What if Karthus' E damaged every tick instead of second?

So 4 times a second but each hit is only a quarter of the current damage (overall DPS would still remain the same). I feel like just this change would be enough for Karthus, who we all know could use just a little love.

i like this idea

they did it to singed for his poison and his QoL went up with that

It's made this way so he can use it to cs easier. If the damage is dealt every quarter a second then he can't last hit by instant toggling e and it will waste a lot more mana.

Well it would tick mana every quarter second for a quarter of the amount as well.

At rank 1 it has 30 base damage. Imagine doing a quarter that damage per quarter second, it will be very hard to control.

What is there to control. You turn it on, kill shit, and turn it off.

Am i missing some deep tactical aspect of Karthus's kit?

IDK, they might just not understand. I for one rarely ever CS with it, because I mainly use Q or autos for that. Also, would this not allow him to actually save some small amount of mana if he turns it off before the 1 second is up?

no. his E has a feature that is timed so that you can toggle it on then right back off in order to get mana back from your kills. karthus gains mana every time he kills a unit with his E turned off. if his E is turned on then he is just losing mana. if you shorten the amount of response time allowed in order to toggle the spell and then weaken the damage it's very similar to having low damage for auto attacks and trying to last hit. I.E it makes it harder to last hit. if minions are doing more damage than you then you cant last hit because more often than not a minion wave will last hit other minions out from under you. the 1 for 1 ratio on the toggle allows karthus to react accordingly.

Think about last hitting with super low ad and attackspeed characters, it's the same idea.

It's irratating, when you're playing Karthus, and the enemy champ stands in your E, but doesn't take damage. It would definitely be a nice buff.

52% winrate mage does not need buffs.

Winrates don't mean much, that applies to both those on the higher end of winrates and lower end too. Karthus playrate is pretty low. He's mostly played by his main who are pretty good at the champion. Having said that, I think he is relatively fine. I think any buff could potentially make him overpowered because he already does the highest damage in the game. I'd say perhaps buff his Rank 1 ult, to 300 his second to 425 and leave his last one at 550. would be a pretty good buff. His technically a late game mage, but he's moved more to mid-late game. Where you try to snowball other lanes either lvl 6 or 11, and close out the game once you hit lvl 16. If it goes out to the late game where everyone has itemized zhonyas, locket, maw, redemption, edge of night, banshees, grouped up with the enchanters providing shields, and heals and stacked MR...its a bit harder to win. all between that though, it's smaller skirmishes with a karthus ult over your head, You HAVE to build damage first your morellos, your echo for burst, etc ... otherwise you'll lose either way so that period of the game is all in karthus favor.
