Lets talk new support items.

So part of me is loving the change, not having to drop my first 800 gold to get sightstone effect is AMAZING, and really helps me keep up with the game. The further 950 gold i'm not dropping on item 3092 is also helping me keep on par with my item needs. I am worried at the cost of the other two items, item 3401 costs a lot but gives a really nice stat line bonus; item 3069 doesn't give many stats but it's combine cost is insanely low and i worry that it might be the fastest item to get the sightstone effect active.

Which brings me to a question for everyone. How do you feel about the extended period of time you don't have a sightstone? Does it make the game better or worse, that vision is much more limited for the first couple minutes of the game? Does the extra time give jungle a better early game, since it's harder to ward against them while making sure enemy doesn't abuse bushes; or does it make it worse now that you are left exposed for an additional few minutes?

Also as a side thing, is anyone else having an issue where the upgrade doesn't kick in right when you get the 500 gold for your quest, but instead a couple seconds after? (i posted a thing on bugs about it, but want to see if it's just me)

I really don't get why this change gets so much HATE. I personally LOVE this because it saves gold and I can spend it for other items like an upgraded boots or first part of a major support item as supposed to sightstone. Also, I'm never one that was too fond of the decision between frost queen/talisman/FOTM over the sightstone upgrade, so this change doesn't really affect me directly.

The extended sightstone time period is fine, at least for now. It encourages me more to grab red ward and pay more attention to minimap, which also is a factor that jungler can take into consideration when ganking at earlier levels. So this change affects both supports and jungler/roamer in a way that goes both way => more interesting. Also, if vision is an issue, I will look into things like ghost poro or zombie ward for secondary rune route.

I did see the delay 500 gold mission and it took a little while to transform into the ward item. Personally didn't bother me much, but still could be something they might wanna fix (it if wasn't intended).

Final verdict: I ** LOVE** the change.

Exactly! It's like I said in another post sometime recently: you're not a slave to 3 set items and no power if you choose because I've had the no SS and/or boots flaming prior.

As for the vision game: I just say if you're as good as you claim, you can put some effort into being more map aware. I play Treeline from time to time. All that's there is a periodic 5 second sweeper. You're not alert you're probably gonna get jumped.

All and all most haters are just the haters of change. But why play the game if you know that it'll always change til it stops?

tbh i don't like it because it's a nerf brought by other roles it would be like nerfing item 3089 because of things like Karma Lux Malzahar "support"

But I don't think it's a nerf to supports; as a matter of fact, I see it as a buff. It's definitely a nerf for those who abused the former items and became reliant on those for gold and power and whatnot, but supports wise they have never really NEEDED the upgraded version as core items. Now I can't speak that for everyone, as I'm sure some support players out there rely a lot on those Frost Queen/Tallisman/FOTM as their gameplay plan, but as far as I could see it was never a determining factor of success or failure of a support. Now with the extra income (800g sightstone & upgrade cost), you can get other [support] items more efficiently.

The loss of the previous quest rewards is kind of sad. I'm fine with the loss of queen/talisman/FOTM, but kind of wish i could still get the bonus movement speed when you hit an enemy / bonus movement speed for allies moving towards you/ and bonus regenerating personal shield. Even if the change was something small like you have to get to 800-900 gold quest reward to get the effect.

I suppose, but I personally will be fine because it's basically a revert back to when these quests were not in the game. I'm just glad the shield on Relic shield is gone because good riddance; never liked that on supports, let alone ADCs. I guess with extra gold to spend, they gotta take away something so the support class isn't getting too much without giving anything back.

The delay is likely (I don't know) the same you got for the old quest bonus. i.e. It won't happen in combat.

I've only played a few games since the patch, but I haven't noticed it take longer than before to get wards. But then I always start with a control ward ever since Runes Reforged. That 3 minute gank got deadlier with everyone's damage spike, and the game snowballs so fast now that dying to a gank 3 minutes in almost dooms your lane.

Overall i'm very happy about this latest patch. It's been difficult lately to even get my first support item before the first couple skirmishes that determine the fate of my lane. Now I can have it 800 gold earlier. Thanks so much Riot!

I'd prefer Riot just nerf everyone's damage across the board (and then nerf shields/heals to match, as they would become relatively stronger). But this is an almost entirely positive change that will make supports in general a great deal more impactful throughout the match. So much so that I expect supports will start carrying too hard soon, forcing Riot to rebalance support items once again.

As for the upgrade, they transform out of combat just like the old support items right? It's probably not a bug.
