So remind me again why people don't like thresh?

because to me I like losing to a thresh way more than losing to a blitz/janna

Idk why people want mechnically simple champions to be as viable or even more viable than mechnically demanding champions Garen

for janna to achieve her goal in the laning phase she needs to shield her ADC every so often, wow so hard! For blitzcrank to achieve his goal in the laning phase he needs to pull someone.

OH but it's terrible when a thresh has to use his entire kit in a successful manner to achieve his goal in the laning phase.

Because he has too many tools. He can do too many things, he takes the roles of to mny others. He kicked out everybody else. "why pick X if you can pick Thresh".

except he doesnt crowd out any picks and yea I agree he does have a lot of tools but it's what makes losing to him way more better than losing to other supports that do almost nothing to win lane

for pick comps blitzcrank is way better

for disengage and protection janna/lulu are way better

for engage and peeling alistar is better

he doesn't? must be the reason he doesn't have the highest pick rate of any support... oh wait!

If you're talking about win rates here I am sure his win rate being slightly lower is completely due to the fact that he appears in every sodding game or something along the lines, which essentially hard locks his win rate into 50% max and can only go lower than that, ofc his win rate is not gonna get high. But that doesn't mean he is completely fine, abnormal 30% pick rate is all we need to say this champ needs a check up frankly.

Let's say that all support champs can do 4 things, which their performance would be scored out of 10 here for better understandings.

Suppose Janna/Lulu/Blitz/Ali/etc all have a general pattern of 2-4 in side categories while 8-10 in specialised field, for example, Lulu has a (2/4/3/9) for her general performance, let's say.

Then comes along Thresh who has 7 for all specialised fields, so he has a (7/7/7/7).

Of course Thresh is still gonna outshine everybody even when there is nothing he is particularly best at, this is the problem with almost all CertainlyT champs.

Exactly - Thresh is basically the best support in the sense that he can do everything. He's got it all. Other people can do certain things better, but he's basically the all-in-one go-to support. You don't really want anything else, especially in soloq, when you can take Thresh.

Analogy time folks.

  • When you're killed by Janna it means she is better than you.
  • When you're killed by Blitz it means that you need to try and read his movement/intention better.
  • When you're killed by Thresh it means he saw you.

So yeah.

so being killed by a janna means she's better than you? she is one of most easiest supports to play in the game, thats like saying a garen is better than you because he killed you

FYI a competent blitzcrank will use coin or righteous glory for a easy knockup into a pull and silence

but yea ok believe what you want lol

Assuming Garen isn't having some off the chart stats, being killed by him means the player is superb.

Because given his champ's very limited functionality, it makes the champ extremely predictable and counterable. Which if there is a player who can work around that, it's a proof of his superiority which not even pros have ever managed to do in playing against their peers.

Yeah Garen reks low elo, but anyone reks there if the player knows anything about the champ he's playing. Some champ are just easier to understand than the other, but that doesn't mean they are also easy to play in actual competitive environments where people actually have ideas.

Same thing with Blitz and to some extent, Janna.
