basically to kill them you must separate them by placing a bunch of CS near a tower. her adc-birb instincts will kick in and then u strike. works every time.

If you're support go Xerath/Vel'koz/Sion (Or any other Support with Long/Med Range, Hard CC Works too) and consistently aim for Xayah (Or Rakan if you notice that he's the better player than Xayah. P.S Dodge his Q while you're at it to save yourself the time)- Should also memorize how far/close Rakan is and if he can use his Knockup or not (I find Rakan W/ADC practically screwed if he misses his Knockup). You'll have a somewhat hard time Start-Game until you (Support) hits Lvl 2.

If you're ADC, I find Caitlyn to just shred through Xayah (Given your Support isn't a Shield support) and Draven to murder Rakan (If you get hit by his Knockup, your support shouldn't run away, they should hit him or Xayah with CC). Basically, if you want a higher chance to beat the combo don't end up with a Shield support... Unless you're Janna cuz F*cking tornado

Edit: I'd also like to point out- if you see Rakan miss his Knockup and Xayah is going towards her tower (Not going for the follow up) then that's also a perfect time to take him down a great deal or Xayah aswell if she still tries to do a late follow-up (Happens more times than i'd like to see). Another thing that works is if you get hit by his knock up is to not get frazzled by it (I point this back to the note of your support not running away if someone gets hit by the knock up)

Great advice. My other advice would be to go Sivir. They are both ability oriented so your spell shield will work wonders. Make sure to use it for knockup. Sivir is a great pusher as well so you will negate Xayah's pushing abilities as well

Ban rakan. That is the only way I have found that is successful. Xayah isn't a huge issue by herself just cc her and easy kill like most other adc champs. Rakan can pair well with a lot of other champs though he has engage/disengage, shields, and heals which is more then most supports. That's just my opinion. Good luck on the rift mate.

Ban Xayah lmao. She’s easily Tier A by herself.

Rakan is a worse Alistar without Xayah.

ADC's - Ashe Caitlyn Ezreal Lucian Vayne Tristana Draven

Draven can cancel Rakan's W with Stand Aside (E). Vayne can cancel Rakan's W with Condemn (E).

All the ADC's listed above either have -

  1. High Range - (Ashe, Caitlyn)
  2. Can buffer CC effects. (Tristana, Ezreal)
  3. Can cancel mobility effects. (Vayne, Draven)
  4. Have some form of mobility themselves. (Caitlyn, Ezreal, Tristana, Vayne, Lucian)

A well played Janna Morgana is a nightmare for any Rakan player. With Morgana's shield being a magic absorb + cc immunity shield Xayah's damage won't break the shield.

Rakan alone doesn't do enough magical damage to pop Morgana's shield until he has a few ranks in Q.

Rakan's W is the easiest cc to side step.

Supports that deny engages or have hard engage themselves Alistar Blitzcrank Braum Leona Nautilus Morgana Janna Lulu Thresh TahmKench

Ban Xayah lmao. She’s easily Tier A by herself.

Rakan is a worse Alistar without Xayah.

A Tier?

She's S tier at the moment, maybe even S+ tier.

Her competition (Vayne Tristana Twitch) got nerfed.

Rakan isn't worth the ban, he's average when he isn't with Xayah.

Banning Xayah prevents the lane matchup being played and removes a large majority of Rakan's actual power as a support.

True. I forgot this was in regard to laning phase. Post 6, though, good luck. Lol.

Joseraph6 votes

Xayah isn't Fizz lmao. Her dodge is on an Ultimate cooldown, which comes up at level 6, way after most other supports. (Unless you're playing Mal support, in which case why?)

iitsdayday1 votes

Sorry you can't cc a champ with one movement ability.

Flawless Fetus2 votes

It's not a movement ability. It's an untargetable. Literally, you can't cc her during the window she is immune to cc. "Just cc olaf during his ult". Lol, k.

iitsdayday1 votes

Olaf ult lasts 6 seconds Xayah's last 1.5 that's a little bit of a difference mate.

Flawless Fetus1 votes

Same in principle. "Cc the champ that is cc immune" good call. I'll keep that in mind. Lol.

