I dont understand these people.

Why set up a team builder game and set the roles for each lane to ANY, just to talk about the champ someone wants to use and eventually boot them out the group? If you dont want a marksman top then dont set the role to any.

Ranked season is over, im trying to have fun....trying to get a game top lane with Ashe.

The creator of the game, our GRAVES jungler, has the nerve to down it then kick me lol. So he can jungle graves but i cant top a Ashe? lol wtf.

But that is part of what team builder is for. Play who you want, how you want, where you want. Its just crazy to see how many people try to bring the normal meta to team builder.......they might as well go play normal que.

There's nothing people can do when they have to a) pick among 6 broad sweeping categories, and b) pick either ONE or ALL of them.

If someone wants to, say, keep Shaco and Tristana out of their top lane, they don't have much of an option to do that except pick tank for top, which drastically extends their queue time even if they'd be perfectly happy with half the eighty something adcs, assassins, mages, and fighters in the game that they now are automatically rejecting.

In short, Teambuilder's design is stupid. There's not much you can do with broad categories except appease meta-ragers, however ironic that is, given Teambuilder is the only refuge for EVERYONE ELSE. If I'm yasuo, and I want a team of knockups, do I give a crap what broad categories I put in each lane? NO. ANY CATEGORY WILL DO. Do I still need to limit the champs I queue for? OBVIOUSLY.

Meta-ragers already HAVE a queue, Riot. It's called "EVERY OTHER SR QUEUE", and it's actually more than one queue. Can't you give the rest of us a moment's rest already? Overhaul teambuilder. It's cool, but it's crap.

On another note: barring my objection to the suggestion that players should quit kicking and start categorizing, I still feel your pain on the mass meta-kicking this pre-season. It's like all the inane draft-pickers switched to teambuilder for who knows what reason. I can't try a freakin' thing in a pre-season where there isn't even a meta worked out yet, because there's still a bunch of terrible, simple-minded, generally toxic, obnoxious players trying to enforce the S5 meta for no reason, and now they're populating EVERY QUEUE like a swarm. It's probably the same batch of quitters that crawled out of the woodworks, surrendering every other game at the 20 minute mark. League is quickly turning sour for me community-wise since S6 started.

Yes that's another thing that gets me. how quick people are to give up and surrender. Even in ranked.

I once got outvoted 4 to 1 in a game where I was in game 3 of my series and I was 1-1 in the series. The team knew I was in my series and still voted to surrender simply because we was down 6 kills....but if they looked at the map they would of seen we was up 2 turrets. All they needed to do was farm up and get stronger. Too many people think the game is all about kills.....which is why you have the times in the game where 3 of your team mates go off chasing 1 champ down the river instead of staying mid and taking a tower.

How mad can you be at Riot for making a decent Gamemode? Its not an issue of people not getting to try new things, its an issue of will the other players accept it. I go into Team builder to play new to me champs not to have fun. I go have fun in Normals with friends and crazy ass comps. Team builder is meant for people to get certain roles no matter what, it does not mean other players have to accept it. Therefore, Team Builder is great and does exactly what it was designed for. Trying to do something that is so vastly different from what it was designed for will grant you a long queue time and many teams unwilling to try out whatever you want to do.

Well people go to team builder for different reasons. I go to have fun playing a champ in a odd role or lane and i go there when i want to learn a new champ in their normal role. No one can say that team builder is made for just 1 reason except for the people that designed it. And according to them, it was meant so people can explore the widest range of strategies and compositions. You can see that in this link at the bottom above the FAQs.

So according to them, being able to play Ashe top or a jungle Graves is part of what it was designed to to do.

The point of my post was pointing out the people that A. Just want to pound the normal meta into every team builder game and B. Complain about the champ and role you are using that champ in when they themselves are using a champ in a even stranger role. IE the jungler graves complaining about a top lane Ashe. I didnt care he wanted to jungle graves....but dont rage me and boot me because you think Ashe top would fail when you are attempting to jungle graves.

I mean should I go to normal que and call top and pick Ashe? How do you think that champ select chat would turn out?

I disagree with a lot of what you said. I hope you read this <3. First off, the reason I play Team Builder is so that I have a strong team composition. I understand you wanting to pick Ashe Top and thinking teambuilder is a good place to try it out. I also understand your frustration at being kicked by another off-meta player. But, at least in this context, I would have done the same as Graves. Graves is Jg, not Adc. Ashe is top, not Adc. That still leaves bott lane where it's likely someone will pick ADC. No one wants 3 ADC's on their team. That team composition will likely lead to a loss so Graves rejected you instead of likely spending the next 20 minutes getting stomped by the enemy team.

Finally, and this last part is a little more personal, if you want to pick a weird champion I would reccomend Draft. People will let you in normals and they may let you in Team Builder. But what happens when you pick Ashe top and are vs. Wukong or any other lane bully with a gap closer? If I want to play something off-meta I certainly don't want to be countered doing it.

I only play team builder when im playing a new champ that just came out or one im not familiar with or when I want to play a champ outside the meta IE Ashe top or jungle Leona.

This was not a case of him not wanting 3 ADCs. I didnt put it in my original post exactly what he was saying but I did say he down talked it. He did not boot me as soon as i joined. The guy literally spent at least a minute in the chat downing Ashe as a top lanner, too squishy, blah blah blah. if you are worried about squishy then dont set it to ANY role....set it to fighter or tanks and you wont get a marksman or mage. I mean if he was worried about a composition he would not of been jungling graves.

And as far as what happens when you are vs. a WuKong or other gap closer thats easy. You farm, poke from distance with your W, if its wukong you put a vision ward in one of the top lane bushes so you can see when he tries to go invisible so you can back off, and when your lane is pushed you back off let them push it back.....wait for ganks.

Well, in my opinion jungle graves is much more viable than ashe top. And 2 ADCs are much more viable than 3. I'm not letting this devolve into a conversation about what's better though so i will leave it at that. I didn't realize he was shit talking you when i originally read your post. My bad on that.

However, he is still the captain and he can build his team however the hell he damn well pleases. I am aware of the link you posted but ultimately I believe the decision comes down to if Graves didn't like Ashe top, he had every right to kick you. It's not like he prevented you from joining another team.

Contrary to what you said, I do believe Graves cared about his team comp because as you said, he was shit talking Ashe top because too squishy. Hes already sacrificed one tank spot for himself (the jungler) if he lets you in that's no tank top... And comes down to a tank support and hopefully a tanky mid. So yes, the comp still could have worked but it wouldn't have been ideal and I bet you he would have ended up kicking other squishies as well.

I think there are two different appeals to team builder, different for both the captain and the team members. The captain gets to build his team however he wants (TeamBuilder) while the team member gets to play whatever they wants, where ever they want. If the captain doesn't like the team member then the team member has another opportunity with the next captain.

If you're getting kicked too often it's not because Captains are being too picky. It's because whatever you're picking, while not bad or toxic in any way, just doesn't fit into as many teams compositions as other top laners.

Personally, my only problem with teambuilder is that I'm restricted to only picking one champion. I want to pick a champion that synergizes well with my team's composition and I can't really do that by picking beforehand. I'm looking forward to the new champion select. I would suggest looking into it if you haven't already.
