I'll buy an MR item *Receives 55 MR*

This is the kicker boys: Banshee's Veil, a mage item, gives 60 MR

The fact that Adaptive Helm, Spirit Visage and Abyssal mask only give 55 MR is so awful for this game. These are the "MR Items" the items you buy to survive magic damage

Compare these to Frozen Heart, Randuins or Thornmail (100 AR, 70 AR or 80 AR) and they're paper thin. Mages deal the most damage in this game, and the options you're given to deal with them are trash

"But these items give hp" when you buy these items you already have a sufficient amount of hp, sure the hp helps but the item would give you far more effective hp if the gold value of the item was taken out of hp and put more into MR

Even Locket of the Iron Solari gives 60 MR. It's crazy.

I would say that the health from spirit visage and adaptive helm is better with the magic resist despite being 5 magic resist behind banshees. The reason why banshee's is good is not because of the 60 magic resist but rather the ap considering damage in this season is very powerful so ap/ad will be very strong. The other reason is that banshee's has that spell shield which is really good.

If your complaint is about not having items to help you survive longer, every single defensive item is having trouble helping to keep someone alive long enough because again, at the moment, there's so much damage out there. Whether you buy a banshees or spirit visage/adaptive helm, you will still melt in a matter of seconds. The 5 extra magic resist isn't gonna be making you survive magic damage that much more in comparison to spirit visage/adaptive helm. If we are strictly talking about survivability, the spirit visage or adaptive helm will help you mitigate more damage than banshees if you don't count the spell shield from banshees since spirit visage/adaptive helm give health.

My point was that Banshee's isn't a tank item, but gives more MR than tank items. I wasn't making an argument that Banshee's would make you tankier (unless you had more than 9,000 hp, then it would make you tankier in terms of ehp), only showing that there is clearly favouritism when it comes to mage items

If you consider your hp, armour and MR in gold value, you want to always have 3800 gold more in hp value than in armour and MR value

So if you have 3000 hp, you would want 110.5 Armour and MR to equally maximise your ehp for Armor and MR (12,200 gold spent)

But on the flip side, if you want to maximise your ehp just vs magic damage, you would only want 1800 more gold in hp

So if you have 12,200 gold in this case you would spend 7,000 on hp and 5,200 on MR, getting to 2625 hp and 288.888 MR

A huge difference. You cannot become an MR tank because there is no option to and that's simply because these items do not give enough MR, this is my complaint

I'm not asking that these items become way over 100% gold efficient, only that the value of at least one or two of these items, is shifted away from hp and into MR. Visage gives 1,200 gold in 450hp, If that 1200 gold was spent getting the item to 100 MR, you'd still have 146.25 hp left, and it would be a much better MR item just as a result of that change

it's not just mr, armor is basically useless too so idk what your point really is. It's not that there isn't good mr choices. It's cuz defense just sucks at the moment cuz theres too much damage. You can have 6 thornmails but adcs will still fuck you up with no last whisper.

They really aren't useless though, you feel the resists when Aftershock procs. You need that +70 Armor and MR to be tanky. When you get Frozen Heart + Randuins and go ape mode on an ADC, they can't do shit. Their autos will deal 50 damage and you murder them. Armor items are super good at their job when you get a couple

MR items stack like hot garbage because there's not an MR item that gives a considerable amount of MR. You can see the effect on champion damage charts, mages rank highly in damage

it is useless relative to the amount of damage that is currently in the game. What kind of shit are you smoking? Obviously it does something, but the amount it does is negligible. Sure you become a slight bit tankier than if you didnt have the tank items yes, but by how much? not much. Aka useless. Learn about relativity bruh

item 3065 + health regen + any spellvamp or lifesteal items on kits or items is broken. Of course it has to be 55MR, it has one of the strongest unique passive in the game that has limiteless synergy you moron.

The value of the item can remain unchanged while making it better at mitigating magic damage, is my point

You're often building Visage so that your hp gain isn't irrelevant vs champions with item 3165 or summoner 14, and even then you're paying a lot of gold to get to square 1. Even then, the item's ratio of hp to MR is trash, so you overpay for what you get

Sure if the enemy team doesn't build grievous wounds vs Mundo and Visage gave 100 MR he'd mitigate a lot of magic damage (which he should if he buys MR items) and get a ton of effective hp from the item. However, as soon as you add grievous wounds into the mix, that point of getting a huge amount of ehp from Visage, if it has more MR, falls apart

"But, if we make MR items like that better, mages wont do damage anymore!" -Anyone who forgoes the fact Void 3rd item isn't actually a bad thing anymore.

AP and AD don't work off the same exact formula for calculating damage so you can't really compare them like that.

Mages deal the most damage in this game

This is why I make the point, because regardless of the formulas or their inputs, we can see the outputs. We see lots of magic damage dealers high on the damage rankings. This is while MR items are trash, as I've shown
