too much like urf which is driving players away.

I think it's because Riot has a huge increase in gameplay when URF comes up. The only reason for that though is because most of the time it's the same gamemode over and over and people like the change of pace that comes with URF. That doesn't mean they want that playstyle in the normal gamemode. That's why rotating game mode needs to come back. People like to be able to take break, play something new and refreshing for a little bit to clear their mind, and then return to the grind every once in a while. Yes, there's ARAM and TT, but those are the other gamemodes that are always up and so people get bored with them. Especially since the biggest difference in them is the amount of lanes and that ARAM gives you a random champ. Ranked can be tough. People get frustrated (especially if they're losing a lot of games), they tilt, they get toxic, and they have no outlet. No way to take a break other than to leave the game for a while, but they want to keep playing. They just aren't having fun. That's why people get so excited when URF or One for All come up. Why people are excited for Nexus Blitz. Because they get that break/de-stresser while still getting to play. Riot just needs to realize this.

Ahpe1 votes

Well which points do you agree and disagree with?

Automated Riven1 votes

Points I agree with would be 1, 4,6,8

Points I somewhat agree with would be 2. 1 shotting feels bad if everyone is doing it, and there isn't any macro play you can do to escape it. So in this meta where everyone does it,it feels bad. However in a meta where you have to pick specific champions to, and you have macro and micro okay to avoid it then it's fine. 3. I think cc is fine. The rest I agree with. Cc won't be overbearing of the other problems get fixed. 5. I would agree that Zoe is rather unfun, that being said the only thing that should have not been released on her is her w. That ability is horrible. 7. I think they already do this. The noteble exception is possible akalies w (haven't played against it enough to see if there is adequate counter play. And Zoe w)

All in all it was a decent video and most of his points were right (in my opinion) that being said there were a lot of simply false statements or conclusions that he made. For example. In his rant about cc he made the claim that Lulu only has 1700 hp because she can 'chain polymorph'. Which is A. False. Her polymorph has a 2.25 second duration and a Max like 7.5 second CD. So a 5 second downtime. And B. Not the reason she has a low HP pool, which would tie much closer into a spammable shield 5.5 second cooldown at 45% cdr and lasts for 2.5 seconds (used to last for 6) and an instant cast 300-600 bonus HP.

Hibeki7 votes

I totally disagree in CC being fine. Especially ones not reduced by tenacity.

I can have the maximum amount of tenacity possible on my darius (this has happened) and I STILL get crowd controlled for the entirity of the fight.

Automated Riven3 votes

That's fair actually. He was specifically talking about ahri charm and noc fear.

But I agree. Knockup durations should be reduced. And regular cc reducable by tenacity is fine. I should have specified.

But that's not what_ this_ video is about, you CLEARLY DID NOT WATCH.

I admit he's a meme but the title actually caught my eye and was worth the watch.

To be fair. When he started that binge he wasn't wrong.

However now he is is just whining.

He is like terrans from Starcraft. They whine all the damn time and they all circle jerk the 1 or 2 times a year they are actually right about something.

Idk. I haven't watched the video yet. If it's just about damage being too high I will probably agree. However, I would never advise citing hashinshin as a reputable source. Because even if he is rights, there is typically a bunch of things mixed in that are wrong.

Edit just to point out. He has always been this way. I remember in season 2 him coming to the boards throwing fits about bruisers being too weak when they were just fine by every measurable statistic.

AirKingNeo5 votes

doesnt think conqueror making tanks unplayable is overpowered

Mundo, Poppy, Singed, Sejuanni, Malphite (based on OP.gg stats, he's suprirsingly high), Shen (got nerfed recently), and Cho'Gath. These are all meta viable tank picks.

How are tanks unplayable?

Fízz v24 votes

whats funny is how all of these are either played for their high damage or their high cc/good ganks, not because they are actually tanks that soak damage. Because they cant against Conqueror, Yasuo is gonna 4 shot you anyway and youre gonna be useless xd

AirKingNeo3 votes

Actually, most top laners who are meta don't even use Conqueror. Yauso is a problem, I agree, but the rest of top laner doesn't see Conqueror outside of Darius.

Dope Solo18 votes

Spot on. Electrocute - Ka-chunk.

Talon W + ignite. Dead.

Zed Auto E, hits 1 Q - Dead. Misses half his abilities - still kills you.

Ahri Buffed lvl 1 charm.

"Maybe we shoudln't be dying in 1-hit" Huh, you think? Riot has shit between its ears right now.

inb4 everyone says Hashinshin spews bullshit

Automated Riven4 votes

He does tho. While there is a fair amount of truth in this video, there is a fair amount of bullshit as well.

The problem with hashinshin is that even when he is correct. He also can't break the bias of a toplaner that has to run it down top every game.

LarryLobsterGuy8 votes

"I watch stream highlights so I know that Hashinshin's just a whiny idiot" ~This comment section

If you actually listen to what he has to say, his points are pretty valid.

