Is AD Malzahar even playable currently?

I remember a while back when AD malzahar was somewhat viable. Is that still a thing or is he too weak now for it? If it is, what is the best build?

No. Building AD does very little good. His voidlings are pretty lame now. While they do gain a bonus off of AD, they don't gain anything from critical chance or att. speed and his Voidlings don't frenzy anymore. So they can't really "attack" anymore they just sort of chase. Malzahar has no built-in QWE CC where it might be useful even if they were slow, but he don't have it so...

Also, Malzahar's Auto-Attack Range and Mobility has been nerfed. So its not easy to chase with AA.

While you "can" build Hextech Gunblade, you won't find too many Malzahar players actually using it because all of his spells are either AOE or Damage over time, so instead of getting 15% steal, he only get 5%, which is stupid and completely negates most of the utility of the item.

In fact, that is why Malzahar's builds are not diverse because several items that seem interesting, have those AOE / DOT nerfs built in, so he can't take any advantage of them.