Sp33d Zer08 votes

Caitlyn Morgana

You massively outrange xayah and pressure her hard. Morgana black shield hard stops Raman and xayahs root on e (But not it's damage). Hit a binding or A trap and laugh at the 4 seconds of hard cc

Hochelaga6 votes

So i'm just gonna throw how I play against Xayah and Rakan with my supports :

Sona She has access to diminuendo (the green power chord) which reduces dmg by 25%. I usually stand at 2 stacks of power chord so whenever Rakan engages on my adc, I use diminuendo + exhaust on their adc. Most of the time, this is enough to shut them down and turn back the fight on them. Of course, you don't stay close to your adc or else it's over.

Lulu She can polymorph Xayah and basically shield your adc. Also, if Xayah is not exactly near Rakan, Lulu can slow Xayah down with her Q. After polymorph's duration ends, you can throw exhaust at Xayah.

Morgana Basically one of the biggest counter to Rakan because of her black shield. Timing is very important. If your adc manages to get caught, try to throw a bind on Xayah.

Janna She can knockup Rakan before his W lands. Also, she can prevent Rakan from shielding Xayah too. if your adc gets caught, simply peel XAYAH back with your ultimate before running away too.

Karma A little bit harder to counter Xayah and Rakan. But if your adc gets caught, you need to use Mantra shield AFTER the knockup so he can benefit from the movespeed bonus. Try binding Xayah with your W. If she is fed, you can throw an exhaust to damper the damage.

Soraka If you hit someone with starcall, your W will provide rejuvenation on the next healing ally. Try hitting Xayah with your Q and silence before using exhaust.

SmashinBob3 votes

Try to always keep track of Rakan, not getting him to close to you, his W can be dodged either way if he is close to you he will try to W behind you, so dodge forward, and if he is far away, just start moving back as soon as you see him going for it, esspecially if you have some dash or movement speed boost you can easily dodge his W. His W also is on a high cooldown aswell 18-12 sec, so if he missed it, at this time you can go and try to trade with xayah or him, as he cant do anything while his W is down and is pretty much useless, and you have a huge advantage with your supp to go and trade with xayah or zone her off farm during that time.

When he hits 6, his R into W almost guaranteess a knockup. At this point you just want to make sure you are never in a bad position or close to him, unless you know you can survive or outplay his engage. If he flashes to get into range, you must do the same. I ussually try to bait him to use his engage when i see xayah is not close enough to follow up quickly, so his cc generally just falls flat. And also take into account his R is also very long cooldown aswell 120s rank 1.

Bonnìe3 votes

i pick soraka and my adc friend is usually like a vayne or maybe a draven or cait, but its really easy to poke and trade with raka lmao, let him jump onto your adc and silence, hes fucked. ive never had a real problem with a xayah rakan lane tbh. not any more than any other lane

underscores2221 votes

Raka is listed as a counter to Rakan for pretty much that reason. Prolly one of the better support counters. Thresh also does well since he can flay Rakan out of his knockup.

I Main Swain3 votes

3 biggest things i would say are to be aware of your positioning and never put yourself between xayah and her feathers if you can help it, try to predict the rakan grand entrances for dodging, and remember that immobilizing abilities will stop grand entrance

Karfuss3 votes

You ban one of the two, or if one has been picked, your team picks the other.

Together they're particularly nasty because of the distance Rakan can cover with E and W. Alone, they're relatively weak compared to other champs in that role.

If you have no other choice than fighting against the two of them, a disengage is non-negotiable. You need to be in a position where you fight on your terms, not theirs. Janna, Vayne and Alistar work well in cancelling Rakan's W and knocking him away should he ult. He is your priority until his engage is spent, then you can fully commit on Xayah with little worry.

Also more aggressive supports like Leona do well in that match up, in that their engage is a helluva lot harder than Rakan if she can reach Xayah. It's not as favourable as the solution above, but fire with fire does work. An ADC can deal with Rakan a helluva lot faster than Xayah can deal with Leona.

Daunt3 votes

Kench is literal cancer since they can never actually engage on your ADC. Another thing is just knowing that they have kill pressure on you so you play accordingly.

Cyrosi3 votes

You can out poke them with pretty much any ranged support. Although I personally prefer Nami, for the 3 seconds of cc to wreck their day when your ultimate is off cooldown. Sona is a close 2nd though, because Xayah is fairly squishy. Just don't get between Xayah and her feathers.

robotmaster3 votes

Bard is always the answer. Rakan will shield Xayah from your empower autos that’s when you stun them both. BARD.