Refusing to hear out someones points in an argument/debate because you don't like the person or you think your right no matter what is childish and moronic. Dont they teach you that in school?

Fízz v22 votes

The point I always hear him making is "balance for fun".. Meanwhile he is known for playing Jax, a cancer low counterplay auto attack champ that needs a rework and Im pretty sure 90% of the community doesnt like fighting xd

Automated Riven4 votes

What's wrong with fighting Jax?

Fízz v23 votes

Steraks being broken, Conqueror being broken, Trinity being very strong, and his kit having next to 0 mechanical counterplay. So.. everything, really LUL

AirKingNeo2 votes

Sterak's is broken? The item was nerfed for Jax and he lost like 2-3 autos of damage per combo.

Conqueror is broken? Then why does no meta top use it? Why is it statistically weak?

Trinity so strong it costs 3733 gold.

There is so much mechanical outplay to Jax. Any dash negates counterstrike. Any proper wave control against his passive.

Fízz v22 votes

If Jax couldnt use his own pretty-high range and low cooldown dash during his counterstrike, I would say that he has counterplay.

VermillionWolf7 votes

Says jax is cancer Mains Fizz

MasterDClone3 votes

calling one cancer doesn't say that yours isn't cancer, i know that shaco is toxic but i can still call other champions toxic lol

TonyTonyMordecai7 votes

I watched the video earlier today, have to say, he actually made some valid points, along with some other things that would allow runes to be open to more champions. Was honestly surprised, given sometimes he tends to whine, but he was nice and calm during his discussion

Kowe The Ewok7 votes

I know he isn't the most popular player, thus - naturally - a lot of people will disagree with him for the sake of disagreeing with him.

That being said - he's 100% right. Though he focuses a tad too much on mages. It's an issue across the board.

We need the armor and mr we lost to the runes rework (remember 9x yellow armor runes were a must on most champs) added to champs base stats.

FrozenFrostFyre5 votes

I agree with his on the rune rework stuff, it seems to be that the "role specific runes" where thrown out the window half way through the development phase.

on class stuff: Assassin's aren't fun, getting oneshot by a single mage ability isn't fun, getting 2 shot by an adc isn't fun. we do need an anti-damage creep patch where we buff base hp on everyone in the game.

first video of hashinshin i've seen him not being an idiot. kinda interesting. glad he put aside his biased for this video.

So you are saying damage is fine or should be buffed?

chipndip14 votes

I'm saying Hashinshin is an emotional crybaby that, regardless of if he's right or wrong, is problematic for the community and game health. He doesn't think before he leaps and this impulsive behavior caused Riot to listen to this man and warp the entire meta around his opinions. The reason we're even in this situation in the first place is largely due to him. Why listen to him EVEN MORE? Even if he's right, he's the worst messenger to convey it.

AirKingNeo5 votes

Then you're detracting from the entire point of the thread. The topic is about the game having too much damage, but you're just complaining about who is saying it as if that matters in the context of the topic.

Of course, it doesn't matter, and there are 3 reasons why. 1) It doesn't help generate discussion. 2) It distracts from the discussion. 3) It distracts from being objective.

He doesn't think before he leaps

Not sure how thinking out a video idea, recording multiple times, gathering sources, and writing down topics of discussion on notepad qualifies as "not thinking before one leaps", and is rather the opposite. It shows preparation.

and this impulsive behavior caused Riot to listen to this man

I just proved that his behavior shows preparation. That also means it isn't impulsive (or as impulsive as you imply). It shows effort in something, which is the type of person who should be listened to. Unfortunately for someone like me, you, or Rubick, we aren't popular streamers despite putting in the effort.

and warp the entire meta around his opinions.

What part of the meta is warped around his opinions?

The only viable bruiser is Darius? And he's falling out of favor? That doesn't sound very Hashinshin favored. Mages are still dealing near true damage at 1.5 items? That doesn't sound very Hashinshin favored. Tank supports like Braum, who Hashinshin has said needed to be nerfed, are still king? That doesn't sound very Hashinshin favored. Jugnle ganks at LEVEL TWO. That doesn't sound very Hashinshin favored. Gold funneling being nerfed by blaming junglers, instead of nerfing supports because Hashinshin believes their items are OP? That doesn't sound very Hashinshin favored. Funneling in the form of Knight's Vow and Zeke's Harbinger being placed on ADCs from junglers still being allowed, despite Hashinshin's complaints about this when it started post tank update? That doesn't sound very Hashinshin favored. Current state of Talon That doesn't sound very Hashinshin favored. Sterak's nerf without compensation to Jax, Irelia, etc? That doesn't sound very Hashinshin favored. Canceling the fucking bruiser item update? That doesn't sound very Hashinshin favored. Conqueror being nerfed despite most meta tops not even using it in the first place? That doesn't sound very Hashinshin favored. Kennen being picked and banned in LCK? That doesn't sound very Hashinshin favored. Ornn STILL being one of the best picks. That doesn't sound very Hashinshin favored.

The reason we're even in this situation in the first place is largely due to him.

