Why have all the black cleaver users switched to trinity force?
I’m looking at the patch history for trinity force but I don’t see anything that would encourage players to switch to trinity force. What am I missing?

Triforce offers better burst and more consistent movement speed, which is more valuable when you're fighting a bunch of squishies trying to kite you versus a tank or bruiser.
It's a side effect of the assassin/burst meta and ranged top laners running rampant.
BC got nerfed multiple times because of 
instead of just nerfing
Burst is worth much more in that shit meta where all champs can kill you in 2-3 sec.
passive was nerfed from 30% at full stacks to 24% at full stacks. after that patch champions like 
and others slowly changed to 
as main item.
Trinity roughly offers the same things as BC: strong stand alone damage item with 20%cdr, mobillity and some HP. In the past, the armorpen off BC was valued alot and the lower price made it the go to, and many liked the bit more beef it gives. But with the ever advanceing damage creep, the %pen feels obsolete as high armor targets hardly exist, and even if they do you can handle them quite well even without BC, and ever since plateings were introduced, early goldgain has accelerated so the higher goldcost for trinity as a rush item isn't that much of a downside anymore.
Also some champ changes, like darius and garen getting more %pen in thier kits so they don't need BC vs armor, or garen now scaleing with the AS

Black cleaver has 0 carry potential as it is so weak and all bruisers who use it has to go full carrymode to have any impact, simple as that.
AD assassins still abusing it.
It is about champions not items... For some BC is still better (like Illaoi).
