Can we not pretend like fizz isn't overpowered right now. He scales far too hard. Deals too much damage early game. His supposed "weak" laning phase is negated by his 'E' and him buying 
. The accessibility of cooldown reduction lets him E, zhonyas, then E out of zhonyas very early into the game. And he's problematic enough by instantly deleting the ADC right off of level 6 and continuing to do so anytime his ult comes off CD.
Fizz used to be the premiere pick it or ban it champ back in S4/5 only reason his play rate started to drop in recent years was because of more newer champions capturing players attention.
I mean why play Fizz when Zoe does the same thing.
He was still left in his broken state for so long but you know Riot, they don’t care about balancing a champion until their ban rate or complaints start piling in.
He always have been stupid. These AP ratios are too high for spells that you can't really dogde.
His R has stupid hitbox and deals 150/350 + 80% AP to 300-500 + 120% AP with a 1300 range.
His W has a total of 40% AP + 50% AP + 35% AP. How? His passive allows him to deal 10/15/20/25/30 + 35% AP on hit and 20/30/40/50/60 + 40% AP magic dmg on a 3s Dot. So on the passive you already has 75% AP which is really big.
Now you can add the active who deals 50/70/90/110/130 + 50% AP. On one AA you can take 30 + 35% AP + 130 + 50% AP and the dot who deals 60 + 40% AP. Total : 130 + 30 + 60 = 220 base dmg + 125% AP.
And it's only one AA, he can place more AA.
In 2 spells, you have already more than 100% AP.
His Q now, applies the entire AD dmg + a 55% AP ratio. Proc lichebane. Impossible to dogde.
And his E has 75% ratio and is really hard to dogde.
Yeah, he deals too much dmg because his abilties have too much scaling considering 3/4 of his kit aren't possible to dogde without a flash.
I'm surprised he isn't played that much but it's a good thing. I don't want to see him. This champ is cancer and boring.
He has a terrible early laning phase with awful waveclear. Push him in and get early roam advantages with your jungler. Grabbing a Zed/Akali/Qiyana is a free win into him, and as far as mages go Ahri and Vladimir, and Viktor counter him as well. So does Sylas.
If your willing to cheese a bit, you could pick a bruiser mid

to deal with fizz. Works decently reliabily for me.

He's my go to mid champ when I'm autofilled in mid, he got very good roam, his ult pretty fun and he becomes strong pretty fast, unless you get hardbullied in early game, which can happen, you quickly become an ADC deleting monster and I really like that.
However he didn't feel that op to me, compared to other assasins, but I can understand his E is a extremely annoying and gives him some safety he shouldn't have
Lets summarize why Fizz is cancerous champ
Each combination those 5 is not OK and fizz is combination of them all with no trade Off!
