New Crit Changes

Hi, let's talk about the new crit itemization changes. Here's what I think.

They give marksmen a more reasonable build path since everything in their core builds crit. This really helps the Essence Reaver marksmen, because they now have a legitimate rush item again. Other marksmen who don't build it are still going to have to go the old BF sword into Zeal item path though. That's unfortunate because this is the second crit rework in a short span so something awkward like this should certainly be fixed in this one. Storm razor is probably going to become the new Essence Reaver, only built on Draven. So the best way to fix both problems would be to give it some crit, make it build out of Karcheis Shard, and tweak it to be a legitimate rush item for marksmen.

That brings us into our next problem. Just like before, each ADC is going to grab hold of their favorite zeal items that synergizes with them and not let go. The only addressing of this issue was the phantom dance change, which gives it a passive that any ADC would want to build. As it stands, Ruunans and Statik Shiv are just too unique, and no one who doesn't synergize with them is gonna build them, especially not together. Riot needs to get these items out of such a niche and make them more circumstantial. One option for statik is to make it a bit weaker but activate every 3 auto attacks, so it separates itself from RFC and SR, who rely on poke, becoming an aoe item for those that don't build ruunans instead.

The last problem is that gold efficiency has dropped from the build path (compared to the pre-mid season iterations). Every item seems to have lost stats in comparison to its former selves. I know the reason for this is because Riot wants crit marksmen to come online faster but be weaker once they get there. The problem here is they didn't drop any of the gold prices, so they aren't coming online any earlier than before (pre-mideason of course), they are just gonna be weaker.

This is the most concerning on Infinity Edge. The item lost quite a bit of damage compared to either iteration, yet is still just as expensive. It needs to gain another passive, either part of the true damage one, or a new one all together. I don't support a price drop for this item because I believe it should be the end game ADC item, while a reworked stormrazor should be the starter one along with Essence Reaver for certain marksmen. As a result, I recommend adding a scaling passive on it. For example: One that has to stack up based on how much AD/AS you have so far.

TLDR; Storm razor needs crit so it can be a legitimate rush item, zeal items need to be more interchangeable, and gold efficiency needs to either be addressed or Infinity edge needs to be stronger late game to compensate.

New Phantom Dancer is complete shit.

I think Shard items are in a fine spot, tbh. Yes, only champs that synergize with them build them... but that's also true for Runaan's, isn't it? As long as all marksmen have items that work for them, I don't see a major issue here.

It's far better than the classic mage problem, where 90+% of mages build exactly the same thing because they all want moar damage. The items that have the most AP become meta, Ryze and Anivia keep building Tear and RoA, and that sums up the mage meta for the past 10 years, basically. I like that marksmen have specific items that synergize with some kits and not others. I think that's a good thing.

Storm razor is an awkward outlier.

But for marksmen itll prob be: 2 zeal items and IE Or zeal, one of the two other crit options (Likelt just essence reaver) , IE

Stormrazer will prob just stay for champs that need to be strong early.

Items proposed in better direction but still not a fix (so far)

The crit items on the last thread with those numbers are:

To every crit adc that cant rush ER a NERF on every point of the game

A buff to early-mid to ER users and a nerf to their lategame.

Can someone link the source for the crit item changes? Thanks.
