For those who think Sona is brain dead easy.

Rather then fight you i would like you to answer a single question for me. The running argument seems to be that Sona's Q is to easy and free to land and use as a harass tool IE "FREE DAMAGE". So i would like those who think this to tell me how you would have Sona's Q work if it was a skill shot (because if it requires skill to land the hit it must be fair). Currently i have two ideas in mind, it would either work like Ezreal 's Mystic shot OR Karma Inner flame. Both have issues which i will list out below, but they both fit a theme that Sona could work with.

Ezreal : If Sona's Q was changed to work like this, that would require that the damage it does would have to be increase quite steeply. since you no longer hit two targets one can't argue that the ability technically does X times 2 damage. On top of that, since it can now miss targets or simply hit minions the low base damage isn't enough to pose a real threat even if you land the shot. There is also the question of if the ability should carry on-hit effects since it can only hit one target.

Karma : If Sona's Q is changed to work like this, that means Sona now has an AOE attack with a low base cooldown. Since it's AOE the damage would not need to be increased much since you could hit 2-4 targets per cast. This does how ever mean that in team fights Sona will be outputting considerably more team damage if targets are grouped close together. It also means that Sona could be viable mid lane since she now has a decent wave clear ability, that can also be used to harass her opponent.

Both of these ideas also fix the issue of Sona having these huge power hits from AA+Q+AA reset+ Q damage modifier+ passive+ (possible spellblade effects like item 3057 )

It's an easy fix, her Q puts W on a 24 sec CD and vise versa. That way she would have to plan out whether to poke or sustain but couldn't just faceroll like now.

giving you the benefit of the doubt that you aren't just a troll.

How does that fix the issue? Does she get a reduced cooldown on her offensive and defensive spells? Does she get a very large boost in effectiveness? Since if you can't cast damaging spells for that long after healing, or the other way around, you are going to need a really powerful and/or fast ability to spell sling to make up for such a harsh limiter.

I meant implement this instead of the nerfs. So she can either have the strong short CD poke or decent sustain/mobility but can't rapidly alternate between the two.

It's the poke, poke, heal, repeat that makes her so dominant in lane because you can't counter her poke with aggression because she instantly has the heal/defensive aura to back It up.

Or for example if she wants to risk throwing a big power chord Q to finish off or chunk a squishy then that is offset by the fact that her ADC will be vulnerable until heal CD would come back up.

I'm ok with her being a poke/nuke, I'm ok with her being a heal/buff bot, I'm even ok with her switching between the two throughout the game. What's not ok is her doing all 3 at the same time with a game-changing ult as a backup plan.

But the thing is sona isn't intended to be this poke machine she has become. Even when my friends play her they intentionally kill enemy champs with the Q and build full AP instead of going support which was sona's intended niche.

I would like to point out that due to Riots changes to her healing, mobility, and damage buff for allies. She does not have the tools to play as a passive support. Your heals need a lot CDR and AP to go out fast enough and big enough to off set in coming damage numbers. Your need a lot of AP to give your damage boost some real BANG (since it's only a 30% scaling, was 20% till just a bit ago.) Even your movement speed bonus basically requires you to spam, and having a chunk of AP to buff the numbers is nice. And if you are already going to run 56% CDR (max CDR plus level two ult) and like 200+ AP so your utility......

As far as kit/design changes to sona, I'd like her to get away from a ability spamming and poking style and something we don't see much of in league: Area buff / denial.

I'd like to see Sona drop 'zones' of buffs... like healing or reduced damage on the actual terrain, and her allies /enemies and her must stand in it to gain or suffer the effects.
