Literally every other mid laner. To beat malz you actually have to know how to lane, and sorry to say you just don't. Malz is one of the weakest mid laners in the entire game, with no lane priority vs other mages pre lost chapter and almost no kill potential at all until he has at least 2 items and that's only if those 2 items include a liandries. He has more control vs some assassins but malz is an anti assassin. what exactly are you expecting? Just because you pick Zed you think you should be able to roll your face like a chimp at lvl 6 and always get a kill?

A lot of kids don't understand this concept, but league of legends isn't street fighter. You don't get to pick mid and go, 1VS1 FINAL DESTINATION NO ITEMS. Not only is the jungle a huge part of laning in general, but a ton of match ups especially bad ones boil down to try to farm and wait for the jungle and Malz has one of the smallest pool of good match ups mid lane. Almost every mage match up vs Ori comes to mind. So no, when you get flash ulted by Malz R, which does a quarter of the damage of a real ult, you don't get to whine like a baby about it when you should know that post 6 malz is a walking stun bot and should've warded properly so you at least have a tiny idea of where the jungle is and what he's going to do. Yeah, I know right, thinking, from a Zed player, it's too much to ask.

This all of course is extra funny because you play Zed, the lowest risk assassin in the entire game. He's literally a manaless poke mage with hyper mobility that just so happens to be able to build duskblade have a 100-0 point and click ult in a meta dominated by assassins who can proc electrocute. The fact that you have the nerve to whine about one of the only match ups you can't straight up win in champ select is just so sad and pathetic it angers me, a lot.

Oh and of course you play Gnar too, a ranged manaless top that you only pick because YOU DON'T WANT TO RISK ANYTHING IN LANE.

I am not trying to defend him but if malzahar is that weak, can you tell me how he is still one of the best mid laners in the game?

I never said he's weak, I said he's weak in lane. The game is total trash right now and mid is no different and Malz, who has many of the advantages of a mage, doesn't auto lose to most assassins (which is all you see mid) and can actually do anything to tanks (which is all you see top and bot) and this is important. The fact that he's one of the only mages left in the game where you can confidently press your abilities and know that they'll actually land is just icing on the cake (and ties in with why he can even lane vs assassins) but if this is why you're whining about Malz not only are you wrong but you're the reason why the games going down the fucking shitter.

Malz isn't one of the best mids in the game, he's the safest blind pick mage in this meta. That's it. He's a mage who traded in a ton of a mages power budget just so he can say NO FUCK YOU to assassins. He "wins" lane vs Fizz and LB (and by win I mean he controls the flow of the lane, Malz's solo kill pressure approaches 0 in practically every match up), as a fucking mage, he dicks Kass all game, he goes even with Zed, he loses to akali and kat but even in those match ups he's got some semblance of agency unlike most other mages.

And because he traded in a ton of his mage power budget to dick assassins he's generally much weaker vs other mages where his shit poke and shit burst become a handicap. If you were decent on any mage the instant you see a Malz you should be feeling relief because the lane is literally free, ESPECIALLY if you're one of the 50% of all diamond mid players who play Ori, possibly his worse match up next to xerath, then the only thing you have to worry about is whether match making gave you an auto fill jungle or not.

When you see people whine about malz there really are only 3 reasons. Assassin players whine about him cause they're degenerates who can't seem to breath when they can't touch themselves while watching montages, mage players who are garbage, and people who understand malz's rework is just unhealthy for the game solely because of his passive. Only the last group of people are worth listening to and they'll never be the ones who whine about malz being OMGUR OPUR.

so first of all I dont play mid lane that much and I rly do not remember the last time I faced malzahar, in lane at least, you are not wrong in many things that you are saying however malzahar is not the garbage that you are saying he is vs mages, besides when he is being played vs Ori of course.

Malz scales with the competency of his jungler. If his jungler is losing (or the enemy top or bottom roams) he's weak as shit.

Play malzahar into a good Artillary mage and let me know how it goes. They can instakill voidlings, poke you constantly, and shove you under tower with minimal effort.

I have someone in my friendlist who just plays Malzahar and has the skill and gameknowledge of about a high silver player (plat 1 player perspective). She managed to rise to plat 3 at one point when Malz was the most broken midlaner but somehow nobody recognized it. After nerfs she fell back to silver 2 and is now back in gold 1.
