Jax needs his old E back

YES IT WAS RNG, but what's the problem if crit is in the game anyway?

since 2012 jax has been either overpowered or underpowered, every single time why? because there was only 2 ways he works: -he's able to kill anyone without his E -he can't do shit without his E

his E is his identity, his power as a melee carry why? Because it's an AOE stun that gives him the unreliable utility of a melee carry he needs and his defensive spell in teamfight (along with his R) but it totally fails to do those 2 things: -his utility since his rework is so bad, 1 second stun every while -counterstrike is so counterproductive right now, NO ONE USES IT TO COUNTERSTRIKE, all jax press E+Q+E again to stun you all know that it's terrible to protect jax since everyone will stop dealing with him they will wait 2 seconds and kill him without him being able to do anything because he has no slow to keep people fighting him

that's why he needs his old counterstrike but with few changes

old: Passively increases Jax's dodge chance by 10 / 12 / 14 / 16 / 18%. active: Jax stuns surrounding enemies for 1 second and deals 80 / 100 / 120 / 140 / 160 (+ 60% AP) magic damage to them (can be used within 7 seconds after dodging an attack)

cooldown: 3 seconds

New:

Passively increases Jax's dodge chance by 10/15/20/25/30% (increased to compensate the lack of dodge runes/ninja tabi, it's only 30% because old 50% chance was overpowered)

active: Jax stuns surrounding enemies for 1 second and deals X damage to them (can be used within **2 seconds **after doding an attack)

cooldown: **6 seconds ** mana cost: 50/60/70/80/90 mana

Because dodge mechanic is uninteractive and players have absolutely no control over whether or not it works.

Ahristocats2 votes

you don't have control over crit either ???

Ralanr1 votes

Yes you do. The ability to purchase or sell it is control.

Doseqis2 votes

You get to actively phurchase it and crit early and somewhat mid suck due to the lack of AD on many crit items and the inconsistency of it which is why many ADCs used to buy pen and before that rageblade.

Dodge was just a % chance to get screwed over in lane and the enemy had no control over it, not to mention not many top laners buy crit so rng really isn't a factor top.

You have direct control over whether or not you're dealing damage though, Sure, there's a chance you might crit multiple times or maybe not even crit at all but either way you're still doing damage. With dodge on the other hand there's a chance you won't even hit a champion due to dodge or in the case of Jax's E, there's a chance the spell won't even work. Hell even if Jax's E wasn't up there was still a chance you might not deal any damage through AA's at all.

Ahristocats1 votes

same thing with dodge either you reduce the damage a little with armor or you reduce it by a lot with dodge

crit: either you deal a little with AD or you deal a lot of damage with crit

Ralanr2 votes

Well for starters, champions usually have to build crit and the more crit you have the less RNG it becomes (in theory anyway). Crit also has itemization to weaken it (omen is really the only direct one, but heart also weakens it for heavy attack speed users).

Saying dodge is ok RNG because we have crit feels like a logical (or illogical) fallacy. Which one I'm not sure.

Ahristocats2 votes

Dodge is ok RNG because when you have multiple people hitting you suddenly it's no longer RNG and you will dodge a lot

Ralanr2 votes

That doesn't seem healthy at all. It makes you more tanky than you appear.

Ahristocats2 votes

that's the most bullshit thing i ever heard

there is no such thing being "more tanky than you appear" if a champ has dodge than he should be considered tankier IN SOME SITUATIONS, dodge is just like %damage reduction but only against basic attacks and the RNG mechanic is here to force enemies to deal with jax rather than running away to wait his E to disappear

other melee carries not only have a reliable defensive tool, but this tool also doesn't make enemies fleeing except tryndamere's ulti

but tryndamere can still keep up with them with his W slow that slows enemies running away

You really don't want to admit your idea was bad and this post is more of a "hey i'm right and your wrong post" even though dodge was the worst mechanic in the game.

Crit is empowering for a champion while dodge is devaluing the enemy and feels like crap, i can counterbuild crit with randuins and general armor but dodge just has no counterplay

Ahristocats2 votes

Crit is negated by armor, but armor is negated by armor penetration

Dodge isn't meant to be countered on the other hands, it's a stat that ONLY JAX would have and a stat made for him to survive, that's the whole reason dodge is useless in Dota2 because they have true strike that's just like having %damage reduction penetration, negating %damage reduction of alistar/maokai ulti

This would also make his laning rather oppressive since his dodge chance would increase with minion aggro.

We don't need to encourage more RNG in league when we want to be rid of it.

Ahristocats1 votes

i would say it's intended, but then if it ends up being a problem riot can make his dodge only working against monsters and minions

it's not an "increasing dodge chance" it's using dodge at its fullest power since you will dodge more attacks since more people are going to attack you

you still have the same % chance of missing nothing is reducing your damage even more against him, nothing changes, but he just have more chance to dodge an attack and get the active of his E

and it's also risky to stay with the minion aggro on you, even if you dodge 10% of their attack they will STILL DO a lot of damage

Though this dodge mechanic wouldn't really fix the problem of people not fighting him with his defensive mechanic. If anything it actually makes it worse because he's at his weakest defensively in a 1v1 (which is when he's strongest offensively) and he discourages focus in teamfights because his dodge chance is increased.

Again, we shouldn't be trying to encourage more RNG when we don't even like crit.

Ahristocats1 votes

it increases massively his ability to 1v1, you really didn't play pre-rework jax did you?

i literally didn't change anything except making his E RNG, it's still the SAME MECHANIC

weaker in1v1? why wouldn't the current E make him weaker in 1v1? since he can't dodge the attacks of a lot of people, he cant' dodge SHIT right now because of his E not being RNG right now his E is terrible at 1v1, and his new E wouldn't be more effective in teamfight why the hell are you thinking this?

New E would be as good in 1v1 as in teamfight since if multiple people attack him he's going to take more damage

making his E RNG is only making people actually attacking him and him actually doding attacks since people are going to trade with him since they can't disengage like they can right now

Ralanr1 votes

He's not supposed to take more damage in general. He's supposed to be rather squishy.

Ahristocats1 votes

how is this related to my post? he's going to take more damage because MORE people are attacking him, just like anyone going into 1v1 then in 5v5

Ralanr1 votes

Except his dodge chance is higher when more people attack him.

Ahristocats1 votes

Nop, dodge chance is the same no matter what

check the mechanic

Jax gets 70 armor and MR with his ult and a amazing defensive cooldown in his dodge, he gets to completely negate alot of top laners damage and still lets you trade in minions.

He has tons of tools for defense

WoonStruck1 votes

I think its more that Jax absolutely sucks in any meta where tanks/tank items are common.

Once people start buying resistances, Jax's damage falls off a cliff because he can't buy penetration, since its all so insanely inefficient on him.

If anything, he needs % bonus armor/mr pen on his ult or passive.
