Its not a damage meta, it's a skill meta
What you are witnessing when you see someone do a lot of damage is actually you being outplayed. When Tryndamere pops Conqueror and triple crits you at level 3 he has asserted himself as the superior player and you as the inferior one. If you are not doing enough damage it is because you need to improve as a player. Damage you deal directly correlates to player skill.
Tanks and enchanters are not meta because they do not take skill. There is no argument otherwise, or else they would be doing damage. Riot has finally made the right choice in balancing to the favor of talented players with superior mechanics.
