Kalista, the support?!?!?

I wasn't able to ask any questions during the Q&A i was busy at the time. But this champion has a lot of abilities which are very support esq.*

  • a ward / vision bot
  • Her W's passive which requires people to proc the damage off. (much like braum)
  • Her Ult, which is the worst of all... It gives her support (sometimes the teams tank) Untargetablity and then the person you have soulbound has the choice(NOT YOU) to go in and knock the enemy up.

She seems like a very good support and an awful ADC. I think she will be great in a duo top scenario or just as a basic support in bot lane.

Yea i had a friend that said this same thing, called him stupid. lol You can play her as suport if you want, you can play anyone as support and justify their kit in one way or another. Yauso has cc and a wall to protect his adc from auto attacks and abilities. Ori has a speed boost, a slow, a shield, cc and damage, she can support. Syndra has a stun and a slow, she can support. Quinn has a ability that gives vision, she can blind the enemy adc and vault of them to stop channels.

You can justify anyone as a support, the point with Kalista is that she is designed to be an adc. Her passive, her q, her w and her e all allow her to be very strong alone. There is no reason to play her as support, on a support budget when she is stronger than most adcs without her ult. Her ult is just icing on the cake that allows for her to tell her support when to engage. It allows other champions such as galio to be a support now. You toss him into the team, he ults, ur ori mid ults, you win.

So, play her as support if you want, but your argument for her being a support is no more or less valid than for quinn being a support or braum being a top laner. There are justifications for everything, that doesn't mean that is where they are best suited.

her passive is the only thing in her kit that screams "IM AN ADC" otherwise her Q is a generic skillshot with an ad ratio on it. Her W is a vision utility spell and her E has low scaling and you cant control ur ult if ur bound person doesn't wanna go in...

Her passive, and her W passive are what defines her. Not her W active, which is just a way to get vision like Ashe or Quinn have had for years. She requires a support to use her ult and W passive, an adc does not require a Kalista to do anything.

Besides her ult, which is meant to be versatile, i don't see why she'd be any more of a support than Ashe would (which admittedly that is her secondary role, but Ashe support is bad).

Again, feel free to play her support, I just don't see why you'd wanna do that when you can play her as an ADC and get more out of her.

her w is on a 90 second cooldown (basically an ultimate) and its not even a ward its a little scouting tool that can be killed off in 0.5 seconds.

ppl gotta stop generalizing spells and actually read them. her W will not replace wards nor will it actually be a ward.

this is true, but it also puts vision on them and can be basically spammed for very little mana so it can be a great help, though Idk why you'd wanna toss your adc into the middle of them, its a horrible idea.

Kalista is not a support, about the first time you throw your adc right into them, he's going to die. It is extremely stupid to place your most vulnerable person in the most dangerous spot like that.

If you bind your jungler, you'll give away when they are bot, because of the chain animation appearing.

Kalista is a horrible support if you plan to actually have the element of surprise on your side, which is extremely important.

1.) it automatically sends ur bound target to you IF they are within range (fastest escape in game and it can save ur ADC from death.) 2.) don't use ur ult to cc just use it as an escape. 3.) bind ur jungler then you cant proc ur W 4.) why does the element of surprise have anything to do with being a good support or having a support kit?

1&2)You can save your adc, but have no real hard cc otherwise, compared to someone like Leona or Thresh who will still be quite viable in the late, unlike you, it isn't worth it. You'll have no real dps, you'll have no hard cc. 3) bind your jungler, because you want to give away when they are near by the link animation. 4) If you do link to your jungler, you lose all gank potential, as when they get close the particles will show they are near, and the opponents will back off. If you link to your adc, you can't hard engage since your only hard engage is sending you ally into them for a knockup.

She's a horrible support, don't play her as support in ranked.

it cant be spammed. it has up to 2 stacks for 90 second cooldown. get that in your thick little head.

i dont want ppl to stop buying wards because "muhh w"

im trying to stop this now

I'm not saying it can be a replacement for wards, I hate the entire idea of Kalista support anyway, but the skill can be used whenever it is available or needed with little cost.

W is never an excuse for wards, just like shrooms aren't an excuse. Screw all you satan players.

I agree, don't Kalista support.

It is ward esq and therfore i am relating it to being supportish. You need to start reading my words.

Agreed, it should fear the enemy, at least like a Shaco box to be useful with such a long cooldown. Or it could rush across the map back towards Kalista(leaving a trail of vision for a short time) when seen by an enemy champion.

bump

If the enemy dies due to the proc of W, Kalista get the kill

Soo..bot lane can end up like this:

http://img0.joyreactor.cc/pics/post/League-of-Legends-%D1%84%D1%8D%D0%BD%D0%B4%D0%BE%D0%BC%D1%8B-%D0%B6%D0%B8%D0%B7%D0%BD%D1%8C-%D0%B1%D0%BE%D0%BB%D1%8C-1399204.jpeg

Or that could never happen cause the first attack kalista would lead with can proc it.

lightdragoon881 votes

It doesn't matter who attacked first or attacked second, if the W is proc, the kill goes to Kalista.

love how narrow minded people are.

iirc morgana was a mid laner, and orianna was a support.

so yeah, why not try this out ?? pretty safe poke, extra ward, braum-y skill, and life saver on R (untargettable). We can talk why she might viable/not when played as support, or let's test the shit out of this

Hmm I can see it work.