I've made my list above, so what exactly is his fault? The bruisers are weak, tanks are rising back up. He's unrelated to assassins and has asked for mages to not deal near true damage on 1.5-2 items. ADCs are coming back up and supports are still king. Junglers got even more ganky. What exactly did he do?

Even if he's right, he's the worst messenger to convey it.

At this point, I just think you're being heavily biased and very anti-objective. You don't really have a good argument against him, and you aren't taking an objective stance by comparing positives and negatives. Plus, you know the circlejerk of these boards is the absolute worst messenger of it, because they don't use evidence or facts, and don't give good suggestions (reduce all damage by 20% omegalul).

I hope you actually take this to heart because I think you've jumped to conclusions and only look at the negativity. Maybe you don't like his personality, but you could at least respect his ideas. Of course, I feel like I'm jumping to conclusions myself a bit on the end of this comment, but I'm banking on it in hopes you at least give things a different look.

xevi3 votes

The only viable bruiser is Darius? And he's falling out of favor? That doesn't sound very Hashinshin favored.

Let's actually review this, since it's flat out false. Garen, Jax, Camille, Kled, and Aatrox are all top tier picks within Hashinshin's champion pool (maybe not Camille but definitely the rest) who all sit at decent win/pick rates. The top meta is pretty Hashinshin favored. Jax is a decent spot. Aatrox is pretty powerful but with a high learning curve. Garen is a very respectable pick, easily among the "monster" tops right now despite his simplicity and Quinn being so largely popular. Kled, like Jax, is also a pretty good pick. All these champs are S/S+ rated according to u.gg in plat+.

Jungle ganks at LEVEL TWO. That doesn't sound very Hashinshin favored.

Jungle used to gank at level three and hash complained; he's probably one of the reasons jungle experience got nerfed. He's going to complain about jungle ganks no matter what. Hell, junglers could ALWAYS gank at level two; if anything the changes just pushed out junglers who couldn't contest the early scuttle at level two or who are heavily reliant on level three to gank with the addition of not being scale (like Elise). Trying to use jungle ganks at level two as a point to not very "Hashinshin favored", especially after the changes, may as well mean that junglers shouldn't be able to hit level 2 off of first camp. He's always going to complain about the jungle anyway unless the role is removed.

The rest of your points are pretty spot on; however, your overall top meta read missing out on Jax/Kled/Garen is just hilarious.

? Haven't seen tank nerfs across the board or mages. Haven't seen riot NOT nerfing sterak, conq, tp. Have seen riot pulling bruiser item update again tho. Literally all we got was conq. 6 months after every class had atleast ONE keystone. And for conq we got tp nerfed, sterak nerfed and conq nerfed too. So yeah we are pretty much worse off than before. What ACTUALLY brought us this meta is the following: massive buff to mages, stormrazor, buffs to assassins across the board, removal of MR runes, magic pen buffs, riot keeps buffing champs damage across the board, new runes loaded with damage, years of powercreep especially by the addition of CDR for everyone.

chipndip11 votes

? Haven't seen tank nerfs across the board or mages.

Are you joking? Most tanks don't even NEED to be nerfed since they're sub 50% win rate champions in solo queue in the first place. Regardless, yes, Riot still nerfed a bunch of tanks.

Haven't seen riot NOT nerfing sterak, conq, tp.

Only now that the whole "damage is too high" discussion came to a head, they're finally doing this.

Have seen riot pulling bruiser item update again tho.

Cause they were already super strong without the items.

Literally all we got was conq. 6 months after every class had atleast ONE keystone.

And a ton of buffs while nerfing supports, marksmen, and tanks.

And for conq we got tp nerfed, sterak nerfed and conq nerfed too.

TP being nerfed had NOTHING to do with Conqueror or Sterak's.

So yeah we are pretty much worse off than before.

That is delusional speak.

When Riot does exactly what the man says (buff fighters, nerf tanks/supports) while referencing his temper tantrums specifically in a set of patch notes after holding one or two private meetings with him, yes...I think he's had a major influence in the current direction of the game.

Hashinshin complains about any champion who kills him after he runs at them like a monkey on Jax.

Automated Riven17 votes

Ehh. I appreciate criticizing hashinshin as much as the next guy. But the runes are far more to blame then conqueror specifically. The damage creap at this point is almost entirely the removal of defensive runes we had last season, as well as essentially adding an entire new spell or passive worth of damage into every champion in the form of a keystone.

ISLAMICWARRIOR994 votes

Why do people listen to this guy, hes legit delusional and its obvious if you watch his stream considering half his games he ints and then says its bc x champ is op or jungle disparity. Its partially his fault the game is so fucking shit rn. People need to realisze hash doesn't want a balanced game, he wants jax to be broken as fuck and able to just walk down top and 1v9 every game.

Jinzo Torrance4 votes

A chronic whiner is right twice a season and this time he chose to complain about something that is already being very vocally discussed about in the community. He's just trying to get views to look like he's the one forcing Riot to change the game, making people think he's not complaining about random crap 100% of the time.
