Best options if you're packing in for the long haul

we've all had games that went off the rails immediately. Flame wars before 10 mins, 15 kills back at the end of laning. People are screaming "we need dragon" when that's obviously not top priority. You know, those games.

Anyway, I've become decent at going "Alright, we're not winning this one, so don't bother typing." But what is the best way to get something out of this match? I typically mute everyone and keep playing to the situations I find myself in. Focus towers. Hope for a DC.

But what do you folks do when you're sitting there in a helpless game, as the support, or some ineffectual champ for one reason or another?

You keep trying to play smart, which often means giving up 3 inhibs and baron without a contest but as long as you keep your head in it you will be doing just fine. Also if early on it seems like the game is sliding out of your control, you need to take notice of this and start making hyper aggressive plays in the hopes of getting yourself fed as to be a beacon of hope for your team.

I agree with just playing smart. Try to get as much vision as you can safely. I don't mute my team though, almost never will I mute even one person. Tell them to calm down, to slow the game down and farm up. If you're the only one playing that way it's not going to matter.

I've also noticed this, unless you're in really high elo (and even then sometimes) once a team has a big advantage they often get overaggressive (diving instead of taking a free tower, every player trying to push advantages even when their team isn't in place to pressure elsewhere, not keeping up vision). Punish those plays.
