Both me and my friend were within 1 league from each other, he was Gold V and I was Plat V. We both stopped playing for a while and where at those ranks due to decay, I have the lolking.net screenshots for both of our elo's neither of us mistakenly dropped a league.

I don't get it.
Lolking is a best guess of your MMR but it's not 100% accurate... Also it's a new season so you might not be within one league after the soft MMR reset.
Tier restrictions are based on your current rank, or your the rank of your border if you have not finished your placement matches.
Players who did not get seasonal rewards due to toxicity are considered Unranked and are limited to queuing with Bronze, Silver and Gold players.
