Newer Players Beware

Downvote if you want. I realize that most people on the boards aren't new players anyway, and those who are are only here to comment on how many times they've been told to kill themselves in the first week of playing. But this is necessary information.

This hasn't been news for quite some time, so new players may have no idea.

A while ago, they halved the amount of experience required to reach the maximum level. This means two things:

  1. Players can unlock rune slots and masteries more quickly.
  2. Players are guaranteed to be unprepared for Ranked right when they reach level 30.

  • You unlock only rune slots and the ability to purchase runes, not the actual runes themselves. The single AD and AP pages that you'll need to be competitive cost around 12,000 IP altogether--assuming you leave Seals and Glyphs the same on both pages.
  • This comes alongside the cost of champions. Although you will definitely be able to afford the ten required champions, they're likely to be ten of the lowest cost. Most of which are outclassed by others.

I think this can be summarized well by saying:

New players, don't play ranked until you're winning over 50% of your norms and feel like you've made an impact in most of those games or else when you get to ranked, your corn hole will hurt.

If you make an AD and AP standard page, it'll cost you about 7500ip

You don't need AS quints or anything like that to be competitive when you're a newer player.

Unless you're a jungler. Then get that attack speed, son. Wide eyes, fast clears, can't lose.

You guys remember the good ol days when you were grinding IP so you could buy that champ you so desperately wanted to play because you used all 3 of your refunds in the first 2 week. Man the nostalgia