Hibeki2 votes

Pick leona and literally any ADC and you shit on xayah.

ModCaliCoastReplay2 votes

Caitlyn and Jhin and Tristana make life hard for Xayah. She's a brutal top-tier ADC but she absolutely has to get close to obliterate someone. Champs who outdistance her own autos can frequently tag her until she can't commit to any initiations.

Meanwhile, TahmKench and Thresh and Lulu and Morgana help to counter Rakan 's charm pull - anyone with a decent champion-save makes life hard for him. If he blows that and doesn't get a kill he's out of gas for a good long cooldown and you can push during that time.

Good luck!

Morgana invalidates rakan, and partly xayah. Your adc win all fights. GG

Sire Hippington2 votes

A poke/push carry with a disengage support usually does the trick. Rakans engage aside from the ult-flash is very telegraphed, and if they don't get the engage, rakan is fairly squishy early on and xayah has little disengage pre 6, so they are rather vulnerable them self if you get an counter engage.

For supports:

Alistar is a great support vs them if played well, he can interupt the mobillity of rakan with his two instant displaces and even if he gets cought in an ult engage, he can cleanse it with his ult and the zone xayah away to prevent any followup on rakans engage.

Thresh also can do well, a good thresh can rather reliably interupt the rakan dash with his E.

Morgana has a rather easy time blocking their cc with the black shield, her W can help outpushing them, and since both are rather squishy if locked down, her binding on either of them will hurt alot.

Janna witha high ranged carry can also work well, her Q can interupt his engage and her shield helps your carry to abuse his range advantage vs xayah.

heavy poke supports can also work, but you have to play very carefull.

For Adc:

Cait is great, she can harras them both easily with her huge range, match the push with her Q and her E usually is enough to avoid the rakan engage.

Sivir also works great, she shoves them in easily and it's easy to spellshield rakan's engage.

Varus, jinx and ashe also have a good range advantage and enough pushing power to pressure them, but he they definitly need someone like alister or morgana to counter the engages as they lack disengages them self.

The tricky part is playing around their lvl 6, best would be to call your jungle and mid to force a play on them befor they can get the jumpm on you. If rakans flash is down, it becomes much easier to ülay around their engage potential. Also, respekt their early all-in power, don't play to agressively and try to avoid trades or disengage while her W is up. It has a decent CD and without it, you can easily trade vs them, but if it's on, their early damage is pretty huge. Also, i'f you're support and you can't interupt his knockup for whatever reason, don't run away, don't focus rakan, go for xayah and CC her, just make sure she can't fullow up. If xayah isn't in a good spot to follow up any way, you can and should focus rakan, he dies quicker than most people think, especially if your adc has high early damage like varus or draven

Leaf on Bush2 votes

You just avoid the engage and you don't run aggressivley into them to avoid feathers. Either poke them down carefully or just focus on disengage.

if Rakan screwed up his W you can actually start punishing them, just always flank around so you are not in one line with Xayahs E where she can pull all feathers through you.

And avoid Rakans Q to deny the sustain, but I think that is more obvious.

By banning Xayah

Yordle Xayah1 votes

I've found Ali to be pretty good against that combo. As long as you get pass Level 1, he can break Rakkan's engages dead on his tracks. Braum is also pretty good. As for the AD, depends. Cait right now is super strong, particularly in the early game.

Something along those lines, for now... some kind of nerf is bound to happen. I suspect Riot may be holding a bit on such nerf because they're trying to make sure which of the two is the bigger offender, or if it's the combo that making them so strong. That's just speculation from me.

Have you tried Draven/Leona? They're a pretty strong combo as is and people are saying they working against those two individually too.

The closer you are to her when she ults, the easier it is to dodge.

What is it you don't like about the ult?

Can't dodge? Denies engage?

I play kayle supp and don't have any problems with them even though kayle is countered by cc and has none (hard) herself. Rakan is generally a non-issue due to low damage which means only his knockup is a problem. Landing that (or not) is completely up to adc positioning, if your adc is bad at positioning you're going to have a hard time. As kayle I keep their hp topped up and ult right before xayah pulls feathers back which completely wrecks her. Also, if your adc isn't moving perpendicular to her feathers than a lost fight is completely on them.
