Was it to strong for Twisted Treeline?

Was it just never added into it? Why not just make it 60-75 armor and allow it

Removed from Treeline back at the end of Season 2 in 2012. I don't remember the reasoning behind the change though.

Balancing issues for the most part. I think this was before (or concurrent to) the (TT) map rework and countless balance changes, when "viable" TT champions consisted almost completely of bruisers and a handful of mages. Marksmen were basically absent from the map, and I believe part of the reasoning for the change was that removing thornmail would remove one of the hard counters to marksmen, and make them more viable. If I recall, Warmog's was removed around the same time, as another attempt to take bruisers down a peg. This was also when they added things like Wooglet's Witchcap, to give a boost to some of the struggling mages.

Not sure how it would change things if they brought it back now. Autoattackers are in a better place than they were when thornmail was removed (you certainly see a lot more of them in treeline), but adding it back in might have some serious repercussions on map balance. With only 3 people per team, adding in thornmail would likely help some champs that don't need the help, and harm a lot of champs that are struggling on the map as it is.
