What Was the Purpose of Gutting Alistar?

Ok sure but why··1 votes·293 views

He used to be really decent in solo lanes, but now he's exactly what Riot wants him to be -- completely useless when not just being a tank support.

He seems fine to me. What exactly did they "gut"? Making his mama-eating heal manaless?

Well I mean, with the new E, he clears the new Jungle surprisingly well.

Just tried it, and,

no. His new E is just his old passive, but worse. And his new passive is just his old E, but worse.

Are you sure? I can get a video of a dry run with Alistar up in a few minutes if you need evidence.

Alistar is a tank support. It's weird that he is being balanced around being a tank support, right?

I've seen some ali top tanks do pretty well. You seem to suggest that his trample is a worse version of his old passive, except it stuns now which makes him into a triple cc threat.

He is primarily a tank support and so balanced for such, but he can still solo lane, which was pretty niche before anyway. The precise playstyle is probably a bit different though, as he can't just heal spam and be unkillable, and I have no idea the status on AP ali, but in certain match ups he can be a force to reckon with.
